2019-20 U.S. Ladies Figure Skating

Does anyone know Bradie's chance at the GPF?
Her chance are not that slim, but not that big either . Trusova, Scherbakova, Zagitova, Kostornaya and Kihira probably take first 5 spot. Bradie will fight for the last spot with Tuktamysheva and Miyahara, (Young You too if she got 2nd GP). by the end of Cup of China we can have better picture since both of them compete there. Whoever take silver will probably qualify

I am so proud of Bradie. That field was as deep as the ocean and she did very well. I don't know if she'll make the GPF but, she really had a nice GP season.

What I always loved and appreciated about Bradie, is that she just works and proves herself on ice, time and time again.
Her amazing growth and progress over the last few years is truly a testament to her character and determination.

I think it's possible she'll make it but only because another skater has to withdraw from injury. This seems to be a common enough experience that it is likely to occur again this season. At least competiting this early she has her points in the bag.

Does anyone know how Haley Beavers did at her regionals?

Haley placed first with 135+, but got only about 68 on TES, so will need a higher score at
Sectionals to make it to Nationals.

Also, Heidi Munger was first at New Englands, but scored only 129.

At Upper Great Lakes, Maxine Bautista won with 165 and does have the TES for Nationals.

At Central Pacific, with Caroline Zhang as assistant tech specialist, Sierra Venetta won with 153 and had qualifying TES. Emilia Murdoch was second at 140; a few points shy on TES.

In Senior Ladies at Central Pacific regionals, Sierra Venetta and Milly Murdock placed first and second, respectively -- in SP, in FS, and overall.

Sierra exceeded the TES minimum for Nationals.

Not sure whether Milly already got the TES minimum elsewhere. (She came very close at JGP Lake Placid, where her TES total was 74.76; and at Glacier Falls, where it was 74.35.)
If not, I am hopeful that she will get it at sectionals.

ETA:
LOL, I think Moxiejan and I were updating re Central Pacific at the same time.

… Also, Heidi Munger was first at New Englands, but scored only 129. ...

Fortunately, at Glacier Falls, Heidi already achieved the TES minimum for Nationals.

21.58 SP TES + 56.37 FS TES. Thanks to @edges_of_glory, who had tweeted the detailed results sheets for GF.

Could Bradie do this as her planned program content? :

3lutz-3toe
3flip
2A-3toe
3loop
3lutz-eu-3toe

I’m just wondering why she does a 3flip-2toe-2loop when she could be doing a more difficult combination.

No, you had three 3T, which means the 3rd one will be invalidated.

By the rules yes, but stamina would be the big question mark to do a second triple-triple combination in the FS in the bonus section.

Bradie needs every point she can get in her BV to compete for international podiums this year, though. As we saw at Skate America and Skate Canada, it is highly probable that the ladies podium at GPF/Worlds will consist only of those with a 3A or quads. Do we know if Bradie training one/both of these?

She did have a very fine GP season though, certainly her best to date, and she should be proud of that. I knew it would be very close with Zhenya in Canada, but I did not count on You Young delivering as well as she did. GPF is a question mark right now, but it seems that she will at least be an alternate. She is slated for Warsaw Cup in mid-November, which I assume she will do unless she does end up in the final. I think her big focus is probably regaining her national title, which is possible if she continues to build upon her strong start.

Best of luck to our ladies competing this week. Mariah Bell and Starr Andrews will compete in France whilst Isabeau Levito and Mia Kalin will be competing in China (Advanced Novice).

On the topic of Bradie, once she cleans up the 3Lz-3T in the Short, she will score 75-77. Additionally, with a clean Long, she can score 145-150. That equates to about 220-227 points give or take a few. With a clean Russian trio, Rika Kihira, and Young You, Bradie could feasibly place in the Top 6 at Worlds (barring extraordinary performances from Sakamoto and/or Satoko). If any of them falter, Bradie could swoop in and take bronze. Although people might say I'm a little too optimistic, Bradie is the type of skater to take advantage of slippery ice and the aforementioned skaters are big risks, big rewards type of skaters. Also, Bradie's PCS is already insanely high for being so early in the season and it'll only (hopefully) go up from here. Best of luck to Bradie.

I am so excited to see Mariah this weekend! We still haven't seen the full short program, but she did so well at her Challenger, so hopefully that continues into the grand prix season.

Not that I've heard and I believe she was injured in the offseason since she WD from the Autumn Classic

Pretty sure the only way Tennell regains her national title is if Liu doesn't skate at senior nationals

I would be tickled pink if Bradie gets a 3A in a few years. Talk about doing it backwards!

She's got the performance side nailed and doesn't really need to fight for her US spot with Alysa being so young still. She's got time to up her tech.

She is very tall for a figure skater which is my only worry. But she's done growing so at least she knows what she's working with.

She went to Mishin this summer to practice a 3A. However, then she got injured so I don't think she will be adding any more jumps this season. I think it is quite hard for a skater of her height to rotate fast enough to get a quad. ( but who knows)

Obviously, the GPF is not likely. However, Bradie should be proud of her performances. In both instances, she was the highest scoring competitor without a quad or 3A. Her performance abilities have really improved.

Alysa is most certainly the favorite, but stranger things have happened in the sport.

As former national champions have attested to, the first defense of your title is always the hardest. Based on the scoring last year, the US judges looked ready to give Bradie or Mariah the title, but of course, they had errors in the free. This year, Alysa has added a quad (maybe two) and she will receive even higher PCS because A) she is the reigning national champion and a JGPF qualifier, but also B) she has genuinely improved in all of the PCS areas. It's Alysa's title to win, but as another poster commented, Bradie is a solid and consistent competitor that can capitalize on mistakes by the higher BV ladies.

Anything is possible, but I'm guessing that Alysa will not only win, but win by a huge margin. Maybe 20 points or so after the long. Like Trusova, Alysa thrives on competition and rarely melts down. It is a race for the quads and/or 3A's, and by the time we are gearing up for the Olympics those who are landing 3A's and quads will replace those who are not-and skating skills will matter very little. It is a new world for women's figure skating.
