can you elaborate?Congratulations to Natalie & Bruce on their gold medal in Slovakia. They now have the second-highest first event score for any dance team, so their hunt for JGP Final qualification is off to a great start.
They got a big assist from Krylova not reading the rulebook, but whatever, on its own terms it was easily their strongest performance of that free dance (and their twizzles do seem to be improving).
Kaganovskaia & Angelopol would have won except that their choreographic character step contained an illegal move (sliding on both knees by both partners), as a result of which they got two fall deductions and negative GOE on the element. Even a base level character step with no fall deductions would have been enough for them to win. Team Krylova evidently did not understand the rules regarding choreographic elements.can you elaborate?
i see so i have to blame krylova for messing up my prediction game scoreKaganovskaia & Angelopol would have won except that their choreographic character step contained an illegal move (sliding on both knees by both partners), as a result of which they got two fall deductions and negative GOE on the element. thanks for explaining. They will be competing against Vasilisa Kaganovskaia and Valeriy Angelopol again, as well as Katarina Wolfkostin and Jeffrey Chen. That will be very competitive and exciting!Congratulations to Natalie & Bruce on their gold medal in Slovakia. I've been following her this tournament. She's an exciting player. This is completely off topic.......Canadians, is Leylah Fernandez making headlines where you are? People are saying that she's the next Genie Bouchard. A Junior Slam Champion and headed to the Semi Finals at the US Open. With all the US Ladies out, she is the last North American player left in the tournament. Wishing her good luck in her Match.
you know how much i love tennis.. .between Leylah and Felix, both born in Montreal, we got a lot to cheer for... and of course Gabby is also in semis in doublesThis is completely off topic.......Canadians, is Leylah Fernandez making headlines where you are? the other half of the draw is stronger because Leylah took out 3 huge names in her own halfI've been following her this tournament. She's an exciting player.
I think she can beat Sabalenka, who was not impressive in the QF, and make the final. I think other half the draw is stronger, so winning the tournament is another story - but she's got a chance.
This is an absolute fact! When Serena didn't enter and so many slam champions went out, I really thought this tournament belonged to Elina Svitolina. Leylahs win over her is when she made a believer out of me.the other half of the draw is stronger because Leylah took out 3 huge names in her own half![]()
My money was on Pliskova. That didn't age well. This is an absolute fact! When Serena didn't enter and so many slam champions went out, I really thought this tournament belonged to Elina Svitolina. Leylahs win over her is when she made a believer out of me.
Right......I think these players are truly beginning to see how great Steffi and Serena's Slam counts in the 20's are. I often talk about how hard it must be to stay motivated to training hard once you've become a millionaire. Look at Genie Bouchard, she became rich and famous seemingly over night ( Here In The States ) Like Maria Sharapova before her, your life gets pulled in all sorts of new directions. Caroline Wozniacki admitted that once she won her only Slam, that she felt fulfilled and was ready to leave tennis behind and enjoy her life.My money was on Pliskova. That didn't age well.
Genie... yup... early on, her career was derailed by out of tennis activities.. though it is undeniable that she kept training... you cannot play her style of game if you aren't fit... i guess the focus wasn't there...Right......I think these players are truly beginning to see how great Steffi and Serena's Slam counts in the 20's are. Genie is also a frequent guest on the Tennis Channel. I can see her becoming a Commentator in the future. She is not only beautiful, she is extremely intelligent and I think she'd be great as a Broadcaster.Genie... yup... early on, her career was derailed by out of tennis activities.. though it is undeniable that she kept training... you cannot play her style of game if you aren't fit... i guess the focus wasn't there...
Then, she came back to it... and remember the concussion from slipping in the showers at USOPEN... that derailed her comeback..
she was playing very well this winter and spring, announcing another return to the top.... but then shoulder injury... she had major surgery a while back...
Genie loves the sport and works very hard for it... fame got to her too quickly.. and perhaps people need to look back now... what happened to her is happening to others, for instance, Osaka or Sloane Stephens etc... get famous too early, get super wealthy for playing a game you love to early, and it's easy to lose a hold of yourself. Barty stepped aside of tennis for a while before returning... I think that there is a trend in tennis now to address these issues... Hopefully, Leylah and Bibi have their heads together and their bodies hold up.... Bibi did pretty well considering how Maria Sakkari was playing... I feel that this may have been the strongest match up of the tournament so far.
Back to skating : who misses Patrick Chan?MEEEEEEE
