Except ice skates may not be allowed in your hand luggage, so you have no choice in the matter. A company like KLM has ice skates on their restricted items in the hand luggage list, so I’m thinking most airlines if not all have the same restriction.

Ashley Cain-Gribble said in an IG story today that “London and Frankfurt” are a “no” for carry-on skates, but “most” airports in the states will let you carry on. She said she packs accordingly

There was plenty of junior talent the year they sent Stasya to both senior and junior worlds. To me that indicates they aren’t opposed to sending senior competitors to also compete in juniors for whatever reasons.

Not everyone's father is an oligarch. And TAT doesn't love everyone the same way she loves Stasya, lol. Also Stasya didn't win 2x GP gold and make GPF. And this isn't a dig, I really like Stasya but it's a completely different situation to the 3A, or any other skater for that matter.

I think if 1 of the 3A falter or are left off the team (even if they skate beautifully at Nationals) they shouldn't go down to the junior competition - given the scoring of Kamila and Alysa, if they aren't flawless they could wind up not winning gold and I imagine it could hurt their reputation in the senior ranks to lose to a junior girl

Plus there are other Senior B events which skaters can participate in that take place in the Spring (Challenge Cup, etc). It’s not the same as worlds, but if you win a senior B it still counts for 250 world standing points.

I remember a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode where Buffy manages to slay someone at an ice rink with a well placed kick with a skate shod foot so we have to watch out for these little girls with skates.

In the unlikely event that Anna gets sent to juniors, her competition would really only be Kamila. Sinitsyna and Russian lady #3 simply do not have enough difficulty. Alysa has a multitude of difficult jumps, but is not scoring well in GOE and PCS. In no way would I say Anna cannot beat the junior skaters.

However, I hope RusFed doesn't even consider this (and they shouldn't). Sending her down from seniors to juniors will cement her (or any of 3A that gets sent) as not good enough. And Kamila certainly has a chance at beating whoever gets sent...so that's just salt to the wound! That will taint her for the rest of her career ... which is why I don't see it happening. At the very least, I don't think Eteri would allow it.

You know, I really don't agree with this. I know that many coaches appear to have this philosophy, but there is something to be said for facing your upcoming competition face to face. Meeting it head on. Experiencing the pressure that comes with being EXPECTED to win and learning that you won't die if you lose to someone who is younger. It happens sooner or later, and the athletes that last are the ones that understand it is just one loss--one part of a much longer journey. During Nathan's last junior season, Rafael said that he wanted Nathan in juniors because it was the junior guys that were biting & scratching. Well I think he had a point. It was good for Nathan to come up chasing Shoma and Boyang and ultimately Hanyu. But it has also always been good for Nathan to have Vincent pushing from behind.

That's fair. I did not expect Alyona to come out with a 3A this season for example! Just from discussion's sake though, I don't see any of the current juniors (Kamila aside) coming out with enough quads to beat a double 4Lz Anna who also has the reputation, experience, consistency, and PCS on her side. Not impossible, but to do it in such a short time frame and get it consistent enough for a debut junior worlds makes it not too likely from what we have seen so far. If I reach into the realm of small possibilities, there'd be way too many hypotheticals. But yes, I will stray away from saying impossible.

And I'm not too sure what you're trying to say in the second part of the comment. Are you trying to say you think Eteri would be fine with Anna skating in juniors so that she can face Kamila now rather than later? That's fair, but Anna's different in that she literally skated seniors all season. To suddenly put her back down to juniors is the main issue, and less so that Kamila is there. Anna losing to Kamila when Kamila turns senior is a bit different. The result of Anna losing to a junior Kamila though, would not look too great in a reputation and momentum charged sport. Anna will have to go back to Seniors next year anyway, while Kamila remains Junior for a while.

Idk. This hypothetical narrative just pains me: Anna was plucked from Seniors and put into Juniors because she couldn't compete with the Seniors, and yet she still couldn't win Juniors. That's gotta hurt...

The results from the Youth Olympics counts to the Seasons Best List, so yes, it can change the outcome of the GP assignments next year.

If so, then Rusfed should send there one of the girls who do not get to the Junior World Cup. Can Russia finally show 9 strong skaters in GP? Let the Championship of Russia and the Junior Championship of Russia give us such a candidate of the right age.

That's true, I've never seen a Russian skater there (to my regret), although the Japanese do make up for that somewhat - and usually winning the single events.

I don't think that Evgenia will be able to qualify for the final. At least one Japanese girl should be there.

I was just reading through some of the beginning pages of this thread and I found this prediction about the final. Voolfee originally quoted a post that predicted that Alina, Alexandra, Alena, Anna, Elizabeth, and Evgenia would all make the final. Good job with that prediction Voolfee, it was very accurate

The Russian Juniors didn't look very good during the GP season. They were beaten by Alyssa, the Koreans and look beatable by some of the Japanese is my recollection. Anna would be their best hope.

IMO, there's no upside for a skater who is unquestionably one of the top three in the world that season as a senior to participate in a junior event. She could tarnish her reputation by losing to Kamila and/or Alysa, whereas winning won't really help her much at all.
