At this point, I wouldn't include Camden at all!Team will be Nathan and Jason and Vincent. Ilia could be top six at Nats. Jimmy, Yaro, Maxim, Tomoki, Andrew, another junior will be top ten.
Notice I did not include Camden.

This is an excellent question!!!! I always called him "Baby Max" because he reminded me so much of Max Arron. I'd love to see him skate great and prove himself at Nationals.
... FWIW, the USFS assignments page lists only Eric Prober for JGP Russia.
The USFS page was last updated on Aug 18, and it does not list Lucas Broussard for JGP Russia -- although he is on the ISU's entry list as of Aug 17.
I really enjoyed his skate as well - and on a more superficial note, I'd love to see his mom in the KnC sometime!
Ilia's original Instagram handle was generated when he was something like 12 or so. He might be forgiven for the hubris.
Thanks for the info - I'll have to pull them up and check them out. Both of Ilia's parents were with him at 2019 JGP Lake Placid.
In the ISU video of his Lake Placid FS, both parents are with Ilia in the Kiss and Cry -- plus Ted Barton talks quite a bit about Ilia's mother.
(Off the top of my head, I don't know remember whether both parents also were in the Kiss and Cry for Lake Placid SP, but my guess would be Yes.)
My money is on JimmyUpdates from USFS assignments page, as of Aug 23:
U.S. Classic: Ma, Naumov, Sjoberg, TranAutumn Classic: Pulkinen (Go, Camden!
)
JGP Slovenia: Martynov
Also:
USFS assignments page has started using double asterisks to denote placeholder assignments.FWIW, it has added Broussard with double asterisks to JGP Russia.Prober remains listed for JGP Russia too.

FWIW, it was after his four successful quads at 2020 Skate America that Ilia changed one of his Instagram accounts from @lutzboi to @quadg0d.
At that time, he also had a dormant @lutzgod account.
Anyway ... although it is early in the season, I agree that Ilia's chances for 2022 Olympic team are not negligible (but not very high).
Meanwhile, congratulations to Iliaand Lucas
for their Courchevel medals.
Perhaps we will find out this week who will get the third Skate America slot?
My understanding is that Champs Camp is scheduled to take place this week at Ford Ice Center in Bellevue (Nashville area).
Haha wow! Sadly I can’t see his famous insta jump-posts. It’s obvious that he works on other elements as well, even if he doesn’t share that on social media.Speaking of Ilia and teenage social media self-promotion...
His latest Instagram post is a clip of his 4F in practice, which, admittedly, is a "wow" jump.
His comment: 5/6 quads landed guess what is next
I’m still pretty sure that Nathan, Jason and Vincent are the ones for Beijing. But it’s exciting if Ilia, Yaroslav and others can stir things up.
As for Ilia I read the interview where he said he’ll fight for an olympic spot. Could happen and age shouldn’t be a thing. Actually it would be a great experience for him if it happens and he also competes at 2026 olympics. Whatever, he must show consistency and needs a well skated international senior competition to show he's worth a spot. Minimum tech shouldn't be a problem. It’s funny how he hypes himself, but if it works for him, good for him
On another note; all the best to Lucas Broussard in the future. I found him really enjoyable and special to watch.

Lol, what's the issue with Camden??? Not more inconsistent than many others.Updates from USFS assignments page, as of Aug 23:

Isn’t this how most talented athletes with the goods appear? Humble is good but athletes showing off is more funI'm more of the "speak softly and carry a big stick" kind of guy, but Ilia seems to favor shouting, "Hey! Look at this big stick! I've got 5/6 of the big sticks!" Ah, the confidence and joy of youth.
I'd be extremely disappointed in an athlete who DIDN'T fight for an Olympic spot. I agree that age shouldn't be a determining factor. You've got to show you have the goods.

Thanks, the question I was going to ask next was which US men actually said they are fighting for an olympic spot. With all props to our 16 year old quad god:
Ilia is not the *only* men's skater, saying hey, I may not be "top 3", but I am going to fight for an Oly spot. Tomoki has said it in a podcast, almost exactly the same words that Ilia used (although Tomoki was very wry and humble about it). I believe Todd E. has said the same thing about Yaro, although I can't pinpoint the interview
I think a lot of us wouldCamden has begun to made me think of him as this generations "Paul Wylie". All the amazing skating skills, artistry, but he just blows it in competition! He may have ONE amazing skate of his life somewhere down the line at some competition. And I use the word "may" very lightly.

IMHO age shouldn't be a factor whether you're discussing Malinin, Ma, Paniot, or whoever deserving an Olympic spot. If they bring the goods, send 'em. Now defining what bringing the goods means...there's the tricky part! With all props to our 16 year old quad god:

Every single men's skater has said, I may not be a favorite for the Olympic berth, I may have to fight for it, but fight I will. Of course they did, what competitive athlete is going to say otherwise?
Ilia's age alone should not be factor for or against an Olympic spot. Jimmy Ma's age alone should not be a factor for or against.
Now the wisdom that comes with age....![]()

I think Jimmy has improved an enormous amount in all areas since moving to Boston. I think he’s put his envelope money to very good use.I think Jimmy Ma has already had the skate of his life. He has always been inconsistent but is a crowd favorite because of his unique programs and the fact that he doesn't take himself too seriously. The crowd responds to him. He doesn't have the "polish" of many of the skaters who have been mentioned in the last posts but he is very athletic. IF he landed all his jumps? I think he'd still lose to an equally clean Camden or Ilia just on PCS. The comparison of Camden to Paul Wylie was very interesting and that may be right. Just remember that the dearly beloved Jeremy Abbott had many skates that were less than perfect and yet at the end of his competitive career he was more consistent....also a beautiful skater to watch.
Does Ilia have Senior minimums? Remember, you can't use minimums earned in a Junior event at the Senior level. So the whole argument could be moot at this point anyway.

They didn't. Knierim/ Frasier had to submit a video to the ISU to get the minimum TES even though they participated in Skate America. He would need to be sent to a senior competition this year to get the minimums. I believe USFS will send him. I don't see him as a likely Olympian, but he could be sent to 4CC or Worlds. He placed fifth at the last Skate America 76.75/143.56 so he’s probably achieved min TES, but not sure if those scores counted.
