This would make practice very dreary for me and become a self-fulfilling prophecy leading to dimished returns as I got less and less motivated to skate.

Yeah, IMO music should not be slower than you want to be moving doing any physical activity... people don't work out to ballads for a reason

I can also spot 90% of Michael Jacksons, 80% of Madonnas, 98% Avatars, 70% Roxannes, 75% Lalaland, 80% Greatest Showman, 100% Pirates of the Carribean, 100% Prince, 99% Firebirds, 97% Swan Lake and 82% Flying Dagger.

I will say, I think a lot of pairs (and some skaters in other discplines) seem to pick very lyric-heavy ballads when the words are meaningful to them. Which, listen, I love the idea of skating to music you connect with but also on big, echoing arena loudspeakers when it's lots of words and very little instrumentation/percussion, it really doesn't work the way it does on headphones because most of us can't understand the words anyway even if it's in a language we are fluent in and all the poetry in the world kinda blends together after many, many similar programs.

What a treat to see Caidence & Raine's beautiful blue (and sparkly!) dress and beautiful blue shirt. I do so get tired of black.

I normally don't comment on music that I don't like, although I'll comment plenty on music I do like! I really try to focus on what the skaters are bringing through their music, how they're expressing it and living it. I understand why figure skaters choose war horses, and most war horses I'm either a fan of, or I don't mind. I want to see what each (in this case) pair does with it.

But oh my goodness, that first half of the FS comp was so-o-o-oh dreary!
