With 17 pairs, the number of entries is in the average of the last years.

Pairs who met the SP TES only : Hyang Mi RO / Kum Chol HAN (PRK)
Pairs who met the FS TES only : Heidrun PIPAL / Erik PIPAL (AUT), Darya RABKOVA / Vladyslav GRESKO (BLR), Yuchen WANG / Yihang HUANG (CHN), Daria DANILOVA / Michel TSIBA (NED)

Last chance to qualify to Junior Worlds this week in Oberstdorf during the Bavarian Open !

5 teams are especially to follow : Pipal/Pipal (Austria), Rabkova/Gresko (Belarus), Roscher/Schuster (Germany), Danilova/Tsiba (Netherlands) and Zendulkova/Fukas (Slovakia)

Last tickets validated for Zagreb at the Bavarian Open :
- Letizia Roscher and Luis Schuster, now Germany can use their 2nd spot
- Tereza Zendulkova and Simon Fukas, who can be the first slovak pair to compete at JW since 2009
- Alyssa Montan and Manuel Piazza, who beat their teammates Contarino/Pauletti in Oberstdorf... Italy has now to choose between 2 pairs for one spot.

Austrians Pipal/Pipal only reached the FS TES. Pairs from Belarus and The Netherlands failed to reach the SP TES too.

Why is the US not sending Liu/ Meyh (the winners of Bavarian Open)? It seems to be the strongest US Junior pair and they must have the minimum pts. for sure.

They only just got the minimums. They're a new team. And I don't think they're the strongest US team. Feng/Nyman made the JGPF. And Lockley/Prochnow's Jr Score at US Nats was better than Liu/Meyh's in Sr. They could have sent Liu/Meyh instead of Finster/Nagy in the 3rd spot, but L/M did Jr pairs at Golden Spin in December and only scored 97.80 total.

Surprising indeed... I'm curious to know which pair is the 1st alternate between them and Pepeleva/Pleshkov.
Pepeleva/Pleshkov finished 4th at Russian Junior Nationals, but the pairs ranked 5th and 6th didn't compete internationaly and cannot go to JW. Akhantieva/Kolesov and Poluianova/Sopot WD from Nats... That lets quite no other choice for Russia to call back the reigning champions

Daria and Denis as subs

I guess it is a way to earn extra points. Leonova did junior worlds one year when she was already skating in seniors, so did some other single skaters. In pairs it hasn’t been as common because pairs have usually moved to seniors only when they aged out, whereas Daria and Denis moved with two or three more seasons of junior eligibility.
