2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Mariah needs to continue to drill those 3-3s and work on her consistency and PCS. She’s a PCS skater and with improved skating skills and consistency, she can get 67+ in PCS. There is no reason Mariah should not be a podium threat because she has ALL the talent in the world and we saw that the judges were willing to reward her when she was consistent. If she can bring Worlds level consistency to EVERY competition and improve with each event, she is a dark horse for international medals.

Also, her page on the USFSA website has been updated:

Short Music: "Radar" and "Work B****" by Britney Spears
Long Music: "Hallelujah" by KD Lang

I wish someone would skate to this version of Hallelujah:laugh2:

The livestream cut off right at Mariah's SP! Can't find a video anywhere. Was anyone there that recorded it?

Was about to say the same thing. She has a pretty decent score and is in first. I would love to see her new SP.

Me too. I looked on YouTube but couldn't find it there either. Looks like she's scored well and that's what really matters.

So sad the livestream cut out. She looked great and confident for a few seconds or more while I was able to watch. Very glad she is in first. Good start to the season for Mariah.

Set smaller goals. My goal is that Gracie can complete two programs with landing on most of her jumps and hopefully no pops. After that I hope she can make it to nationals. I also hope she doesn’t let bad results crush her resolve early on.

She is not the same Gracie and has f shown any sign that she’s ready to compete at the same level as 2016. It’s going to take way more than one season for her to get to that level. This time, I hole there isn’t an enormous backlash that she’s not the old Gracie.

I agree. If she were able to even complete a 4-5 triple long with one +3t combo that would be a huge accomplishment for her. To set these expectations of her and perception that she could get on the world team and such are simply unrealistic. I look forward to seeing how she’s progressed since Russia. Will she be doing South Atlantic regionals then? Because that is next week :luv17:

I agree, with the addition that it's *her* goals that matter. Maybe those are placing top 3 at Nationals, or just making it to Nationals, or even just landing a 3-3 at Regionals. That's always the accomplishment, no matter what - the goals we set for ourselves. If she meets those I'll be happy for her.

Agree, people think we have to believe she is going to be perfect to be supportive. ( and that she will soon apparently land 4S and 3A in competition) However, that is actually putting a ton of pressure on Gracie . I just hope she has skates that she is, personally, proud of at regionals and fulfills her personal goals for this year.

This Nathan fan posted a small clip on Twitter, there is no sound, but you have an idea of what the costume looks like. She has a habit of making pictures and videos black and white. I guess since this is not full video, there shouldn’t be problem posting it.

I love the costume. There seems to be a trend this year of ladies wearing their skirts very long, and I just hate that look. Beautiful young girls now look matronly and dowdy. Blech. Mariah looks beautiful and fit, and I saw a nice 3F before the stream cut out. I would love to see her make the Olympic team.

i really hope we have 3 spots back by then, we're going to need them.

Gracie has always been one of the best technical skaters in the world. Her issues were not technical so there is no reason she can't land triple axle or quad. Competition is competition though. The reality is what are her goals. She can make Nationals easily on a safe solid skate through both regionals and sectionals. Her base level on skating skills is huge. Lets wait and see.

Also Sarah Jung had a nice skate today in JGP and I was thinking her coach sounded familiar. Maybe Kimmie Meissner or Johnny Weir?

If she remains injury-free, I'd be surprised if she didn't make Nationals. Jumps aside, she is a good spinner and also achieved high levels in her steps. I also don't think anyone can come close to her PCS at the regional or sectional level if her endurance has improved. Mistakes will probably happen in her first few outings, but she has a lot of opportunities to make up points; if she can't tack a 3T on her lutz, she is able to get it on her 2A. There aren't a lot of women in the US (not already qualified for Nationals) who have that ability.

Sarah Jung is coached by Pam Gregory according to her ISU biography. Gregory coached Kimmie Meissner. Sarah's Free during the summer included a 3A, 3Lz+3T, and 3F+Eu+3S. I'm not sure if she will be attempting the 3A.

Mariah has bare legs in that Twitter photo? Like Surya Bonaly used to? Note the skin-tone socks and underpants/compression shorts...

Sarah jung skating looks very elegant in my opinion. She has great lines and a rotation is very quick. She is in the last warmup group for the freeskate.

i highly doubt this- that is a really, really uncomfortable feeling. she may be wearing thinner tights- the darker shade on her upper thigh could be part where the material gets thicker, like a regular stocking. the "socks" are called bunga pads, they provide a barrier against any areas that are rubbing/cause pain in your boot. Mariah wears them regularly.
