You what?!

When the second partnership were waiting for their scores, a song started playing over the tannoy with the first line "Everybody's talking about sex".

Erm, these are young children that are on the ice. This song is totally not appropriate!

Might be a language barrier thing...or at least one hopes!

One of the Russian juniors is skating to a song that drops the s-bomb and I swear last year someone actually skated to a song with the F-bomb in it! I was both 👀 😅

Just going back to this during the resurfacing. (I didn't go outside again because, despite wearing a heavy coat with the hood up, my ears still haven't warmed up from being outside an hour ago! :drama: )

I looked up the opening line of the song I heard to find out what it was, and the F-bomb is actually in the title (and in every line of the chorus)! Not only that, the S-bomb appears in the final two lines of each verse.

Apart from the bad language, it isn't my type of music anyway.

But guess what - the singer is Australian! Toni Watson, performing under the stage name of Tones And I, is from Mount Martha, Victoria.

So, you can breathe a sigh of relief. She's not letting you NSW folk down, because she's not your's. ;)

Boys but this has to be the most slowed down version of "Danse Macabre" that I have ever heard. :drama:

Mimi and Joe - I enjoyed your Rocker Foxtrot earlier. But this Starlight Waltz was hard to sit through.

My goodness, that is a seriously low and wide neckline on Mimi's dress! There is hardly any actual dress material over her chest. It's nearly all illusion mesh!

I really think Germans are not that sensitive with certain texts (Benelux even less.) You can also find such words in very popular German songs played on the radio and accordingly at rinks and such as well. But if it's English people will care even less.
I would not let my child or pupil skate to certain songs if they are really young because they would have to interprete it for an audience, but for songs played in between I think it's totally fine.

Ah, Antonina BORYSEWICZ / Jakub JANICKI (POL) were told to wait for a moment before they skated.

I liked the way in which they went back to the boards. Performing even when they don't need to!

And the Intermediate Novice kids were both there. That wee girl (I didn't catch her first name when she were on) is really attached to them. I think I saw her reach over the boards to give Antonina a peck on the cheek.

Then they were called and did their programme.

Unfortunately, they went into 8th position. So, going into the final group, only fellow Polish partnership Laura BALCERSKA / Borys MAKOWSKI are below them.

The livescoring page was slow updating with their scores. They only appeared at the end of the Warm-Up.

Hm, looks like Hugo will not be there although he was on the list?

Well spotted! Hugo Willi Herrmann has indeed disappeared from the Junior Men's entries.

I just compared the Provisional Entry List to the final list, and there were originally 13, but there are now 11. Robert Wildt is the other that has disappeared.

Hope they are alright, and are not injured.

Well, not really carefully spotted, I'm on a Hugo watch. 😄
Yes, hopefully it's not injury related for either of them.

That's it for the Dancers today. We stay with the Advanced Novices, but move to the Singles skaters. First up are a grand total of 40 girls, arranged into two groups of 8; followed by a resurfacing; followed by two groups of 8; followed by a resurfacing; followed by a group of 8.

Since I have been watching the NRW Trophy all morning, I think I will stick around here for now, and then decide later on when to switch over to the Warsaw Cup.

Awwww. After opening skater Anna ORLOVA (DEU) and her coach sat down to get their scores, Anna left and came back carrying a (rather big!) baby!

Don't know if the baby was her brother, nephew, coach's son or what. But it was so lovely to see!

Come on, Martina! You can't skate to Offenbach's "Orpheus In The Underworld" without doing a bit of leg kicking!

If you're skating to can-can music, for goodness sake do at least some can-can dancing!

Kids these days! :drama:

Erm, I commented about it in the Warsaw Cup Men's SP thread as a reply to a friend's comment, but I thought I should also comment in the thread for the event it actually happened at! :p

Amalie NORDBØ (NOR) skated to a rock version of "Swan Lake". And, although very different to what Tchaikovsky would have imagined, I liked it!

@norwegianfairytale - what are they teaching kids in your country?!

Seriously, though, do you know anything about Amalie?

She went into 9th position.

I have no idea what the music Adelina VOROTELYAK (DEU) was skating to was, but I absolutely loved that programme!!!

There is a lot to be said for traditional music. Even if it is not your own. (Adelina is Ukrainian. And, at a guess, I would say this music was from somewhere in Africa).

I wish more people would skate to traditional music.

The Norwegian girls are trolling us!

First, we have Amalie NORDBØ skating to a rock version of "Swan Lake".

Now, we have Agnes Koller LØLAND coming out in a canary yellow dress, and NOT doing a "La La Land" programme.

It was a fun programme, though.

She goes into 20th position.

shakira-waka-waka.gif

Fun Shakira programme (is there any other type?) from Venla SINISALO (FIN).

I know I shouldn't laugh, but it was so funny when she got into her finishing position, and then fell when she was getting up from it!

When I saw that coach with somebody else earlier, she looked familiar. I am nearly sure I've seen her before.

Anyway, Venla goes into 3rd.

CaroLiza_fan

Shakira again. Already?

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Unfortunately, it is a song that doesn't have a video, so no GIF this time.

Although I like pretty much all Shakira's songs, I particularly like her more Middle Eastern sounding songs. Like this one.

Awww. Carlota GARCIA BARRANCO (ESP) went into 22nd. And she looked like she was about to burst into tears.

:ghug:

CaroLiza_fan

Speaking of Middle Eastern sounding songs, how about some "Aladdin" to follow? The instrumental version of "Arabian Nights"

Wrong colour of dress to be Princess Jasmine, but Sabina SOSNIOK (POL) definitely got the theme.

She goes into 29th. So, she's the middle of three Polish girls at the bottom of the table.

She looked more annoyed than upset.

Hallelujah!!! It's Alexandra Burke's cover!!! :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

Wish more people would chose this version if they want to use a female version. (Actually, I wish more people would skate to Alexandra's version full stop!)

And a beautiful programme all round it was too!

I take it Ornella MESSANA (ITA) is one of the younger skaters in this level. She's tiny!

She goes into 6th. And doesn't look terribly thrilled about it.

CaroLiza_fan

Awwww. We've got a clockwork skater.

Somebody's been watching Aljona Savchenko! ;)

That was a really enjoyable programme from Marie KILJAN (DEU).

And such a pretty dress!

She goes into 18th.

Awww. She's delighted!

CaroLiza_fan

"HAIRSPRAY!!!!!!!!" :cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I have often thought "You Can't Stop The Beat" would make a fun programme. And you know what - it does!

I was dancing along in my chair!

That was absolutely brilliant from Summer WIJKHUIZEN (NED).

Awwww. She was having the time of her life out there! And she looked so happy after she finished! And still couldn't stop smiling when waiting for her scores.

This girl is a star in the making.

What?! 31st?! With only 5 below her?!

That can't be right.

I'm all deflated now!
