yes.. i noticed that too yesterday and thought, since the results were so close that it was a bit mean to have such low PCS but at the same time, I haven't seen the skate.... and at Challenge, I thought this is one area that would keep developing with time... I mean, this team is relatively just new out of the box... I think they will have to find a style of their own though... I would be curious to know if these programs were conceived with Walsh in the picture and, with the time constraints, they were simply "imposed" on the new team.

Two competitions prior (one of them on home soil) is not a huge sample size.

Time for another Congrats. Your ID teams are amazing! First in both GP Finals, Sr and Jr. I watched and it was so deserved! Sad for one team who made a mistake, but they still were there (which says a lot about the quality in general of the Canadian ID teams).

Carol and Juris must have been thrilled. Their teams have often been getting the short end of the stick. But not today ! No matter how some judges didn't give them the nod, they prevailed.
I think that Carol and Juris have created two of the best Free Dances of this year. Watching Piper and Paul is like being at the theatre. They live every beat of the music and communicate so well. The elements are combined seamlessly in the most brilliant choreo !
The Red violin soundtrack is used perfectly to showcase Nadiia and Peter's smooth but powerful skating !
I am thrilled.
The only sad part, and that was a huge one for me, was the botched lift by Nik and Lolo. I was really looking forward to seeing how close to the podium they would get, or perhaps even on it... Their free dance, is one of the best ones MF has created this year with the Pink Panther one... (I like Lala's as well and H-B's but not many of the other ones).
Anyways, a special day, a special GP season for Canada.

I think it's also promising that we have two elite ice dance centres in Canada. As much as I absolutely love what comes out of Montreal most of the time, it's really good to have that other option, too. I think the Lane/Razgulajevs school has been underestimated for some time.

There are 3... with IAM London building up !
I wish the West Coast produced a few more ice dancers; Wing and Lowe had a promising school but it sort of stalled???
Haven't heard anything about the Wing/Lowe school in a long time....I was still counting both the IAM campuses as one school, lol.

Pairs and dance can now be any two people, no gender specifics. Of course this applies to domestic events only for now, but a very progressive move.

I think it’s very open to question how likely this would be in practice given that elements like lifts are so heavily premised on significant weight differential, but anyone who wants to try should have the right to.

For the news about two people pairing together no matter the gender for domestic events … I don’t see how this will work…i do think it might work better in dance than pairs though, but as long as it’s still not allowed internationally…it likely won’t go anywhere…

Per her Twitter, Gabby has suffered a stress reaction of a previous back fracture and was completely unable to skate for 5 weeks and only returned to the ice a few days ago.The entries are out for Canadian Nationals

I'd probably not send Gabby to 4CC and let her rest... but if there are two women needed for WTT, I would send her there.That is too bad. Gabby and her injuries
In years before this year, it was only Maddy and Alison who hit the scores required for Skate Canada to send them to international events, so, Gabby could go to 4CC without even competing at Nationals. However, this year, we have Maddy, Kaiya, Justine and even Sara-Maude who can be sent, instead of her.
Sad that Daleman, Schumaker and Fabri/Ayer won't be there, but I'm still ridiculously excited for nationals next week. Ice dance and pairs are going to be barnburners (which I would not have expected at the beginning of the season, especially in pairs). I feel like men's is a complete toss-up. And I'm really hoping to see some talent coming up under Madeline, who I have a feeling is going to be fierce here.
I’m excited too! CAN Nationals is my favourite because I’ve watched all the Sectionals and the Challenger event.
Men - Keegan (last year before retirement) plus Romsky (rooting for him the most) should get the two spots. I have a strange feeling Stephen Gogolev is going to surprise though. I want Stephen to do well, because with Keegan gone next year, it will be him and Romsky leading the way for Canadian Men. Also, FYI, the standard Canada has set for athletes being sent to International competitions is a score of 220. Neumann was close at the challenger event with a score of 217. He beat Chiu at this event. With Conrad and Corey not skating well this season, if Neumann finishes in the top 5 with a score over 220, he has a good chance to be on the Canadian Team, for next year.
Ladies - Maddie is our only lady with minimums for Worlds. She skated 180+ at her two GP events and 180+ at Golden Spin. She is the fave. Kaiya (170+) and Justine (165+) were also excellent at the Challenger event in Austria. But, they finished in 6th and 4th at the Challenger event, after placing 1st and 2nd, after the SP. Hoping Kaiya will pull a Kaori and regroup at Nationals. She is my fave. The three women who won medals at the Challenger event, all skated the best skates of their lives so far. So, it will be interesting to see which one was a fluke performance. Fiona Bombardier has the genes. Canada requires the ladies to score over 165, to be sent to International events. The top three at Challenger, all scored over this mark. If any of these three, score over that mark again at Nationals, ahead of either Kaiya or Justine, I can see Canada sending them to 4CC. I think Sara Maude is the only with a qualifying score though, so the other two, will have to be sent to an event prior. Not sure what events are left prior to 4CC.
Pairs - This is the event I’m most looking forward to. I’m going to be paying attention to 5th and 6th place. I’m hoping Nadeau scores over 160, to be sent internationally. That is the score required.
