:ot: I was reading through the Cup Of Russia thread and several posters talked about Mariah Bell "Eating Ice Cream" What does that mean? Are they talking about her weight? If so, I'd like to see these posters receive a warning. I truly hope I'm wrong in my thinking because I consider this site to be a "Safe Place" for people to read the comments and not feel attacked in any way.

From what I gather, they had some very good ice cream in the kiss and cry, which Mariah had fun sampling. Someone who got to watch will confirm, I'm sure!

An ice cream company was one of the event sponsors so there was a stack of ice cream bars at the kiss and cry for the skaters.

Posters (and I don’t remember if here or another forum) have been going on and on about Alysa eating ice cream and how they will never become Olympic champion because of ice cream and needs to lose weight. I went off about it so it had to be here as I don’t post in the other place.

What? Why?
See I don’t know how to find it anymore, I’m not that great with IG but they said something about “they didn’t do figure skating anymore.” I’m paraphrasing because I can’t find it.

Oh, no, it is not about the weight! :)
In Rostelecom Cup, in Kiss and Cry area, there was lot of ice creams sticks meant for the skaters after the a performance . So Maria picked up quite a few ... it was endearing moment, nothing else Of course, she kept only one of them :)

This is so disappointing. Don't these people realize that these skaters are doing everything in their power to be ready for this Olympic Season. I find this behavior truly shameful.

@mrrice, I mean Mr. Butyrskaya lol, sometimes I wonder if you even watch any of the GP events. Even if you only had time to watch Mariah's skate, you would have seen that display in the KnC. :p

ICE CREAM FOR ALL!

First of all.......Calling me Mr Butyrskaya is the BEST thing I've read all day. I saw Mariah's SP on Youtube but, it did not include the K-n-C. I went to the Rostelecom page on GS and they kept talking about Mariah eating Ice Cream and I was very confused. Fortunately someone explained it to me and I just laughed at my mistake. I think I'm sensitive due to the comments I've been reading about Alysa and her non existent weight problem.

I tell my son, "Get you a girl who looks at you like @mrrice looks at Maria Butyrskaya."

We all kept seeing the treats and guessing it was ice cream and finally found out it was when the Canadians finally ate one in view. Moskvina & students had a small party. Mariah was the last skater to skate and grabbed a bunch and laughed, but later put all but one back. I wonder if she had requests from her friends. It was all in good fun during the competition threads. Outside of those threads, I don't know what was said, but I'm sure someone was small and petty about the partakers.

My dream Olympic team would be : Alysa Liu, Lindsay Thorngren and Gracie Gold

I wonder if Gracie win national can she have time to earn the SP and FS technical required for the Olympic ?

Alysa and Lindsay are ok with that, but USFS forgot about sending Gracie to a challenger isn't it.

Good luck to Amber Glenn at Golden Spin this week! 💪 👏

Also to Gabbie Izzo, Hanna Harrell, and all of Team USA. 🇺🇸

Please stay healthy, everyone. 😷

Women's SP and FS will be on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

She could have been sent to Golden Spin. It’s unfortunate USFS chose to count her out. ...

How is it fair to claim that USFS "chose to count" Gracie Gold out????

The entry deadline for Golden Spin was Nov 12.
Gracie did not compete in Alpharetta until Nov 18 (SP) and Nov 19 (FS).

Or ... if you are saying that USFS should have made assignments to Golden Spin based on Leesburg results from Oct 29-30, then Jill Heiner and Rena Ikenishi should have been line in well ahead of Gracie.
Leesburg scores: Heiner 172.62; Ikenishi 169.75; Gold 163.62.
Unless you think it also would be fair to complain first that USFS counted Heiner and Ikenishi out, then how would it be fair to complain that USFS counted Gold out?

How I so wish Gracie could have had a competition like this weekend earlier so she could've gone to Golden Spin.

The reality is that we do not know how much earlier Gracie would have been capable of her scores in Alpharetta.

Three weeks earlier in Leesburg, what she was capable of was 163.62.

Again: Gracie's score in Alpharetta (175.76) came too late for a chance to be assigned to a Challenger.
It was not a matter of USFS forgetting to send her to one.

Even if Gracie unexpectedly were to place in the top three at Nationals and thereby get herself into Priority Group 3, her international BOW that would count toward Olympic selection would consist only of Cranberry Cup, where her score was 138.69 -- which would pale in comparison to international scores of others in Priority Group 3.
At Cranberry, Gracie was 67 points behind Alysa Liu; 40 pts behind Mariah Bell; 36 pts behind Audrey Shin; and 20 pts behind Sierra Venetta.

IMO: Unless Gracie's Nats score somehow were to be literally off-the-charts ginormous -- with super-extreme margins over 2022 Nats scores of others in Priority Group 3 -- I honestly would not see how to justify naming her to the Olympic team. 🤷‍♀️

LOL, the new question is whether Pirouline cookies will be in the Kiss and Cry at Nats?

As much as I love Gracie and admire her perserverence, the USFSA can't just throw out it's selection criteria to put her on the Olympic team with one strong performance at Nationals (assuming she could even somehow obtain a qualifying score). I hope she continues to build on her previous event and posts strong scores so she can compete in international events if she decides to continue beyond Beijing.

Gracie making the team is realistically microscopic. she has given USFS *zero* reason to believe she can contend. even if she medals at nationals, there's no way they'd consider her especially when they left Amber off the world team last year who is eons ahead of Gracie.

i do hope she plans to stay after this season though. i think she has more to give.

I agree. Look at Ross Miner ( Before the scandal ) he finished with the Silver in 2018 and still didn't get on the team. For Gracie to make the team, our top 3 would have to have the worst skates of their careers. I know that sounds harsh but, I think Gracie needs to be realistic in her expectations. She's made big strides this year and she is the same age as Jason Brown. If she wants to continue after the Olympics, I'll cheer for her.

Ah the Canadians - Michael now probably has endorsements in Russia. But seriously Mariah has just written herself in as a contender no longer pretender for Beijing. Mariah, Bradie if well, Karen, Lindsay and maybe Amber are fighting for two spots after the Queen Alyssa. Though I think Amber could close that door if she skates poorly at Golden Spin.

There is SO much on the line for Amber at Golden Spin. They said the reason she didn't make the World Team last year after winning the Silver was her lack of international success. It would be huge if she can skate well, win or lose, if she skates to clean programs it will definitely help her cause.
