The block championships determine qualification for Eastern and Western Sectionals, which then determine who gets to go to Senior and Junior Nationals. Obviously, Rika, Shoma, and Yuzu aren't listed as entries, since the top three skaters at Nationals usually are seeded and don't need to participate in the block championships. Satoko, Kaori, and Yuma are likely participating for the competition practice. I could see Yuma WD from Kanto if he gets invited to the Japan Open. A lot of the women and junior women's competitions have more than 24 skaters, so the top 24 skaters will probably be the ones advancing on to the free skate and the others will be cut.

Since when Satoko is relocated in the east? Given her skating club, she was a western competitor, so she should be at Kinki regionals (as most of Kyoto/konoshita's skaters). Did she officially leave Konoshita academy?
Actually, according to the entry list, Satoko's belonging is listed as Kinoshita 'Group'. I think her case is similar to Koshiro Shimada's: as a supported member by Kinoshita 'Group', Shimada is always listed under Tokyo region for regional competition. So this makes sense.

To recall earlier the GenSan summer trophy, Satoko was in the competition with Takeshi Honda as a temporary coach. She was not able to return to Canada to train, due to the pandemic and visa issue to enter Canada. So I suspect that she's been training in Tokyo area all the summer time instead of in the Kansai area. Originally she was assigned to AC and I thought that could give her the chance to re-join her coach in Canada, but the WD news later on was actually a surprise....

So a clarification is that Kinoshita 'Group' is different from Kinoshita 'Academy'...perhaps both are affiliated with Kinoshita. But Kinoshita Academy is managed by Mie Hamada, and Satoko is never listed as a member of Kinoshita Academy. (But I'm not sure if Satoko has graduated from Kansai U? Maybe she's graduated already so she used Kinoshita group as her belonging now).

Thread updating: I'm changing the title of this discussion by adding a 'general discussion', as I will open up one discussion thread for each regional competition later on.

She has. I recall having seen photos from her graduation.

Since all the regionals will be held without audience, there will be a LIVE broadcasting of each competition

Link here: https://fod.fujitv.co.jp/s/genre/li...22.1559297628.1632299061-484691620.1632299061

(Note: not sure if the broadcasting will be available overseas, though!)
JSF's announcement: https://www.skatingjapan.or.jp/whatsnew/detail.php?id=103

All the regional competitions will be held without audience.
(Not sure about the broadcasting arrangement yet...)

It's Fuji on Demand, so it's only available in Japan or with a Japan VPN for a fee of around 964 yen per month. I think there's a free trial you can sign up for, but again you'll need a Japan VPN
