Suomen Olympiakomitean hallitus kokoontui 24.1. ja vahvisti Huippu-urheiluyksikön tekemät lopulliset olympiavalinnat Pekingiin. Kaikkiaan Suomen joukkueeseen valittiin 95 urheilijaa.

I have a question; Wesley Chiu is presumably the first alternate for the Canadian men at the Olympics, but since a member of his coaching team had tested positive for COVID just before 4CC (and Wesley had to withdraw from the event), does that mean he won't be allowed to enter Beijing in a hypothetical scenario where either Keegan Messing or Roman Sadovsky are injured/have COVID?

the real question though is will Skate Canada bother flying in any of the alternates?

That's a good point... SC hasn't bothered with alternates recently (like with 4CC).

Still mad about that. There was more than enough time to get an alt to Estonia to replace Wesley.

not so sure. it was that easy...... really, considering it took forever for some to fly to frankfurt then to estonia... deanna stellato mentioned 30 hours of travel... joseph mentioned that he arrived only on thursday and was returning right after the gala... so pretty much the shortest time he's ever spent at an international competition... i am guessing that it may be harder than we think to fly right now, especially the restrictions (getting tested before boarding etc) however, if i am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for this one... Skate Canada does not traditionally always replace skaters with alternates... it has even happened at Skate Canada...

I just saw that. I was really looking forward to the White Crow.It has been reported today that Semenenko is replacing Kolyada who is currently positive to Covid.
