EZETTIE LATUASV IVAKMHA
I'm always amazed at how many girls figure skate. maybe there is nothing really surprising in this, but unfortunately I am not a Turkey expert. on the other hand, with the exception of Güzide Irmak Bayir, none of them made a deep impression on me
That's the funny thing. There are lots of girls that compete internationally at the lower levels, but very few of them make it to Senior level.
For a long number of years, there was a core group of 4 or 5 girls that regularly competed internationally at Senior level. The last one standing, Sinem Kuyucu, hasn't competed since last season, so I think she has now finally joined the others in retirement. But, as they have retired, there hasn't been any obvious new stars coming through to replace them.
The worrying thing is that there were only 2 girls competing in Seniors at Nationals over Christmas. The winner was a newly imported Russian that only ever competed in smaller domestic competitions back home (she didn't even get to the Russian Cup, never mind Nationals); and the runner-up hasn't competed outside of Turkey since her first season in Juniors in 2015. That's why they had nobody competing at Europeans.
For a country that has so many girls competing at younger levels, and promising looking ones at that, you would expect the situation to be better than that.
