2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

With the WC-2020 cancelled I predict quite a few careers ending soon.
So unfortunate...

Those who were considered favorites for the tournament were affected most.

I like predictions.

"Thanks to Alina Russia will lose three entries at worlds."

"Kamila and Daria have no chance against Alysa."

"Eteri will buy Louis Vuitton."

But the last one is the one that always true, not a prediction hahahha :D I love LV as well :D

Well, they can reschedule it and move it to Moscow. In the end, a podium sweep is possible for 3 Russian girls. They cannot let it down so easily.

Moscow has a 14 day quarantine for almost all participating countries now. That's not doable.

I think Alyonochka will be OK with her amazing skating skills and better technique than the other two. :) The same goes for ZigZag even though she is not as good as Alyona, but she is still better than the other two. :) What about Medi? Maybe she will return... Or will be Ptichka Sinichka's turn?

What?

who is all confirmed or likely to turn senior next season?

Kamila, Maiia and Daria are junior again, Tarakanova won't get a GP, Sinitsina probably?

and we will still have Medvedeva, Tuk, and a possible Zagitova, Konstantinova is not a threat at this point.

i'm brainstorming how likely the current world team will repeat again as the world team next year...i think there is a good chance if they all stay healthy and puberty isn't hard on them.

Now that the season is (sadly) cut short, what were your favorite Russian Ladies performances from the 2019-20 season?

For me, it’s:

Aliona: Nationals SP, GP France LP
Anna: GPF SP, Nationals LP
Sasha: Euros SP, Skate Canada LP
Alina: GPF SP, Japan Open LP
Evgenia: Rostelecom SP and LP
Liza: Finlandia SP, COC LP

It will be interesting. Not a lot of change with juniors as a lot were too young for seniors next year for the russians. The big challenge will be puberty but Russia still has somep retty good "elderly" skaters - Alina possibly, Liza, Evgenia - I assume Leonova is done? It iskind of sad she got kind of simply pushed aside with no fanfare. Shades of Fumie Suguri. But admittedly I am n ervous the Eteri 3As won't be as good next year. Liu will and Rika, maybe Bradie and the Koreans will have a chance now to close the gap on the Russians. They might be ahead if puberty really strikes hard. Rika and Liu seem to be surviving better so far.

Lots of attempts at ultra-si jumps in Older Youngest Age Ultimate of Russia:

Zhilina, Berestovskaya, Dmitriyeva, Gorbachyova, Kshetskaya all tried, but only a few managed to land without deductions. Triple Lutz seems the avarage mimumum solo jump, and is most often used in the cascade too.

Now the older girls in the youngest age group (12 year olds) will dance and perform in their steps and spins series. Do not miss https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6sAk17LF-8

Many tried very hard to get good levels on their steps sequence, but only very few received level 3.

Adeliya Petrosyan was off today, fell on her steps, lost her way and missed a spin series.

These scores decide the starting order in the short program, and will be added to the tally.

Alysa won't be senior eligible until 2021-2022. i don't really think the pecking order will change too drastically between now and next season with no really big names turning senior.

Rika is still the only one with a real chance to beat 3A, unless they somehow lose consistency or ultra-si elements. Young You is still very much behind in PCS and isn't always consistent, Bradie has a UR problem and no difficult elements. Mariah, Evgenia and Alina don't have the difficulty. Based on history, i don't think Liza will bring anything new or original to the table besides another quad, and even then she is still behind them.

We will have to wait and see, but i hope since worlds has been cancelled everyone makes the most of this extra time to first have a rest, then plan new programs, possibly learn new elements, and get really consistent with everything else to be in great shape for the fall.

I wouldn't leave Young You out of the equation. Especially after seeing her quad loop.

No one outside of Russia wants Russian sweep. They would rather cancel it.

Nah.

The event HAD to be cancelled, it would have been one of the very few events in a sea of cancelled events between now and june.

Then it's not that people pray for a russian sweep but it's not even that are against it. Let the competition to determine that.

Agreed. You is still a work in progress but she's putting together all of the tools necessary to challenge. I think she still has a ways to go, mostly in her expression/performance and her consistency, but if she pulls up with 3As and quads on top of her other gorgeous jumps, speed and ice coverage, she will have to be part of the conversation.

Sasha posted her Free Skate on instagram and kept it real  landed all of her 5!!!! QUADS.

Saw some former skaters post on Twitter like Kristi Yamaguchi that it would be a great idea if skaters posted their Free skates online so that we can have our own World Championships online! Seems like Sasha was the first to post hers! Hope the others follow suit

I don‘t think she missed one combo, she did the 2A+3T in the beginning instead of the 4T+3T she usually did. So, she should have all the jumps indeed. This makes me sad tbh. She seems to be in great shape and I would have wanted for her to have a redemption at Worlds. :( It wasn‘t meant to be. Next season will be hers! :)

I hope we‘ll get to see a run-through of Aliona and Anna as well. And honestly, I know they‘re not competing at Worlds but if we have an unofficial instagram Worlds, who says, Alina, Evgenia and Liza can‘t show their programs one last time either? No country limit for Instagram-Worlds. I know they’re not going to be in peak competition form because they weren’t gonna compete and I’m it‘s not going to happen but one can dream, right?

Also, who was that girl in the grey shirt practicing what seems to be a quad toe? Anna? Usacheva? I‘m genuinely not sure.
