Starr, Audrey, and Hannah don't have any body of work this season. Even they somehow manage to be on podium at Nats, they won't be selected for Olympics team. Paige, Gracie, Starr, Audrey, and Hannah won't be considered for Olympics team at this point.

Alysa is lock while others ( Karen, Mariah, Amber, Lindsay) are fighting for the last 2 spots.
While I agree with your short list, I'm just curious to know what could happen in some extremely unlikely scenarios (i.e. Alysa/Hannah/Audrey podium with Isabeau and Gracie rounding out the top 5).

I think they will mostly go with top three

in a situation like the above. I think part of that will be how the podium ended up that way. A close call with one of the younger skaters beating an experienced skater little things (say a zayak even) wrong... well if the results don't make naked eyes sense, they may send the veteran.

On the flip side, if one of the lesser names has a Riverdance moment...they will be sent.

Alot also depends on what Alyssa's state is, and if she is skating both events in the team.

If Alyssa is either deemed less reliable, or just not doing both events, they will be more likely to bump a vet up for the team events.

But really, i think it will be top three. And with a little luck some will be noticed at Nationals and have some momentum for the Olympics.

Technically yes, but per some comments on the thread related to her WD from Nationals - from the sounds of her post and the fact she's not even making any kind of attempt at Nationals like the foot is still a problem that its not just her being out of competition conditioning. 4ccs is sooner than the Olympics so that's highly unlikely and while Worlds is 3 months out that does give her some time but not a lot especially if she's still injured and why would the Fed gift her a spot in lieu of people that have actually competed this year, I know the US ladies haven't exactly been setting the world on fire but I don't think it would be fair to anyone if Bradie were to be named to Worlds team without competing this year.
The last petition attempt I’m aware of was Jason Brown in 2016 to Worlds and it was unsuccessful. Jason was in the top 10 in the world standings at the time.

Gracie would be left off the team due to not having tech minimums and the American viewing public, which is in general not aware that tech minimums exist, would be extremely confused and probably not super happy.

According to the most recent article on the American women, Isabeau missed seven weeks of training leading up to the Junior Grand Prix Final (which she withdrew from but was then subsequently canceled). According to the article, “[Isabeau] withdrew from that event before it was canceled, unable to prepare after missing seven weeks of training due to a stress reaction in her right tibia.”

Out of curiosity is anyone aware of the last time that an athlete petitioned to be on a Worlds/Olympic team and it actually worked out for the best? Yes Plushenko in the team event did pretty good in 2014 but then he tweaked his surgically held together back in the individual warmup and left the home team without a horse in the race for the men's event - so I don't think that ended up going well for Russia

Nope. It won't be top 3 in your scenario. USFS has its own selection criteria. Even Alysa is in fifth place, she is 100% going to Olympics based on the USFSA selection criteria document. Assume Audrey/Starr/Hannah are on podium, it can only bump them up to "group 3" together with Mariah and Karen. USFSA will definitely choose Mariah and Karen over Audrey/Starr/Hannah. No doubt about that. NBC and other sponsors also play significant role in selection. Podium finish only impact current Group 3 and Group 4 contenders. If Amber and Lindsay are on podium, they "may" go to Beijing. Others have less than 5% chance at this point.

Women
Group 2 - Alysa Liu (205.74 Cranberry; 219.24 CS Lombardia; 207.40 CS Nebelhorn; 206.53 SCI; 202.90 NHK). Top 5 finish at Nats --> Beijing
Sponsor: Toyota

Group 3 -
  • Mariah Bell (179.42 Cranberry; 190.79 IdF; 210.35 Rostelecom) Adam has good relationship with NBC. Mariah is in advantage.
  • Karen Chen (208.63 Worlds 2021; 173.00 CS ACI; 202.49 CS Finlandia; 183.41 SCI; 194.00 IdF)
Group 4 -
  • Amber Glenn (183.46 CS Finlandia; 201.02 SkAm; 175.83 NHK; 183.36 CS Golden Spin) Sponsor: Delta
  • Bradie Tennell* (197.81 Worlds 2021)
  • Lindsay Thorngren (181.45 JGP Courchevel 1; 193.77 JGP Ljubljana; 184.40 CS Warsaw; JGPF)

Nancy Kerrigan did well in 1994 but didn’t win gold as she had hoped. After that, I can’t think of anyone. Michelle petitioned on in 2006 but had to withdraw because of injury.

Do you mean when Nancy won Olympic silver? That was in 1994. She won Olympic bronze in 1992, but she didn't have to petition to go. That happened only after "the whack" in 1994.

What USFS will do if Gracie Gold manage to finish 2nd place or higher at national ? I was wondering this because I dream that Gracie pull out the performance of her life and manage to make the top 2 at national. What USFS will do if this happen ?
Well, since Starr Andrews won this imaginary National championship, I think the USFS would send Gracie to the Olympics as well? :)

She skated to the same music when she won Bronze in 2015
