I am not sure they are having Regionals this year. Ice coverage will know. She’s made it to Nationals the past two years (once out of Regionals/Sectionals and once out of the tapes they had to send in). She didn’t compete in summer comps in 2019 either. Looks like she’s doing at least 3 this year. So I mean anything is possible. But I think she’s likely to make Nationals again.

If there are Regionals it is whatever region Iceworks is in. They had it at Iceworks in 2019. She got the bronze but didn’t have the qualifying score so people decided she wouldn’t make the qualifying score. So she went to Sectionals, placed third and made the qualifying score.
South Atlantic.

This year will use the same qualifying format that was planned for last year (but cancelled and changed to virtual with short notice before the first events). Hopefully this year the live competitions will take place as scheduled.

(y) For singles skaters, eight in-person events in Oct-Nov are planned for this season's Championship Series.
Skaters are allowed to enter a maximum of any two events of their choice (no geographical limitations).
Their top score (SP+FS from the same event) will be used for the series rankings.

For senior singles skaters (without byes to Nats):
Those with top two Championship Series scores per section will advance to 2022 Nats -- plus those with the next best three Championship Series scores nationwide also will advance to Nats.
Meaning a total of nine will advance from Championship Series to Nats.
(With a possibility of more than nine only if fewer than four skaters earn international byes to Nats.)

Also possible that a minimum score will be required to qualify for Nats.

Does Gracie have to compete at Regionals? Which region? Is it possible/likely she won't even be able to get out of Regionals?
As ice coverage posted it’s different this year and sounds a bit harder to qualify, especially if the internationals are cancelled due to Covid.
But generally, yes Gracie could make it out of Regionals, however a long like that probably wouldn’t make it through Sectionals.
It’s a shame really because by all accounts she does very well in practice but can’t seem to put the programs together in competition. I saw it with my own eyes at 2020 Nationals. I watched every practice and felt she could be top 6 after the short judging by her practice sessions. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to show what she’s capable of during competition.
I have always been a huge Gracie fan and still think she could be competitive. She is one of the few US women with clean jumps. However, I believe she needs to get to a new coach and start training those programs and getting them out in front of people every chance she gets. But, if she’s just happy doing what she’s doing now, I can support that too, I just feel she’s capable of so much more. In the end, as long as she’s enjoying herself, she should do whatever she wants.

I watch it and considering what she have been throught in 2017 with that program that it finished the season in a bad way at national 2017.

I must say I enjoy the program and I'm happy that she bring it back.

I certainly thing that Gracie was looking to comeback this program for a therapeutic reason : Maybe she love that program and want to show us that she will be able to skate this program in a much positive way than in 2017.

I wish that Gracie continue to make some other competition to push herself and bring the best version of that program at national.

It would be epic if she is able to make that program better than in 2017.

I wish her the best and it would be cool if she is able to bring back that golden dress from the past.

That golden dress was perfect for that program.

I love the program and hope to see improvement at the end of the season.

Go Gracie !
I don't really think there is anything positive to say about that particular free skate performance. Yes we all know about her struggles and its good to see her. But what she is putting on the ice is just not elite skating anymore. I don't know what her goals are. To use professional sport for therapeutic reason, I am sceptical. If it is to compete at some lower rank national competitions, fine but more? It doesn't look promising

Just saw Audrey Shin skate her new FS to Moonlight Sonata, way better than her SP yesterday but with some URs and shaky landings. Similar cut to Sasha Cohen's and it included a voice-over of a lady speaking(?).
Similar to sasha cohen's? Oh no, is audrey doing her tributes again, for the 3rd or 4th season in a row? Mark my words, her dress will be ombre silver and grey with tiny cutouts around the top, just like sasha's. Oh well. Maybe this is her thing?
...oh, her dress is a nice blue. That's refreshing, I instantly thought of her as doing her own thing this time.

Ting, Hannah, Audrey are all making their way back from being off ice and injured, and while these early club competitions may not mean anything, all three are attempting triple jumps in the back half of their programs. With apologies to moonvine, when Gracie-again-only does single jumps on her back half, I have a difficult time seeing her efforts as a serious attempt to be competitive. Not to mention low levels on the StepSeq, spins etc.

Potentially, we could see Nationals qualifying turn out this way (18 total)

TOP 5 2021- Bradie, Amber, Karen, Alysa, Mariah
JGPF- Isabeau, Lindsay
3 Intls- Starr, Gabriella
2 PAC- Sierra, Sofia F.
2 MID- Paige, Maryn
2 EAST- Audrey, Rena
Next 3- any of Sonja H., Finley H., Gracie, Pooja, Ting, Hanna, Maxine, Joelle Lin, Jessica Lin, Violeta U., Emily Zhang, Courtney

I have to agree with people who are questioning Gracie's Conditioning and Stamina. When Judging Dance this is a common problem at the beginning of the season. Gracie is a National Champion and Olympian, she should know that she HAS to do full runs of her LP. As we neared an event, we would often do double runs just for Stamina. What some people don't seem to realize is that when the heart races due to nerves, you breathe harder and more frequently than you would in a relaxed situation. This makes me question her coaching. Tired or not, my students had to do a double run at every rehearsal the final week before an event.

Let's hope that stamina is her plan for the rest of the season. Still happy about her SP, so the pieces are there and that's a big deal.

I think it could also help if she planned a less ambitious LP until she gets her confidence back. It's silly for her to plan these seven triple LPs when she ever completes only two or three successfully. Maybe if she stuck with trying only three different jumps (i.e. doing a program with 2 x 3Lz, 2 x 3Lo, and a 3T), she could have a better chance to execute that layout before adding the other two triples she does.

I completely agree. They need to plan a program that she can complete successfully even when she's tired. This has to begin at rehearsal. For her to miss her jumps and score that low means this program is too difficult for her to complete at this point in the season. They can always "Beef It Up" as the season progresses.

That's my thought as well; similar like Kostornaia last season, Kostornaia liked and got along with Rozanov but he couldn't give her what was needed to be on level with the top of the field.

The unfortunate part with Gold is that had she gotten the stamina back up and some semblance of control on her nerves with the current crop of US senior ladies she could have been the mix for top 5 at Nationals and for the Olympic team, but we are now seeing US junior ladies getting more technical content that looks like the Russian ladies, so in a year or 2 it might be similar to how Russia is right now - no quad or triple axel means you might not make it very far whereas right now if Gracie did in a competition program like we see her do in practices and warm-ups, she could still challenge the top US senior ladies

Let's hope that stamina is her plan for the rest of the season. Still happy about her SP, so the pieces are there and that's a big deal.

Well, the stamina has been her problem for the last couple of years, even at Nationals its a problem, so hopefully they have a new for this year.

Hanna had 1 fall but far better than her last competition! I really hope for a comeback from her!
Kailani did so well! hope she is planning to go to nelborn trophy to fight for an olympic spot, she is in great form!

Sad to see Hanna and Ting struggling so much right now. They were supposed to be part of the new wave of girls leading up to Beijing but injuries really derailed both of them when you consider that they had a great start finishing top 5 in their Senior debuts at Nationals just two years ago and would probably be in the running for an Olympic spot if they had kept their progression going upward.
