I posted in the US National forum, but I am unsure ho national spots are determined. ...

Oyyy, I just replied to you in the new thread that you had started a little earlier.
It is my preference/hope  that we can keep the discussion here in this thread instead of exacerbating the redundancy (IMO) of the separate thread.

Bringing part of my answer from over there to this thread:

The final Series standings will depend on the results of the Spokane event, which will conclude tonight.

I am not going to go into the detail of my pre-Alpharetta post, but the standings *after* Alpharetta results and *before* Spokane final results are (excluding Thorngren and Andrews, who already have byes to Nats):

Top two Eastern: Izzo, Gold
Top two Midwestern: Hawk, Warne-Jacobsen
Top two Pacific: Budko, Inthisone
Next three in nation: Heiner, Harrell, Ikenishi

is 4cc cancelled this season?

The location of 2022 Four Continents was changed to Estonia as of a while back.
The competition is not cancelled -- and it will be a nice opportunity :) for U.S. skaters not going to 2022 Olympics who have the required ISU tech minimums.

ETA:

... AND she did 3 axel two-footed but landed....

Thorngren's triple axel in Warsaw Cup FS also was downgraded, I would add (but she has my respect for attempting the jump).

I wouldnt put Karen above Mariah based on this one comp. Mariah fell in the SP and Karen fell in the FS. The points weren's that far off in the end. I want to see how she does at Rostelecom.

Curious though. Mariah had a decent 3-3 during the season she skated to Britney. I wonder what happened that made her regress. I also am really curious why Adam is now her main coach. I hope Adam can help Mariah get that 3-3 back.

Apparently, there are rumors going around that Alysa (or their team) has fired Jeremy and Massimo and is going to Colorado? Has anyone else heard anything?

Well if true, that's a bold decision to make at this point in the season, but let's be honest: the other senior US ladies haven't exactly been lighting the world on fire, so unless this causes her to completely meltdown its not going to upset her shot at getting to the Olympics

I would be shocked if that were true. Alysa's improved so much in the year she's had with them. Also, it seems like she really wants to stay in the Bay Area (makes sense, she's so young). When she announced she was training with Lee Barkell last year, she explicitly said that they were going to keep it virtual since they wanted to stay in the Bay Area.

Oh gosh I hope not. I don't think a major coaching change is wise for Alysa just before Nationals and the Olympic Games! She's made so much progress, especially on PCS, since her Junior days! I'm looking forward to see her ongoing progression post-Olympics!

But her under-rotation problem is still there; PCS can keep her lifted in the standings to some extent but to medal in the big competitions and even GPs, triple axels and quads are both necessary and money-makers (or point makers) and the triple axels we've seen in competition from her have not been cleanly rotated and/or landed.

I wonder if Raf would be interested in her

I don’t know what’s up with Raf. He certainly doesn’t seem overly invested in Mariah.

Isn't Jeremy her choreographer? I certainly enjoy her programs more this year than ever. :scratch2:

Colorado would be the worst place to go for somebody with under rotation issues. Look at Karen and Audrey. It takes time to learn a new jumping technique. I don’t think it’s unreasonable that Alysa’s jumps aren’t there yet. It hasn’t even been a year with her current coaching team.

I agree. I don't get changing at this point. Her jumps are iffy but she's landing them for the most part, and it's enough to get her to the top of the American field. No coach can get her to Kamila's current level in 3 months so if the change is about being an OGM contender it's hard to see that happening.

I really hope other ladies step up and beat Karen at Nationals i'm bored with her to be honest. She's never really panned out and hasn't pushed herself technically and isn't really any better of a skater then 4 years ago and plus a US lady going to the Olympics in this day and age should be able to do 3-3 combo's.

Yeah I agree. I think Raf is too invested in Nathan..... Plus, not really sure how much he (or anyone) can do between now and the Olys.

ETA: If this is true, fingers crossed we're not talking Tom Z or Tammy.
Where would you send her? Brian Orser? Maybe all the way over to Eteri? I always liked Joshua's Coaches Christy Krall and Damon Allen.

Yes -- it remains possible that whatever score Hanna gets in Spokane could snag second place for Eastern section in final Series standings.

But even if(?) that happens, Gracie probably still will qualify for Nats as one of next-three-in-nation, as you said.

Starr's mother posted today in Starr's fan thread.
I'm not on her fan thread
And to add to my thoughts..top 10 would be a reasonable result that combined with good summer scores could lead to some Challenger assignments and maybe even a Skate America host pick.

There’s a totally unscientific poll on Twitter “who do you WANT to see named to the Olympic team.”

Did Mariah turn into ectoplasm? She is also a possibility. I don't do twitter or
I'd speak up.

Agreed. Every single one of Tammy's skaters has underrotation issues and Vincent is the only one of Tom's skaters that's actually doing well this year. I guess Damon Allen and Christy Krall still coach there, but Damon's skaters haven't exactly been lighting the world on fire either (Camden and Tomoki). Honestly if I were an elite skater, Colorado is the last place I would go for coaching.
