Is Nik Sorenson retiring. I believe he is 33-34 years old. The oldest ice dancer competing for Canada. 3 years older than Paul Poirer and I heard he had serious knee issues?
I confirm what @Seven Sisters has mentioned : Nik and Lolo have mentioned they are planning to skate at home worlds in Montreal. So, two more seasons of their magnificent presence <3

I was both expecting and dreading this news. I was hoping to see them again as I always enjoyed their sense of fun. Their last performance was one for the ages. The most stirring, haunting performance that just reached to the rafters for your heartstrings. I'm sure that they want to be closer to family and moving on is a path forward. I sincerely wish them the best and a peaceful future for them and their country. Thanks for sharing your talents and that awesome ponytail! Slava Ukraine!

Now I need a new picture...

Paulina Ramanauskaite (Lithuanian ice dancer) is listed as competing at the Britannia Cup with Daniel KORABELNIK.

EDIT: @Jumping_Bean found that this listing is an error, and Paulina is still competiting with Deividas Kizala!

She previously skated with Deividas Kizala. There's nothing on either of their Instagrams confirming/suggesting a split, and it appears they were getting choreo for the new season a couple of months ago. So I'm not sure if the entry is an error, or if indeed a new partnership has been formed? I thought I'd post it here in case anyone has any more information!

Anything GOEs has already confirmed that it's an error and she's still competing with Deividas Kizala.

It's reported by his former coach that Grigory Smirnov has ended his competitive career and is now coaching in Moscow. Smirnov was skating with Avonley Nguyen last season

Oh, I hope Avonley can find a new partner soon!
(I was thinking Bruce W or Billy WF but I doubt either would change to USA.)

I'm at a loss now if I should put Russia or the US next to Smirnov's name because IIRC, he and Avonley skated for the US.
Filatov's name rings a distant bell, but I can't recall what he was. An ice dancer for Russia?

Too right! It is unbelievable that one of the brightest young stars of Ice Dance is without a partner again. 😲

Hey, we have enough problems holding onto our Ice Dancers as it is, without you offering to give away any more of them! :drama:

I think the convention is to put down the country that the skater most recently represented. In Grigory's case, he and Avonley were indeed representing America last season. (It may only have been one competition, but it still counts! ;) )

For Andrey Filatov, the last I heard of him was when he was skating in Junior Ice Dance with Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva for Russia. But, that was pre-pandemic. I don't know if he had changed partners or countries since then.

It was so hard to keep up with things like this during the pandemic.

Andrey Filatov had paired up with Elise Montaner briefly with the intention to skate for France but it seems like they could never get the release paperwork properly figured out.

Have to wonder if her performance at her JGP was effected by her starting to do pairs. Cause there was a big difference between her skates at Cranberry and her JGP.

we don't really know the timing of things... maybe she was already trying out pairs when she went to cranberry... I would think that traveling to Europe and having jet lag etc.. can be a factor compared to staying in North America to compete.

Anna Yanovskaya and Adam Lukacs (Hungarian ice dance team) have split. He has retired while she hopes to continue. Sadly, their reason for splitting is cited as Adam feeling less motivated after they failed to qualify for the 2022 Olympics; they were 1st alternates after placing 6th at 2021 Nebelhorn. Although Anna hopes to continue, she's currently coaching with her ex-skating partner Sergey Mozgov while she looks for a partner.
