2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

But who are thinking? I don't think she is a Lori Nichol skater tbh. I think she might have fun with Shae-Lynn or Benoit's kind of choreography.

In that Forbes.ru article on the costs of highest level figure skating, there are some amounts mentioned, but who knows how accurate these are?

With most federations still under quarantine, when the ice suddenly reopens and season is announced, travel bans are lifted, the commercial choreographers will be in great demand and have to make choice about who they are going to service most likely. Priority choreography for Trusova comes at a hefty price I'd assume, so I think domestic choreographers and staging artists will be invited over expensive foreigners.

But I don't know the thickness of Plyushchenko's wallet, his ambitions and perhaps insidious desire to do things differently, and his willingness to pay 5 figure sums in USD for Trusova's programs? Will they send Trusova overseas for one, two, three weeks?

On the composition of candidates for the national teams of Russia

The FFKKR Executive Committee approved the composition of candidates for the national teams of Russia. A detailed list will be published on the FFKKR website later, subject to necessary amendments, in connection with the transition of athletes from one coach to another.

The team in women's single skating included: Alina Zagitova, Alena Kostornaya, Evgeny Medvedev, Alexander Trusov, Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, Anna Shcherbakova. In reserve: Anastasia Gulyakova, Sofia Samodurova, Ksenia Sinitsyna.

But maybe for an Olympic program it might be worth it? So not this year but next?

I was not trying to say that there aren't great choreographers in Russia who can work with her and produce great quality programs. I just don't know that many of them by name and thought Plushyfan might. In fact I think it would be really interesting to take a risk and bring in a non skating kind of choreographer to give Alexandra a really unique program that suits her to a t. Something like no one else has.

Lori programs are, I'm sure, not cheap. Neither is Shae-lynn or Jeff Buttle or David Wilson I'm sure.

9 names, 6 GP starts at 2 skaters each, so the reserves might not even get a chance in the GP if the top 6 do well.

Russia has 18 spots on the GP, 3 spots per event not 2 (2 per event is only for the JGP)
9 people on the list, each will get two spots.

This would exactly be my reasoning. I think a suitable person can be found in Russia, even drawing on Rudkovskaya's contacts in music and entertainment. The snag is: in command over skating skills 'владеющие коньком' from those choreographers, according to the TASS piece.

Plus, real artists of any arts are peculiar persons, often no so easy to work with, and certainly not open to unprofessional criticism. A subtle touch is required in working with them.

I wanted Ksenia to be there too, is she in the reserve? I hope she’ll get GP spots.

The article makes in sound like they’re easing the process of changing the countries for russian athletes, who are willing to go under another flag. I can quite put my finger on what’s the difference between the old process and new process, but to me it sounded like it’s going to be easier. Not sure if I have just read it wrong.

Too difficult Russian for me, legalese. I wonder if FFKKR should demand a transfer sum when a skater goes commercial on the FFKKR competitive license after being raised in the state system? Or does FFKKR retain its right to a cut of proceedings while continuing to pay the base stipend?

I thought Plyushchenko's remark on modern dance was more a slight at Zheleznyakov, but never mind.

In a sense his Academy is unconventional, so there might be an opening here, to break with existing patterns.

Notice however, in all of Plyushchenko's addresses and media outings it is mostly: ' I, me, mine ' instead of ' we, us, our '. Subtle narcissism? Or the logical train of though of the master over staff on his payroll, owner of things in his name?

In his latest, cited above, actually it is mostly "we" and impersonal; "I" is on the financial part and that he will not disclose the names of choreographers.

The development towards positive is in full swing!:agree::biggrin:

Gulyakova is only eligible for the host spot. I think Vasilieva will get the 18th spot based on her SB. Everyone else should get 2 spots (if the GP happens).

Guliakova may not get two since she is neither on 24SB nor WS lists. She will probably get one (host spot) at Rostelecom though and could be considered a replacement for Russian skater if she wins a Challenger early in the season. Vasilieva, Konstantinova or Tarakanova may get one spot instead though.

You are just ridiculous. There are modern dance lessons as well as ballet lessons in tha academy from the beginning. The dance teacher was this guy:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BhECwVsnBcn/ Look at how incredibly adorable they are in this video!!! He had more seriuos lessons of course.

and this guy is the other dance teacher https://www.instagram.com/remix23/ https://www.instagram.com/p/B1YFK67hLwC/

Sometimes Plush himself held dance lessons off ice https://www.instagram.com/p/B9_sXKlISx-/ and https://www.instagram.com/p/B9TaIBDI0cQ/ just for fun

and on ice https://www.instagram.com/p/B83_CwNI2Hx/  and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARZDWy61vLs  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HIHcpYxwz6I&t=40s -

Your message shows you have no idea how the academy is working! You don't know anything but you are the most devoted hater!

This is too much or too ridiculous! Go back to sport.ru forum. This is typical sentence from his Rusian haters. He says on that way because that is his academy, his money, his ... etc.

I like how you forgot Plushenko's interview some page ago. You posted that! He said the succes of his academy the reasult of the whole team's work! He has great team!

In this day and age even winning a challenger is not easy...

They've actually made it harder - previously min 'quarantine period' was 12 months (stipulated by ISU for athletes that have represented country A on an international level before applying for a change of flag to country B). RusFed has increased this period to 24 months today. Those athletes that have competed only on a national level in Russia, will have to wait the same 12 months now.

So there is essentially no chance for somebody to change federations now when they want to get into the 2022 Olympic Games? That window has just been closed.

Gorshkov said it is precisely to discourage 'poaching' of Russian skaters from the abroad: https://www.sport-express.ru/figure...azhdyy-god-po-30-40-zayavok-prihodit-1672917/

Apparently they get 30-40 requests each year.

He also told Tarasova and Rodnina to stop fighting and raising scandal: https://www.sport-express.ru/figure...a-dolzhny-dogovoritsya-obo-vsem-sami-1672919/

That’s what I’m wondering.... for some reason I thought it has it always been 2 years and 1 year...

My bet the Bolshoi choreographer will be Sergei Filin ( Ex Bolshoi director his face was poured down by someone with acid a few years ago if you remember). They are good friends they worked together not once. Sometimes he held ballet lessons on the Academy.

This program was choreographed by Filin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57grdU9z-70 and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bA8HK5xkJA the haters can be happy he fell in a 2A

For Tutberidze, the loss of coach Rozanov is more painful than the transfer of Trusova. It was he who for two years brought up the super juniors

Eteri Tutberidze’s group has a crisis: queen of quads Sasha Trusova left, followed by the promising Zhilina sisters, and also Yegor Rukhin.

Transitions of athletes are often unpleasant, but natural. As Tat'yana Tarasova correctly noted: Tutberidze will not be left without skaters. That is why the main loss of Khrustalny in May is coach Sergey Rozanov, who also chose Yevgeniy Plyushchenko's team.

For a couple of years in the best figure skating group, he proved himself to be a diverse specialist who puts ultra-si jumps and finds a common language with athletes. Probably, the mass outflow of athletes from Khrustalniy is partly due to Rozanov’s decision.

In juniors he made friends with Gleikhengauz, who recommended him to Tutberidze

Rozanov - Master of Sports in figure skating; but, like all Tutberidze-team coaches, he did not win big titles. His results from the senior Championships of Russia are characteristic: the penultimate place in 2006, the last in 2007. In those same years, Rozanov competed the junior Championship of the country, and there, too, it turned out embarrasing: 12th and 16th (again, the penultimate) places. In the protocols of the 2007 Championships of Russia it is much easier to find the choreographer of the Tutberidze group - Daniil Gleikhengauz, who then took bronze.

Daniil and Sergey became friends as skaters, and the future Olympic champion Nikita Katsalapov joined their company:

“ Sergey Rozanov, Daniil Gleikhengauz - I have known them since childhood, we performed together in solo, we have been together all our lives. I know them, I know their sporting character, and it seems to me that it is perfect (for the Tutberidze group), ” said Katsalapov.

When the opportunity presented itself to help a friend, Gleikhengauz used it by recommending Rozanov to the team - everything happened on the eve of the 2018 Games.

“ This is my friend whom I myself invited (after asking Eteri Georgiyevna) to work for us. Prior to this, Sergey was engaged in prep skating. And like all the coaches of our group, he grew up, received knowledge, technology. And when Sergey came to us, we also introduced him into our system and taught him what we know ourselves. ”

Rozanov completed his competitive career shortly after reaching adulthood. But in addition to the period that Gleikhengauz talked about, he worked in the shows of Ilya Averbukh and performed abroad - with Javier Fernandez; a fresh coach card on the Plyushchenko Academy’s website says that Rozanov also skated with Tarasova.

He set jumps for Kostornaya, Trusova and Valiyeva

In the Tutberidze group, the new specialist got used to it quickly: in the Olympic season, the senior trio of Tutberidze-Gleikhengauz-Dudakov focused on the adult students - Alina Zagitova and Yevgeniya Medvyedeva. So Rozanov worked with juniors and novices (from 10 to 15 years old), of whom there are many in Khrustalniy.

While the rest of the specialists went to international tournaments, Rozanov coached skaters in Moscow - and gradually grew into an universal specialist. This is the merit of Tutberidze, which teaches not only skaters, but also coaches:

“ I am engaged in coaching and productions. Initially, I did not work with programs, but Eteri Georgiyevna said that the trainer should be universal - be able to stage a program, work on sliding skills, and practice the jumping technique. So I am taught how to do it all right, ” Rozanov explained.

The 31-year-old specialist pays great attention to jumping. Before the 2017/18 season, the quadruples in the Tutberidze group were only just emerging - with the first attempts by Trusova and Shcherbakova. Two years later, there are many who have quads in their arsenal: Kamila Valiyeva, Sof'ya Akat'yeva, Veronika Zhilina, Maya Khromykh. Rozanov led them all in their most “jumpy” age: from 10 to 15 years.

According to Alyona Kostornaya, thanks to Rozanov, she went to the triple Axel first time.

“ If I recall the very first time, it was after my first junior season, after the World Championships. I tried to learn quadruple Toeloops and Salchov's in the harness. Then Sergey Alexandrovich suggested that I should try a triple Axel in the harness. I didn’t really want to, I started to deny.

Two or three times in training I jumped, and in the evening he told me to jump without insurance. I was surprised, but decided to try. The first attempt was a on a big lean and curve, I fell. The coach advised me to approach the jump at speed, so everything will work out. The second time I took off for real. And the next day we shot a video. "

After moving into senior ranks, Trusova, Kostornaya and Shcherbakova did not stop training with Sergey.

And already before the 2019/20 season, with the help of Rozanov, Kostornaya returned her trump card. After Open Test Skates, when everyone was talking about the quadruples of Shcherbakova and Trusova, the coach offered Alyona a triksel. And by the beginning of the season she came up with this ultra-si jump, which she used in both short and free programs.

I didn’t go to big tournaments, although I trained the participants

Rozanov played a key role in training skaters in Khrustalniy, but always remained in the shadows.

Most of the time, the juniors worked with him, but at the World Championships in Tallinn, Tutberidze, Gleikhengauz and Dudakov sat next to the winner Kamila Valiyeva in the Kiss and Cry. They also accompanied Dar'ya Usachyova and Maya Khromykh.

Tatyana Mishina also noted this trend:

“ The Junior Championships of Russia was held, but he was not there, although it was him who worked with all these girls. There were Tutberidze and Gleikhengauz. Rozanov probably wants to break through, he felt that coaching is in him, he did not want to sit in the sidelines. ”

And although Rozanov works with almost all the skaters of the group, he was designated as the personal coach only for Dar'ya Usachyova, Veronika Zhilina and Arseniy Fyodotov on the lists of the Russian national team on the website of the Ministry of Sports, and last season only by Sof'ya Akat'yeva. At the same time, in the ISU documents, Rozanov is a coach of the season leaders: Trusova and Kostornaya.

An important argument in favour of the Plyushchenko Academy is the ability to get out of the shadows. The two-time Olympic Champion promised Rozanov a separate group:

“ Seryozha Rozanov will be a full-fledged trainer at my academy. Nobody will push him, he will go to competitions, lead his group with me. Seryozha has his own group and his athletes. What kind? We’ll tell you later. ”

However, Gleikhengauz believes that Rozanov had no problems with Tutberidze’s team: “ To say that something did not suit him is ridiculous. ”

According to Tutberidze, the conditions in the team are equal for everyone. So, perhaps the major role was played by Rozanov’s ambitions, and not by the financial aspect that Aleksandr Zhulin spoke about: “ It is a surprise for me that he left Tutberidze's. Apparently, something is happening in their team, I do not know their pitfalls, what could have caused it. Maybe the lack of financial incentive affected (his decision). ”

He thanked the Khrustalniy trainers after leaving for Plyushchenko's

In addition to a fresh look and experience with the best skaters in the world, Rozanov has another trump card: he gets along well with athletes.

He accompanied Alina Zagitova on the set.

He performed paired elements with Sasha Trusova.

Trusova even separately thanked Rozanov after the Grand Prix Final.

“ Thanks to Sergey Aleksandrovich, who watched our training, skating runs from Moscow, called me and talked with me about mistakes, was supportive, ” Sasha wrote on Instagram after the tournament, where all the group’s main coaches were with her.

Rozanov created a positive image for himself. The transition of Trusova and Rozanov woke our figure skating during a time when there is no sport, or even full training. Tutberidze-team's dance teacher Alexey Zheleznyakov writes (and then deletes) one angry post after another, Plyushchenko replies with caustic comments.

Tutberidze wrote a message with her disappointment. All subscribed and unsubscribed from each other on Instagram.

And Rozanov, after a pause, made a beautiful gesture - he thanked every coach with whom he worked at Khrustalniy:

“ Thanks to all of you for being close at difficult times, helping, supporting with word and deed. I wish you to remain the same friendly and close-knit team. I will always warmly remember our joint work. ”

It looks like Trusova went to Plyushchenko after a coach with whom she had a good relationship. In her statement about the transition, Sasha spoke more warmly about Rozanov than about anyone else from Tutberidze’s staff: “ Special thanks to Sergei Rozanov for his work and faith in me. He speaks little of himself, preferring deeds rather than big words, but without his painstaking and honest work, I would not have achieved my achievements and victories. At the decisive moment, he offered me his shoulder, he is my reliable friend. "

Moreover, Rozanov shares her vision of the staging process: “ Figure skating is primarily a sport, choreography, in my opinion, is secondary. It’s not without reason that it is the second mark in the tally. ”

Maybe Plyushchenko has not yet revealed his own coaching talent, but by having designed Rozanov's transfer, he acted as a competent strategist and an excellent manager.

Ironically, thanks to these very qualities, Eteri Tutberidze created a school of champions.

Zhulin's is a bit cryptic, but one can understand that preparing price winning athletes and not receiving a cut of the prize money isn't exactly stimulating, if this is what Zhulin implies?
