Combine Worlds with Grand Prix Final? Top flight for the GP Finalists in all disciplines, with the junior GPF as a taster?
VUK do not have right to participate in Younger Age Nats, it's b.2007+ tournament.
It makes sense, though. 3A do not come to juniors, VUKh also do not come to juniors. Although they all have the right to it. Perhaps Akatieva and Samodelkina have already outgrown this level.

Hmm. Yes, I suppose you could - but we might also consider that sharing is caring, and Sasha hasn't yet got a gold medal from a major competition this season, so we could give it to her, and then each of the 3A has at least one of the big competitions, GPF, RusNats, and Worlds.

I expected this to happen and I do believe it‘s the best decision as health comes first but it‘s still incredibly frustrating and sad for the athletes involved. They all have trained to peak at Worlds. And I of course also feel sorry for all the fans who were going to attend. Just a sad situation overall...
I have been thinking about this too but this is still the off-season/early season, isn‘t it? Skaters try to peak at a certain time. If you have Worlds in August now, I do believe that would throw a lot of their schedules off.
And having it in October would collide with the GP series. But that‘s another issue.. how are GP standings determined? There are a lot of questions raised by this that ISU will have to address in the next few days.
It is weird not to see a World Champion crowned... Maybe they‘ll find a solution but I‘m just not too hopeful at the moment.

Technically, won’t Alina remain the reigning champion until the next worlds is held, whether that’s October or March?

I'm surprised it was cancelled. I really thought it wouldn't be, as juniors wasn't. And Health Canada maintains that the risk remains low. I'm about 2 hours away from Montreal and we just got our first case in the city and there is already so much idiotic uneducated panic. It's a shame, Anna had a good shot and so did Alena. It would've also been nice for Sasha to have a chance at a good skate this season as she hasn't had one since Japan Open. For the Russian ladies, every world championship is extremely important as the chances of them being on the team decreases so much each year as new talented juniors move up. At least there aren't that many juniors moving up next season so the 3A have a good shot at being on the team again next year.

A lot of things are getting cancelled or postponed now, including the NBA season. At this point, if local officials allow an event to be held and coronavirus breaks out in their community, they will take the blame.

I still insist it would have been Sasha. She was preparing for this competition the entire season and she would have landed all her quads this time. Just like she did in the previous two seasons; kept training insanely difficult content and losing to Alena and Anna, until she did it at Worlds. The other two got their gold medals, this one had Sasha's name on it.

Well they could do anything but can you imagine the mess - learning new programs - do you uuse the old one and trying to peak at the right times would get all messed out. And worlds in summer for skating. Hard sell. I wonder if they just use this year's number of entries for next year ie if you had two spots for pairs in 2020 y ou get 2 in 2021? I wonder if they allowed everyone the same entries plus if it works in y our favour use the GP resuls ie the final standings from the finals to the rest as everyone who went to a GP is ranked there somewhere. Now the issue might be the costs - but I don't think there would be too many changes. I think USA might get an extra lady, Canada would get an extra man, But it wouldn't cause a huge problem. I think the big issue with the Russian ladies is puberty. If they grow and it is not uncommon that they do this may have been their chance at a world title. I think the Russian girls are more vulnerable

I think Alyonochka will be OK with her amazing skating skills and better technique than the other two.
The same goes for ZigZag even though she is not as good as Alyona, but she is still better than the other two. What about Medi? Maybe she will return... Or will be Ptichka Sinichka's turn?
