LOL, no. But perhaps Channel One took sides in the row? Or didn't want to take a side?? There is still a December 22 slot available, right in the build up phase to the National Championships.
Would love to have seen Alyona the chipmunk taking the quiz and spill some secrets to her success ;-)

Oh YES that is one of the most wholesome pictures ever. I love their friendship, especially since they weren't from the same coaches and didn't meet through that basically

I think that was probably adelina's last Russian Nationals which may have been 2015. Yes their friendship was special between the three of them and I would throw Liza in there too. Adelina and Yulia had quite the rivalry for about 3 or 4 years but I don't think it ever got bad. I do Wonder after you Leah was the hero in the team event in 2014 to win Russia that gold then the watch at Alina win the singles gold had to be painful for her. Or maybe she was supportive of Adelina.
You made the pertinent point now they never had the same coach yet they became friends. Interesting. I hope the same thing can happen with the girls these days but the competition is so Fierce and the media so brutal it may be impossible.
She had a performance during the break at a hockey match today; while I'm not among the crowd screaming she's never going to come back - I don't see this as an indicator that she's maintaining a training regiment of a competitive skater, she was skating the exhibition that day and certainly needed to rehearse it. Let's see if she's on the ice training, when she's not prepping for an appearance

We all know she needs a break from figure skating so she doesn't need to be on the ice training anytime soon for competition because there is no competition for Alina. The earliest that would happen would probably be next September in some challenger. I hope Alina comes back if she wants to. Striving to be number one should not be top priority the way it has been for two or three years. I am not sure if her endorsement dollars will decrease without competing. I guess that remains to be seen.

i guess i don't understand your comment. any skater would want to rehearse or warm up an exhibition just like they do at competition. honestly if she's not competing training an exhibition program would be the next best thing to training a competitive program.

Oh no!!!!!!!!! What’s wrong???? All I can think about is the controversy about her “weight issues” and I sincerely hope that her withdrawal has nothing to do with that. Vasilieva is not my favorite but I certainly don’t want her injured, or sad because of her figure, or anything.

This is sad news VV. I hope it's not a serious injury that has long-term implication. Such a brutal sport figure skating is beautiful but it's a brutal sport on the body.

Alina’s Europeans SP from 2017-2018 showed up on my youtube suggestions and i rewatched it. It caught my attention the fact that she has an inside edge on her lutz-loop combo in here, although at the Olympics her edge was outside. So I guess Alina wasn’t that consistent with her edge since that time, and what’s happening with her edge now it’s not just a “post-puberty” problem. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Alina fan, and I’m not trying to diss her, I just wanted to discuss technique in here. What do you guys think?
