True, this is really Mariah's first complete outing with her new programs, but
1) that's really based on Mariah's choices that she's in late November doing her first complete competition of the season with her programs
2) Was this outside the norm of what we get from Mariah?
I think it’s a combination of different things. She was assigned to Asian Open as a Challenger event until the American skaters could no longer go due to travel issues. I don’t think she’s high enough in the world rankings to be able to pick her GPs, so it’s probably more luck of the draw that she got the two last ones. She’s entered in Golden Spin in December, so that’s another Challenger opportunity. Perhaps it was good for her to have more time to train since she changed both her programs early in the season. Two Grand Prix, Cranberry and Golden Spin, SP at the qualifying comp - seems like a fairly normal number of fall competitions to me.
