Sasha Fear and George Waddell (British Jr. ice dancers) have split, according to her Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CcyrxkWrG2j/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
Sasha writes that she is "looking ahead for new adventures in ice dance" so it sounds like she hopes to find a new partner.

Olivia Oliver and Joshua Andari (Polish Jr. ice dancers) have also split.
Olivia's post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CcvPgFTrxaQ/
Polish Federation's post: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ccvp2YqoPN5/
Olivia hopes to move to seniors with a new partner, Joshua wants to focus on his education.

Best of luck to all these skaters in the future, on and off the ice!

They took part in EC and WC last season on senior level. I was dreaming of Worlds in which both Fear sisters and both Waddell brothers would take part. And now when Bruce is junior world silver medalist it could happen. Still can - if George decides to continue - but it won't be the same when Sasha and George are not together :(

it will take a lot of action on this thread (retirements and splits) for your Fear Waddel siblings worlds to happen. I ADORE Bruce and Natalie but there are a lot of steps to climb to reach the world team in Canada... Right now, I would place them at about 8 or 9th place in seniors ...
Piper and Paul, FBS, Lala, then in no particular order, Lauriault, Le Gac, Soucisse Firus, Fabbri Ayer, SalesWamsteeker, and perhaps even some others.. for instance, how will Bronsard and potential new partner will manage (rumours have mentioned Jacob Richmond)

So sorry to hear about both of these splits. Especially after praising Olivia and Joshua so much after Junior Worlds. (Hope that didn't jinx them! )

I have to admit, I got a surprise there now. I always thought Joshua was English, and that they trained in England. But, he's actually Canadian, and they trained in Canada. I never knew there was another Chatham.

All the best to Joshua with his studies, and to Olivia with her continuing skating career.

But Sasha and George splitting is a real bolt out of the blue. I thought they were going to be in it for the long haul, and really challenge Lilah and Lewis in the years to come.

Something I wrote a five years ago has suddenly come back into my mind. The three Fear sisters all tended to make major changes in their sporting careers at the same time. To save me writing it out again, see the following post:

I really hope that they have grown out of this trend. Because Lilah and Lewis splitting as well would be a total disaster for British Ice Dance.

So, Sasha has said that she plans to continue. Is there any word on what George's plans are?

Whatever happens, all the best to both of them!

I think after the Olympics he said he would try to find a new partner. Not sure if there's anyone available in Italy or if he'll have to find a partner from another country. If an Italian singles skater wanted to switch to pairs, Matteo would probably be a good person to help them, as he's so experienced.

Lubov Iliushechkina?

Joining in the speculation -- my dream would be to see Matteo partner up with Caitlin Yankowskas. I think skating with Caitlin would show us an even more classical, lyrical side of Matteo. Even if only for a year or two :)

^^ addendum: Although, someone somewhere suggested that Valentina Marchei might be interested in competing again? I'd love to see her skating pairs again, and hello ... she's Italian :) She skates with so much joy and love of performing. I read a few years ago that she said switching to pairs was the best decision she ever made.

Matteo tried out with Caitlin before he teamed up with Nicole in 2010. According to Wikipedia, it didn't work out because they couldn't decide which country to represent :( I think they'd make a nice team though, and maybe now they could resolve the country difference?

I'd love to see it. When Caitlin was interviewed by Jenny Kirk and Dave Lease, though, she said they only practiced together and didn't consider a partnership. Still, Wiki could be right (which I read awhile back and quoted it myself, somewhere or other, don't ask me where) -- it could be that they didn't even consider it because they couldn't agree on which country they'd represent.
