Not in the SP--unless she can put out a solid 3-3 in the short, there is no point sending her to another Olympics...... Karen had a messy competition at Autumn Classic, but she redeemed herself at Finlandia.

Well, like I said, I still have to see Bradie but, Alysa and Lindsay both have solid 3/3's in both programs. Karen used to have the edge on spins but not anymore. Not in the SP--unless she can put out a solid 3-3 in the short, there is no point sending her to another Olympics...
She also landed it in a comp, but it was UR.Lindsay did actually try a 3A at her second JGP. It was downgraded but she stood up on it.
IMO, Lindsay is currently in a stronger "dark horse" position than Audrey. Lindsay's showings have been stronger at her JGPs than Audrey's at Cranberry Cup and Lombardia. Of course we have to see how Audrey does at Skate America, but at the moment, I'd give the edge to Lindsay.Well from what I can see Liu looks strong. Improved artistry and the best technically. I will wait to ee how Bradie comes back from injury. Karen is the most complete skater if and this IF she can rotate and land those jumps. Mariah is complete too but they need to do it when it counts. I honestly don't think there is enough time for Lindsay to be a real challenger and I think Amber has made it hard on the body of work. I was shocked about her recent performance at Finlandia. Still the battle seems to be Liu and then Karen, Mariah, Bradie, and maybe Amber and or Audrey battling it for the other spots. I don't have much faith in Gracie at this point.
If Nationals were tomorrow, I'd say that Lindsay is the clear #2 US Lady. Karen's not looking bad but, if they both skate clean programs, I'd have to go with Lindsay.IMO, Lindsay is currently in a stronger "dark horse" position than Audrey. I know this is the U.S. women's thread, but since it was brought up, what SP did Nathan switch back to Nemesis from?Mariah switches her SP to "River flows in you" and LP back to Hallelujah according to Champs camp insider. Nathan also switches his SP back to Nemesis based on the same source.
What I mean is....Nathan is going to do Nemesis SP (2018 Olympics season) for this 2022 Olympics season again. Could be slightly different music cut. Could be slightly different tech content. I don't know. Nathan is trying to redeem himself by using the same SP music again, I guess. Again, this is just an insider source from a skater at Champs camp. Is Mariah really going to skate "River flows in you SP" and "Hallelujah LP"? We will find out very soon. So far, that skater is correct about Jason Brown's LP. Honestly, Mariah is showing regression on her skating skills (just like Alena) especially jumps and spins. Changing music is not as effective as changing coach. I'm sure Mao Asada can still win competitions with Lady Ga Ga music.I know this is the U.S. women's thread, but since it was brought up, what SP did Nathan switch back to Nemesis from?
Back OT, I am SO glad that Mariah is going back to Hallelujah for her FS! Hopefully, she'll bring back the fire!![]()
Oh I thought Nathan had scrapped another SP for Nemesis - that's how it read to me anyways. I know he's skating to the same music as his 2018 SP, or some variation of it. Gutsy I think! What I mean is....Nathan is going to do Nemesis SP (2018 Olympics season) for this 2022 Olympics season again. Could be slightly different music cut. I think you truly underestimate both Lindsay and the historical trend of who USFS tends to select for Olympics. Ashley Wagner intimated she thought that Bradie took her Olympics spot (not Karen) but USFS has a history of picking the young ingenue as a nod to the future. I believe Lindsay is solidly ahead of Amber and Mariah. If Karen gets a 3-3 in the short and improves her scores I do think they will choose Karen.Well from what I can see Liu looks strong. Good news! I also wish she would bring back the To Love You More SP! It’s a perfect match for hallelujah and she skated that sp with such abandon!I know this is the U.S. women's thread, but since it was brought up, what SP did Nathan switch back to Nemesis from?

I think it would be extremely crummy of USFS to leave Karen behind. There would have been no chance to even earn a 3rd spot without Karen.I think you truly underestimate both Lindsay and the historical trend of who USFS tends to select for Olympics. Interesting that Ashley thought it was Bradie who replaced her rather than Karen. Bradie who scored great all season and won nationals...I think you truly underestimate both Lindsay and the historical trend of who USFS tends to select for Olympics. Did she change main coach from Raf to Adam Rippon 2 years ago? I read interview somewhere that Adam is the one spending time and training with her now, not Raf. Raf is still a head coach/consultant for Mariah though. I don't see Raf in "kiss and cry" after Mariah skating anymore. Perhaps Raf is too busy with Nathan?Isn’t Raf well known for his coaching of jump technique though? Who would she go to?
I disagree. None of the US girls aside from maybe Alysa are remotely podium contenders. If they have good days, they'll make top 10, if they have bad days they won't. The Olympics is not just a competition, but the biggest stage in the world. Potentially thousands of people who don't follow skating will be tuning in and filling the arena. Karen is a beautiful skater beloved by fans and judges, who performs and sells and emotes. She represents nearly the best of the artistic side of skating, which is 50% of the sport. Even with a few URs, she had the FS performance of the night at Worlds. If she stays on her feet at the Olympics, her performance will delight the audience and might be one that people go back and watch over and over again. In comparison to Lindsay, who might jumps clean 3-3s. She might also succumb to the pressure and fall. Before we even see her at JGPF, we have no idea how she handles real pressure. She had a notably weaker FS at her second GP, with the presence of Russian skaters and actual competition. Lindsay has a lot of great qualities and elements, and is a promising skater for the future. But she has very little reputation, speed, power, emotion, interpretation, or confidence. She also doesn't have any wow jumps that will excite the audience unless she starts nailing a 3A, 3-3s are mostly old news. If Lindsay has the cleanest skate of her life, the audience will appreciate her, but idk that most of them will genuinely enjoy her. Karen's best, even without the hardest technical content, is an iconic and Olympic-stage worthy performance. Lindsay's best at this point in her career - she has the potential and many years to improve on this - is a clean protocol sheet. Not in the SP--unless she can put out a solid 3-3 in the short, there is no point sending her to another Olympics...
I like Ashley's skating but no one TOOK her spot - she lost it! She skated as if she was there for a coronation not a competition and when they scored what she skated and not "reputation points" she lost IMHOI think you truly underestimate both Lindsay and the historical trend of who USFS tends to select for Olympics.
