Since Páfos Net mentioned Giorgia's participation at the end of their article about last night's Cyprus Olympic Committee Youth Awards, I can now tell you that Giorgia Isabella Sechi and Laura Farran will be competing at the Cup Of Tyrol.

I just wish the organisers would hurry up and announce the full Provisional Entry List, because I really want to know who else will be competing in Innsbruck!

Very impressive contingent of Italian Ladies in both Juniors and Seniors. :cheer: Just a pity that the one that I really wanted to be there isn't on the list (Carolina). :disapp:

Surprised that they are only sending one skater in Senior Men. Although, they do have a good few Junior Men going. Including Frangipani.

after all the competition is in their backyard

True. Let's face it, the majority of Italian skaters are from the north of the country. And a good few of them are from the South Tyrol. Which was why I was hoping that Carolina might make her comeback here. A smaller competition that doesn't require much travelling.

But, alas :disapp:

As somebody who is from a place where names have political connoctations, I'm not going to get sucked into that particular discussion.

I only used the name that the region is normally known by in the English speaking world. Nothing more to it than that.

I am still hoping that Carolina might be back for Worlds. But, I don't think it would be wise for her to go straight into the biggest competition of the season. Like, look what happened when Plushenko tried that in 2014. So, I would prefer her to test the water beforehand. And I thought this would be a good competition to try that.

But, giving it a bit longer to recover is probably a good thing. :agree:

The only thing I know is that the day before you posted this question, she put up a video of herself on a treadmill. And she looked to be walking fine in it.

By the way, just further to my observation about the large Italian contingent, have you looked at the entries for the InterClub competition?

https://www.cupoftyrol.at/app/download/15340068824/ICOTI19_Entries-all+04.02.-19+Interclub.pdf

There are no less than EIGHTEEN Italian girls competing in Advanced Novice!!! :jaw: :drama:

By comparison, there are 10 Austrian girls in the same competition.

I just heard something important for the Cup Of Tyrol while watching today's Ski Jumping coverage.

I've known all along that this year's Nordic World Championships are being held at Seefeld, and that they run from Wednesday 20[SUP]th[/SUP] February to Sunday 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] March.

Here is the time schedule for the Nordic Worlds:
https://www.seefeld2019.com/en/competition-program-english-2

But, in today's commentary David Goldstrom mentioned in passing that the Large Hill competitions for the Ski Jumping and the Nordic Combined are actually being held at the Bergisel in Innsbruck.

Hearing this prompted me to look up where Seefeld actually is, and it is only about 15 miles from Innsbruck.

The Cup Of Tyrol is during the second week of Nordic Worlds, from Wednesday 27[SUP]th[/SUP] February to Saturday 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] March.

So, if the majority of people who are going to the Nordic Worlds are basing themselves in Innsbruck, anybody who wants to go to the Cup Of Tyrol could find it pretty difficult to get accomodation. And pretty expensive.

You know, after missing Giorgia's Junior GP debut at Czech Skate due to not being able to get transport from Kraków to Ostrava, I had toyed with going to the Cup Of Tyrol. But, now that I have found out about the Nordic Worlds being nearby at the same time, and the problems it could cause, I am relieved that the flights were a). not direct and b.) out of my price range. So, I didn't get as far down the line, and as attached to the idea of going, as I did with the JGP.

Just to let you know that the Interclub competitions started at the top of the hour.

Here is the livestream:

https://livestream.com/sportevents/events/7993040

And here is the Entries / Results Page for the Interclub part of the event:

http://skateaustria.vs91-250-98-130.cloud-he.de/img/competition/4.2018_19/171/index.htm

Chicks Boys is has just finished (there was only 1 entry), and Chicks Girls is starting now.

The Novice competitions are due to start at 11:45 CET (10:45 GMT) with Basic Novice Girls. That is actually the competition that I specifically want to see today as I know one of the girls competing in it.

Sorry for the late post. My Mum was on the computer trying to find a phone number. (There is a lot to be said for having physical phone directories. So much handier all round!)

Loving the support that the skaters are giving each other in these young level competitions. Practically every time somebody goes to the sofa to get their results, they are joined not just by their coach but by some of the other skaters!

It's just lovely to see this camaraderie.

Oh. My. Goodness!!!

During the Cubs Group 2 Warm-Up, the rinkside announcer took the opportunity to go through the officials.

The Technical Specialist is Kerstin Frank!!! :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:

Way to make a guy feel old! :drama:

I don't remember Kerstin ever announcing her retirement. Like, she was still competing last season!

Now that's started me wondering: does anybody know if Kerstin's fiancé is on the lookout for a new Dance partner, or if he has retired too? After I finally got over the shock of the split between Kana and Chris, I was secretly hoping that Kerstin and Chris would become partners on-ice as well as off. But, if she is now going down the road of becoming an official, it looks like this fantasy isn't going to happen. :disapp:

Well, all the best to Kerstin with this new role in skating, and to Chris with whatever his plans are!

Way to start the Basic Novice Girls competition! :cheer:  :points:

The first girl was skating to an AC/DC medley!!!

I particularly loved when she started doing a bit of air guitar during "Thunderstruck"

We need more rock music in figure skating.

And then second girl comes on and the first thing you hear is the part of "When You Wish Upon A Star" that is played at the start of all Disney films. :palmf:

Talk about a contrast! :drama:

Didn't recognise the music after it, but judging by her costume I suspect it was from the live action re-make of "The Jungle Book". (Which I am still angry that I forgot about when it was shown on TV at Christmas!)

When one of the skaters came out wearing a red dress, I should have known what music I was about to hear.

It is the ultmate compliment when you have an iconic programme, and somebody decides to use it as their inspiration the following season. But, it is always going to draw comparisons. Which is a risky tactic when it is Zagitova's "Don Quixote" that we are talking about.

Fortunately, she did not go as far as to wear a tutu dress. It was just a normal dress.

She used exactly the same music cut that Alina used in the first half of her FS. But, when she reached the point where Alina started doing all her jumps, a different piece of music was used. Which was probably wise, to stop the comparisons.

But, talk about a crowded sofa when she went to get her results. I think I counted FIVE other girls joining her! :drama:

Interesting transition to the second group. The last skater that was due to go in Group 1 withdrew. So, they waited a minute, and then called the Group 2 skaters out. Which was perfectly normal. But then, after introducing the skaters, the announcer said that 2 of the skaters that were out there hadn't submitted any music!

Like, surely that is one of the first things you would do when you arrive at the rink for a competition!

Just reached the first resurfacing of the day.

I've never watched competitions for skaters below Advanced Novice before, so is it normal for it to take this long to have a resurfacing?!

Like, normally there is at most 12 skaters between resurfacings. But here we have had 34 skaters on the ice before the first resurfacing. And it was supposed to be 36 skaters, except that we had 2 Italians withdraw from Basic Novice Girls. :drama:

I dread to think what the ice must have been like for the recent girls.

Nervous, as the girls that are the reason that I am watching today are topping and tailing this group.

But, at least the girls in this group will have the best ice conditions of the entire Basic Novice Girls competition.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST VANESSA AND LAURA!!! :cheer:
