:drama:Wow, Does it talk about any of the Men? Do they mention that Vincent just defeated Nathan and that Nathan will want to regain his edge on the field with a win in Canada. That would be my headline for the Men.

The article only talks about 10 athletes, 10 different sports. Plus, at the end of the day in the US, figure skating for the casual audience is pretty much centered on ladies figure skating.

Happy Birthday to Amber Glenn! 🎂

@Sjs5572, I have friendly questions for you regarding Alysa's pronouns:

I find it helpful that USFS has started including pronouns in skater bios.
I am happy to do my best to remember to use correct pronouns, such as "They/Them" for Timothy LeDuc.

For Alysa's pronouns, the USFS bio says: "She/They."
Sorry if I am dumb, but my honest questions:
Is the idea that in certain situations, the correct pronoun (nominative case) for Alysa would be "She" -- but in other situations, the correct pronoun (nominative case) for Alysa would be "They?"
If I want to use the correct pronoun to refer to Alysa, how would I know when "She" would be correct vs. when "They" would be correct?
This has me very confused also.

I just made my Skate Can predictions and put Alysa in third...but have a hunch she should be second and I may change my predictions. I think that's a very possible placement for her even if Valieva, Tuktamysheva, and Kostornaia all skate pretty well.

I'm not an expert on revenue streams for websites, but I do know it's not a matter of "allowing it to happen" and more of a necessity given the cost of maintaining websites and minor revenue streams from paying members. Sites also tend to have limited control over the impact on the user experience, even if they *really wish* they did. I know not everyone can afford to pay the yearly subscription, so the annoyance there is real.
I don’t mind the ads. I know this site must cost the earth to run. What I mind is when I’m typing a long response and the page refreshes, blowing my response away. If it saved the response that would be nice.

The only year this wasn't true was in 1988 and the Battle Of The Brian's. Boitano was everywhere that entire season and became a star after his big win.

Quite a strong media push ahead of Alysa's senior GP debut... here's another article, this time from Team USA, which highlights Alysa as one of ten athletes to watch at the upcoming Olympics (and shockingly does not feature Nathan???).

Women field has a clear winner but men field doesn't. We don't know who is better for this season yet. Nathan or Vincent? Nathan disappointed placements in recent SA and last Olympics don't help him either. Actually, I think it's good for Nathan. I hope the shift of spotlight can ease his pressure going to Olympics season. Now, I hope Alysa can handle the pressure from media hype.

p.s.: Thank you so much for posting the articles. :)

Ting Cui and Sarah Jung are also competing. Ting had a nice shot to go for this Olympics, but it has unfortunately been rough for her in competitions due to injuries. Sarah has also had a lot of potential, and had done pretty strong at previous competitions. But she has also struggled in comps. I hope both of them can go for making good comebacks!

Obvious odds are not a predictor, but the money hasn’t matched the Liu hype yet. Odds are in Alena’s favor in the short program, and comfortably.

Grand Prix. Skate Canada. Vancouver. Women. Short program. Who is better?
Kostornaia Alena 1.40
Liu Alysa 2.75

If you really believe in Liu, you can make some good money this weekend.

Is this betting the SP winner or just that one of Alena/Alysa will beat the other?

Here is another article about Alysa Liu:

Alysa is really the center of media attention and US figure skating org seems only focus on her now (not even Nathan and Karen). I'm just wondering...may be they have seen her practice (3A, Quad) in California recently and they feel very confidence in her??

On the pronouns question, I don't know if this applies to Alysa, but I have seen others who use she/they say that they prefer if people do use both (or sometimes mostly they/them), rather than defaulting to only she/her. Partly because a lot of people will use only she/her to refer to them, so it's nice/validating/important/etc to also get they/them.

But I don't know if that's how Alysa feels about it. That's just something I've heard from a few people who use the same pronoun combo.

US Series Junior Ladies were today. I am not very familiar with Sarah Everhardt, but she is in 1st with a good 60.68. Ava Ziegler is trailing behind with not the strongest skate, but nice points on her Step Sequence.
Group B is midway through. No score yet that is above 40s.
