2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Is this Daria's first clean competition of the season? The performance was also lovely, she really does well with these sappy love songs. They made a good choice as it does set her apart from the others. Kamila's 4T might be the biggest jump in ladies. She's also quite musical and has amazing skating skills and charm, but I don't love her combos. Too bad Sinitsyna didn't have a clean competition, I do hope she gets the JW spot but we all know that in selection only nationals counts, not the season. Just ask Gubanova, Tarakanova, Kanysheva, etc.

As for Maiia her 4S in warm up was massive and beautiful, but I must have something against her as I really can't like her. She has really pretty lines and soft arms (perhaps the best in the field here?) but I just think she is so boring and when I watch her I can only draw the comparison to Sotskova. Even with the quad. That being said she might get the JW spot and she wouldn't be underserving but I hope it goes to Siniysyna.

Akatieva has quite incredible presentation and skating skills for a 12 year old. I'm not sure that the skates here were anything close in brilliance to her performances on Ice Age kids, but she's quite special. And a new discovery for me is Petrosyan. She seems to love being on the ice, and her musicality may have shades of Anna magic in there. Both she and Akatieva are playing the long game though; they aren't eligible for next olympics. And speaking of olympics, at least one of 3A and Kamila will be left off the team. And also other brilliant girls like Sinitsyna, Usacheva, etc. Maybe it's a blessing that Akatieva and Petrosyan aren't age eligible this cycle.

I thought Maiia was the best I've ever seen her today. Ksenia? I felt she skated too slowly and too cautiously, today I felt she lacked spark and confidence, or perhaps it was just nerves? I'm okay with either one going to JW.

Two years is a long time down the road, and anything can happen, but Kamila certainly looks to be the favorite, especially if she keeps that huge quad. Today her lutz combo was fantastic as well, she seems to have worked out all the wonky with the lutz.

The problem is not disagreeing with the judges. The problem is voicing that disagreement in blatant disrespect to a hardworking teenager who‘s done nothing but skate her best all year. Anna doesn‘t deserve this. We can criticize her jump technique all we want and there sure are many aspects she can improve on, but only as long as we‘re not mean to her as a person. If someone can’t even show some basic respect for a 15-year old, all of their arguments immediately lose their entire credibility. Unless the tone of the posts change, I think we would be best to just ignore them.

Agreed, thank you for saying this [emoji119]

Fluture has a point. That person intentionally systematically insult the skater. Something tells me that this person has already decided everything for himself. So what's the point of trying to debate?

Daria was clean at Denis Ten memorial Challenge.

Maiia was better today, she delivered under pressure. She deserves Junior Worlds. As for Kseniia, not that she doesn't have proper qualities, but she's got many chances already. Last year's junior worlds, this season's JGPF, YOG. You can't say she was left behind. So, let Maiia gets the spot this time.

So all the judges are imbecilles? All judges need new glasses? It's very presumptious to say that she is judged wrong as if you are the highest judge of them all. The judges are doing what they are supposed to do. What you should do is have a reality check.
Because politics play big part in sports. That is why.
Off topic: I remember how Denkova and Stavisky were much better than Navka and Kostomarov in 2004, but since they were not Russians they took the silver medal and not the gold. This was wayyy before the Sochi scandal. Denkova and Stavisky complained how corrupted the figure skating judges were. Do you know what happened? The judges underscorred them even more after that. They put them in 5th place several times. After some time Denkova and Stavisky did win 2 World titles in a row (after Navka and Kostomarov retired).

Probably, but we'll have to wait for the official FFKKR announcement.

Sinitsyna perhaps suffers from lack of specific weight at her rink? Both at Khrustalniy and at CSKA there are now full teams working, plural, meaning several teams separated by age and level, challenging each other. I doubt Snow Leopards has the numbers and resources, and with Tarakanova completely unknown at the moment, who has Sinitsyna to train and spar with? They have managed to stage her some excellent and distinguishing programs, but Kseniya somehow always has errors of late. Something isn't clicking and I cannot get my finger behind it.

I'm going to take a break from this thread for a while because I'm not a fan of all the chaos and drama that happens on here sometimes
But more that it makes me upset when I read hate comments about my favourite skaters so I'd rather not have to look at these
This is the last thing I'm saying on this so bye for now [emoji112]

Kirsty, may I suggest you visit the Fan Fests? The Russian Ladies Thread is in the Edge, where all comments, positive and negative, are allowed as long as they fall within Goldenskate guidelines.

Fan Fests are places where posters can “gush” about their favorite skaters without negative comments. I love the Fan Fests for my favorite skaters and visit them often for just such a reason:)

It was pure joy and privilege to witness Sofia Akatieva skate today, but also feeling of deep sadness that she won't be eligible for JGP next season. :(

She's 7 days too young. :dbana:

Of course, she earns the chance to qualify, she is great skater no doubt. If she would have been better than Maiia today, I would say "send her to junior worlds". But she wasn't.

I like the idea of bringing her the sparring partner of the same quality, that could help her to deliver in decesive moments. Though I think that Anastasia is such. If there is a truly undervalued skater, it is Nastya, unfortunately somehow she is such both nationally and internationally. I am often returning to her 2017 JGP performances. Nastya and Kseniia together are strong team. Also, Panova needs someone who can train with the girls with the fishing rod to learn at least trixels.

yea, but believe me as an inveterate troublemaker who has made many trips to penalbox - Bashing of skaters and/or coaches("Excessive, persistent, repetitive, unrelenting and pugnacious denunciation of skaters"), Ranting and/or Pontificating, Trolling and baiting - this is a fairly extensible articles of the criminal code under the action of which it is not so difficult to get (if the judge wants it, of course) :)

Frolova was better than Sinitsyna today as well, she had very clean and solid skate and her face when scores came was saying a lot... :rolleye:

Olga Yermolina's official FFKKR interview with todays medalist in the Junior National Championships: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hB747ObjQrU

Kamila is pleased, apart from the step out on her quad. She started working on re-acquiring it after the operation, and by the end of December it was nearly ready. Then she went on a small tour of Germany, which she liked very much. The ice was small in some locations, there was even a plastic rink of square proportions, which meant she had to 'throw over the boarding' some elements and show only a selection. She usually performs her complete short program and the free without ultra-si. She also had a show in Minsk.

Sof'ya is pleased to have medaled in the Championships. She comments on her errors and strives to erase them. She did compete while the others had shows or were training, but acknowledged her Moscow Cup wasn't her best competition.

Dar'ya has had a somewhat tough period leading up to the Championships, she said she'd struggled with motivation. But it pleased her to have collected herself to show her best here in order to get selected to the Junior World Championships. She strives to be at her very best in the World Championships.

Some of the “criticism” in here about Anna is far too much.
Whatever you say. Maybe I should leave this thread forever, since most people do not care what is right or wrong, what is fair and unfair, as long as their favourite person is getting their big medals (gold and silver).
Even If it is the judges' fault, she is the one who is doing those jumps and I do not see her to mind it all. And I do not see her trying to improve at all - the same pre-rotated triples from an year ago - more than half a turn less on her triple lutz and flip, same wrong edges. I dislike her as an athlete, not as a person (since do not know her).

Maybe there is something good in that. There will be still Kamila, Daria, Maiia and probably also Adeliya in juniors next season, with them possibly Kseniia and other stong skaters (Elizaveta?).

While the season after she can be easily No. 1.

A wise man (or woman) makes their point and then moves on. They know that their argument stands on it's own two feet and is irrefutable.

Anna's Skating Skills are fine. Her jumps are not tiny. In relation to the jumps of many of the other women they are not huge but they are tiny either. She is also 15. Skating skills, especially performance, musicality and choreographic expression usually improve with age and experience. Sit through some of the lower flights at Europeans and compare Anna to them and you'll see that her skating skills are pretty darn good.

Guys.. let people have their opinions even if you don't agree. It does not harm you if someone says something you disagree with and you don't have to jump in to argue with them all the time. We all like different things. Some people like Black licorice. I hate it with a passion. This does not make the people who like black licorice bad people or people without taste it just means that their tastes are different than mine. We don't all have to like the same things. The world would be pretty boring if all of our favourite colour was blue.

I think comments on pro-CSKA judging and influence are kinda fun. We can go way back to 2014 and who do you think was the Darling of the Rus Fed, no other than Lipnitskaya. She was supposed to win the whole thing. They even pushed Adelina out of the team event. Tell me about oh so powerful CSKA
Tutberidze girls for years get enormous scores and somehow i should believe that they are at the back of the bus
