St Louis. Do not recommend. 0/5 stars. Hope Gracie likes her roses.
Wow, that’s a trek! And you drove?! Were you by yourself? On a completely unrelated note, I took my son to St Louis for the Olympic Trials in gymnastics this summer. I had never been, we enjoyed it a lot and the City Museum is amazing!

Yes. I was by myself. Last time I came to Boston to see Gracie skate I was with my late sister - for Worlds in 2016. It’s a lot better with another person.

Wish you had had a better Olympic trials to go to. 4 years ago they were much more fun. The zoo here is also first class and free.

Illia Kulik was another surprise. He did win the Silver at Worlds in 1996 but, he was off the Podium in 1997. Elvis Stojko was the Reining World Champion and heavy favorite to win it all. Just proves that you never know when it comes to the Olympics

Didn't Illia Kulik beat Stojko at the GPF that season though? He was definitely a gold medal contender in Nagano.

Yes he did. However, Elvis was the reining World Champion and the "Buzz" was that Elvis was the favorite going in.

However Robin Cousins was twice silver medallist at Worlds and Bronze so I wouldn't say his Olympic gold came out of nowhere.
Don't get me wrong. Robin Cousins is one of my favorite men skaters.

The discussion concerned OGMs who never won a World title. He's in that category. There was no intended slight to him or his reputation.

I'm going to add Adelina Sotnikova to this list. Yuna was the reining World Champion heading into 2014 and Adelina wasn't even the top European at that time as it was Carolina Kostner . Yuna Kim was the reining champion and heavy favorite going in as Adelina had finished 9th at 2013 World Championships.

I’m nervous for Alysa tomorrow. I hope she leaves out the lutz loop combo. She doesn’t need it. If she can’t be the top American, I will root for Amber over Mariah. Young You looked fantastic earlier this season and should knock out one of the top American Ladies off the podium. Also, rooting for Madeline Schizas! Izzo is also one to watch. I’ve set my alarm clock to watch the entire short program live. 24 competitors. I’m so excited!
