2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Fluture, thank you very much for the translations! :thank: I really appreciate your hard work!

Thank you! :thank:

But in all honesty, I was just bored. Staying at home 24/7 now gives me plenty of time. And figure skating is calming, it‘s a good distraction when things are so uncertain these days. :) Which brings me to:

Can you guess who these boots belong to?

I was so sure on 1) Anna 2) Sasha 3) Aliona 5) Kamila and 9) Lil‘Bet but apparently 5 isn‘t Kamila. :scratch2:

I fear that there don't even be a 2020/2021 season. How? If the rink stay closed for months, which is probably what we will be looking at how will the be ready for the new season, besides no one even knows if the entire damm tvirus a d restrictions aren't going to continue until end of year.

Well, no one knows how the situation is going to evolve, there is a lot of uncertainty right now. For the athletes, certainly, it is a problem that they can‘t train on ice right now. But they can still stay in shape, do off-ice exercises and practice their choreography, if they have made the new programs already. It is not ideal but it could be worse if they accidentally spread the virus for example.

I guess we will have to see but for now I am still hopeful we will get to see a 2020-21 season. Maybe we will be missing a few competitions, maybe we will have many program repeats, maybe the entire GP season will start later, I don‘t know. But I refuse to give up on figure skating for next year altogether at this point. A lot can happen. The most important thing is health, though, and that this virus can be kept at bay somewhat at least.

One thing, I am wondering about, though, are the Olympics. What if they decide to hold the Summer Olympics a year later? Will the Winter Olympics follow suit and be a year later as well?

Also, Game of Thrones is brutal but speaking honestly, I know many 15-year olds who watched it and weren’t shocked by it at all. So, nope, I'm not buying that.

I agree. The commentator is totally wrong to think that Game of Thrones is not a story for teenagers, what with wonder-women flying around on dragons and all. (Were there any unicorns to appeal to the 11-13 set?)

Yes, exactly, bärenstark is the expression.

I got the videos from here. They actually aren‘t supposed to be online but with a VPN it works for me. He mostly keeps quiet even though he does name the most difficult elements and cannot help himself from expressing disappointment when Aliona fell in the FS. I cannot blame him, I was freaking out myself in the stands.

Geoblocked. Could you somehow upload RUS ladies skates on youtube?

Unfortunately I wasn't sitting close enough to capture what they said!

Oh, if everything had gone to plan, I would've seen the ladies perform their FS at Worlds tonight... :sad4:

Stay safe and healthy everyone!
Great job with the vids Batsu, although your camera could catch sharpness a bit quicker. :clapper::agree:

Thanks!

And yes, perhaps it's time to get a new camera! Here's for hoping there WILL be a 2020-21 season so I will have a chance to see (and record) more live skating!

Well, tbh, I‘ve never watched Game of Thrones so the knowledge I‘ve gathered is from friends discussing it endlessly around me. But I‘ve never heard anything of unicorns.

But in seriousness, as far as I know, it does deal with heavy themes and shows violence in very explicit ways. I‘m not a parent but I‘m not sure I‘d let an 11 year old watch it - probably not. Kids these days are exposed to tough stuff with the media and TV and everything but 11 is rather young, I‘d say. But Sasha‘s 15, that‘s different. And I can imagine that strong and fierce characters like Daenerys with her dragons and Arya will appeal to her more than, say, Bella Swan from Twilight. And I don‘t blame her for that...

I still wish someone would do a Harry Potter program, though, because that‘s my childhood. (And I still love it lol) The movies have some great music and you could make any program you want out of it. Something charming and cute like Kaiya from Canada did, or something serious and dark, especially with the last films.

Unfortunately, it is geoblocked for me too because I live in Austria, not Germany. I used a VPN too. And I don‘t know how to upload something on Youtube (or rather, I don‘t even have an account).. But I think the ISU should still have the entire ladies FS on Youtube. :)

If this doesn‘t work, here‘s some other videos I‘ve found of the Russian girls:

Aliona:

Anna:

Sasha:

Hope one of them works.

Looks like Anna has just been picked up by Nike. Since Sasha is with Adidas and Alina is with Puma, now all we need is for Reebok to reach out to Alyona so we can have a sportswear battle royale among the 4A.

Proof here: https://www.instagram.com/p/B9__KpkpbfH/ , and the big bear Anna was thrown looks on while Anna stretches and exercises in her attic bedroom ;-)

Yeah, it's new to me too. I wonder what her actual relationship is with Nike... Is she a brand ambassador or..?

:otopic: Moscow reported just 6 new cases today so probably things could become better there soon and skaters will be able to return to their rinks.

good for her regardless of what their relationship is - everyone knows that Russian ladies figure skating is an ever changing figure for being 'the top'; so its good that she's able to capitalize on great success even with a shortened season causing everyone to miss the highest profile competition and is able to bank some money for her future.

I'd say 15 is still young to watch rape, homosexual, paedophiliac scenes, burning human alive scenes, cutting limbs and throats scenes, etc.. :rolleye:

Objection: homosexual scenes are just like heterosexual scenes, or what? And don't say they are "not natural". They are. Nobody's hurt, but love plays its role.
