I hope the three girls have a normal practice day, and rest well. We all know that at this level it is basically a mental game, and the girls face tremendous challenges in this difficult time. I hope the coaches do a good job, as they always do.

In terms of Worlds, the post Olympic one is always a bit messy. Depending on the Kamila situation and I doubt that Anna especially if she gets an Olympic medal will go I think we could probably see Elizaveta and Maiia actually alongside Trusova at worlds

It wouldn't surprise me to see both Shcherbakova and Trusova at worlds especially if they have fans there since Stockholm was the bubble.

Officially these Olympic Games are out for me...
It's rumored on Twitter that Anna suffered an ankle injury, she was seen crying at practices yesterday and today😭 There are even pictures of Sasha in tears too...
Angry at RusFed for making them come here two weeks early even knowing they weren't going to compete in the team event, with the crazy training schedules (who can perform at a 6am workout after getting up at 3am), With practices so tight...
They could have arrived later as Stepanova/Bukin, but now they are physically and mentally exhausted with all the scandal that we all already know... I don't care who wins these games anymore, I just want to see the girls happy and healthy. Everything is so devastating...
It may not have been in their plan to make Kamila skate both programs in the TE. I had read that Anna was going to skate the LP. They changed their minds at the last minute and decided that Kamila would skate the LP also. Nobody knows why. May be they got nervous and wanted to be sure of the gold. Either Anna or Sasha could have won it for them. I agree though that bringing them to Beijing so early may not have been a good thing for these young ladies. Yuzuru had said that it gets tiring (paraphrasing) if he goes to a competition too early.

As a fan, I want to say thank you to all the Russian ladies for giving me such joy as a viewer the last 2 seasons.

For bringing the sport into the 21st century, and for all the highs and lows.

Thank you ladies. May the next 4 be even better.

And I don’t need to repeat all the superlatives and praise I’ve heaped on Anna the last 2 seasons. Everything I love in an athlete, respect her more than words can possibly convey, and I was always team never count Anna out. NEVER EVER.

Thank you for believing. I dreamed. I was afraid to believe. It hurts to look at Kamila's and Sasha's tears, but I am sure Sasha will smile soon. She did what she wanted to. But the happiness for Anna is unbelievable and invincible.

So this is it for me and figure skating. Anna is everything I hate in a skater. Chested jumps, incorrect edges and the endless sad face skating.

I literally cannot bear the thought of it all anymore.

Love to Kamila, Sasha, Alyona and Sofia Samodelkina - I’ll always hope they do well, but I’ll never watch this sport again.

Wow! As someone who has criticized Anna in the past good job to her . Damn! Proving me and others wrong. Congrats Olympic Champ. Devasted for Kamila. I feel so bad for her. I also understand Trusova’s outburst. I wish the best to these girl cause those coaches are something else. Anyway! Can anyone translate what Evgenia and Alina said to Kamila on their stories ?

I like that Shcherbakova girl. She's pretty good. :coffee:

I don't know if you just wanted a native speaker to translate, but just in case you didn't know, you should be able to auto translate stories if you press the translation button right under their usernames in the top left hand corner. I didn't notice when that button first showed up either.

But basically Alina is saying that she can't express how much Kamila has been through this Olympics and that she is so strong for it. Evgenia congratulates Kamila on finishing her Olympics, says she's glad that hell is finally over for Kamila now and she can finally go home and rest, that she loves her, and she hopes she can live peacefully after everything.

Before taking a long break from Figure Skating after what I have had to witness over the past week, I just want to leave this here:

Today was the coronation of an absolute disaster.

Kamila experienced the worst moment of her life in front of millions and what was destined to be a Gold turned into nothing. It was the first time in my life I have cried a tear over sports. To me she is the best female skater we have ever seen in the making. Seeing this 15yo crumble to pieces was borderline unwatchable. I pray she will receive psychological treatment back in Moscow. This will leave her traumatized for the rest of her life, long after she has left Figure Skating. I don't care if or by who she was doped or if or by who she was falsely set up, either way this was done to her by adults who must be punished for the damage they have caused.

Sasha had one of her best FS showings and one would have thought she would be very happy with her Olympic experience with this and a deserved Silver Medal. Therefore it was shocking to me that she ended up completely unhappy in a nervous breakdown on camera, convinced the Olympic Silver is a failure. To me this is not easily brushed off with "oh it's normal, she wanted to win, she's a competitor, of course she is disappointed."
This kind of reaction to the Olympic Silver makes me imagine what kind of environment this girl lives in at the rink and at home. It was just overall disturbing. The psychological state these girls seem to exist in makes me question many a thing.

Anna - CONGRATULATIONS. She deserves this. On a human level and also in terms of cold numbers. She is the rightful champion today. What a triumph going from "Why should you even be sent to the Olympics after this performance at Nationals?" to this. Well, it is very much in character for her. I think this is the beautiful end of her skating career, on the highest note possible.
However, it angers and pains me to see 2018 Alina repeat itself. Coaches busy consoling the others and her unable and unwilling to celebrate, sitting alone, clutching a plushy, staring into empty space.
She deserved better. But I know she will be celebrated deservingly back home and with her intelligence and grace she will capitalize on this Gold Medal to the fullest. She will make the best of this messy, disturbing situation.

Trusova spent the entire FS with her eyes glued to the ice. Her attention was focused 100% on jumps and 0% on performance. She seemed really pleased with herself throughout the program, and was beaming at the end. No wonder she was outraged----in her own mind, she was sure she had won.

Someone (not ET and company) needs to explain to Sasha that "Skating Skills" includes a lot more than jumps, and hers are lacking. Her spins aren't great, there is too much setting up time for each of her jumps, and she does little more than just stroke in between jumps. And her PCS scores, although horridly inflated, are lower than Anna's and many of the other skaters because 0 attention is paid to the music, the choreography, and even to the audience and yes, the judges.

She might be better off with new coaching, but who would want to take her with her entitled attitude?
