Is there always this few Pairs teams at Europeans? There will be more Pairs teams at US Nationals.

There's especially few pairs teams this year... Usually there's 14-16 teams competing. Many pairs split or retired last season and were not replaced in their countries. Last time with so few pairs was in 1989...
Let's hope that the new junior teams will progress and join the senior events.

Snow is shoveled for now. More coming and the plows have not been through yet (sidewalk and street) so I'll be out again after the Pairs.

I'm really hopeful for all the pairs tonight that we get a good competition! Really rooting hard for my Austrians and of course for B/K who I think are delightful and remind me of Moskvina teams of yore.

I'm super glad that T/M have gone back to their SP from last year. Even though I prefer Vanessa and Morgan I think Evgenia and Vladimir are the better team and Evgenia's flow out of the throw jumps is just lovely and their twist is to die for.

In my ideal world I'd love to see a podium of T/M, J/C and either B/K or Z/K.

BTW.. I don't know if anyone was listening to the music during the ice resurface but that was one of the worst covers of "Rise up" that I have ever heard. Was it by the niece of the DJ or something?

I was going to watch the Pairs LIVE up until tea time, but realised that it would be a more economical use of time to do something else between the Opening Ceremony and eating, and then watch the Pairs in one go.
