For seniors I think it is the top 2 at Sectionals and then the top 4 NQS scores.
😳 Still trying to figure out what that will mean overall for some of my faves. Waiting for the fps. It's difficult to keep up with all the skating going on at the moment. It's fun, but exhausting. I have some thoughts on the pairs, which I will share later in U.S. pairs thread.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts:) The top 7 pairs went through is what I was told. So at least that's easy.

Yeah, but it really wasn't so easy. The cut is very tough. It was sad seeing the looks on some of the skaters faces when they realized they would not make it to Nationals. I think Martins/ Bedard already had a bye to Nats, but still competed. I mentioned some of my thoughts on the scoring in the U.S. pairs thread.

Hanns/ Neudecker WD after the sp (they were in the bottom three in the sp). Grace didn't look well. Danny seemed frustrated. Sad for them altogether, as they competed at 2023 U.S. Nats. Still, altho' they seemed to have improved this season, Grace was either ill recently, or having trouble with the pressure. They look good together, but Grace is not a strong jumper (I could say that about a number of pairs ladies, sadly. And some of the men too need better consistency). Still overall, as a team, H/N were not able to achieve their best. I wonder if they will split as on-ice partners? They are in a relationship off-ice.

Three teams needed to be cut out of ten. With H/N out, and M/B having a bye, it looks like every team made it except for the bottom two: Ouellette/ Newby-Estrella, and McFarland/ Gillette. The latter team are new, and clearly have a way to go mastering pairs elements and adjusting to each other. O/N-E are a competent, entertaining team, who competed at Nats last season. They don't have all the advanced elements, but it's sad they were cut.

OTOH I am happy it appears that the new team of Wessenberg/ Caputo will make it to Nats. I was impressed by their look together on the ice. They are graceful, and they appear to connect well. Caputo has more experience, I believe, so he is a good partner for Megan. Caputo skated for Italy, and I believe he was briefly partnered with Laiken Lockley. I wonder if Laiken has moved on? Caputo must have reached out to Stefania Berton (the Italian connection), and when the pairing ended with Laiken, Megan came from Irvine for a tryout. If Megan can fix her sbs jumps, she and Eduardo have potential. I enjoyed them, and I also really like Digerness/ Sadusky, among these lower placed teams.

I wonder if Caputo has been released yet -- maybe so by now.

Apparently, H/N were in the free skate warmup, but pulled out thereafter. Observers mention Grace looking like she was having a panic attack. That's too bad. Hopefully, they can maintain their off-ice partnership, get help for Grace in dealing with whatever is wrong, and therapy for both emotionally. If Danny still wishes to skate, might he be able to pair with someone else? He's 27. What about Winter Deardorff, if she's still interested?

A couple of accounts on YouTube have uploaded sp and fp for the U.S. pairs final. Looking again at the top two, their twists are both good. M/P's is a bit higher. Both teams are competent and interesting. Perhaps the difference in scoring is on content? E/M are not performing triples at the moment, aside from throws. Alisa fell on one throw. I think the angle they went into that throw may have contributed to Alisa's fall. Meanwhile, M/P had a slight dismount issue, perhaps due to Katie's skate blade catching on Parkman's top. After that, Katie had a hand down on a sbs jump sequence. Plus, Katie fell on a throw too. I guess at this stage, the judges find M/P to have more power (and Parkman should get his release this December). Still, both E/M and M/P have huge potential.

ETA:
I was disappointed that M/P did not perform the leg split entry into their death spiral. I loved that feature of their sp at Glacier Falls.

USFS issued a document called ADVANCEMENT TO THE U.S. FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS to those who qualified for the sectionals, with a table of who have gotten byes and how many slots for sectional qualification. Though the tables they provided are only for seniors. I think I posted in a different thread the one for pairs.

Thank you. The problem is that U.S. fed does not make information easily accessible. Their website navigation is very much like a maze. 😵‍💫

I don't think they published this document publicly anywhere; they only emailed it to the skaters who qualified for sectionals.

Yeah, my comment is the same. No accessibility for fans. Plus, lack of competent, professional leadership. Blind leading the blind. U.S. fed and ISU, both backwards, Mom/Pop level organizations. 🤦‍♀️

Does that mean he gets a bye again to 2025 Nats? Plus, he'll likely get assigned to compete on JGP again, in 2024-25.
Not sure. I'd reckon he'd get invited to the camp for the World's selection. Depending on his performance in YOG as well (though I think he'd do really well). It will also probably depend on how he performs at the Junior Cup in Milwaukee.
