2023 Tallink Hotels Cup

Yes, I checked both are from "Espoon Jäätaiturit".

Sorry, I worded it badly. I had already checked their clubs, and had seen that they are from ESJ. And that was why I asked. I was wondering if it could have been a club decision not to go to Tallinn. Or, if you knew of any other reason related to the skaters themselves.

I haven't heard anything about Minja recently, and Pihla hasn't come up on my radar before. (Yes, Pihla won the Bavarian Open, but I didn't follow what was happening there).

Edit: It seems to be Emma Määttänen in Basic Novice, she is from another club.

Thank you. Rink Results don't have a club listed for her, so I didn't know if she was from the same club or not.

But Olivia Lisko is from Espoon Jäätaiturit, too, so the reason is not the club.

Aha. I didn't check the other skaters. Only the ones that withdrew :slink:

Right. That settles it then.

Thank you for your insights into Finnish skating.

:thank:

I have to admit, it made me smile that Jari KESSLER's companion was wearing an 🇮🇹 Italian team jacket rather than a 🇭🇷 Croatian team jacket. (He used to represent Italy, and still trains there).

Well, I suppose if you are getting the opportunity to wear Armani, you mightn't want to change over to wearing something else. :p

Edit: I watched Oona and Olivia now, and the head coach was not with Olivia, so there maybe some virus going on.

That's the Senior action done for the day. Now, it's time for the Juniors, starting with the girls. 25 of them, arranged into a five groups of 5, with a resurfacing after the even numbered groups.

However, Pihla BERGMAN (FIN) has withdrawn from Group 3; Giulia BARUCCHI (ITA) has withdrawn from Group 4; and Minja PELTONEN (FIN) has withdrawn from Group 5. So, we are down to 22 girls in total, and those groups down to 4 girls.

Livestream for the Junior Ladies SP is now on air.

Psst, the link leades to senior men. But I don't tell anybody, you can correct it when you have time.

Lotta Artimo and Petra Lahti are also from Espoon Jäätaiturit, so there is many of that club still.

Thank you. I must have opened the page and then forgot to copy the address in. :palmf:

By the way, I'm caught back up now, and am watching LIVE again.

Lotta was beautiful! And I'm not just saying that because she was skating to Irish music.

Mmmm. She does have somebody sitting with her. Is it her coach, or is it maybe her mother? (I thought I could see a similarity between them).

I don't know who the lady is. She has been sitting with many of that club's skaters. I have been watching live but I need to go now for a while so I will watch highlights later.

The opening skater of Group 2, Greta VISKARE (ITA), is another withdrawal! :drama:

No, she is not from the same club as the other Italian that we already knew had withdrawn, Giulia BARUCCHI, who was supposed to open Group 4.

Well, at least it means I will probably get to see an additional skater or two before I leave for tea time.

CaroLiza_fan

And, like at dinner time, a skater isn't the only person that is going missing now. Pihla BERGMAN (FIN) has withdrawn, and I am going to have my tea.

Again, I'll pause the stream and play catch-up after I am finished eating.

All the best to everybody that is still to come.

And we finish the day by staying with the Juniors, but moving to the chaos category!

Just the 4 of them. And hopefully they are actually all here.

Given the circumstances, this was a quite solid SP for Deniss. And yes, when they push but push everybody, the differences will be correct again 🤔 😅

Well, if they push Josefin Taljegård to worlds, does most of us even care or be just happy? I admit to be happy. Valtter Virtanen has the same situation, but neither of them cannot make big mistakes not even here because of their technical content does not save much. Thumbs up for both to skate clean.

Sorry, forgot that we had an earlier start today.

Day 2 follows a similar format to Day 1. Interclub competitions in the morning, and then Seniors and Juniors afterwards. We start with the Cubs A skaters. 31 girls followed by 3 boys.

The session starts with a group of 6 girls; then a group of 7 girls; then a resurfacing; then two groups of 7 girls; then another resurfacing; and finally a group containing 4 girls and 3 boys.

Normally when we have mixed competition groups, I would do a combined reminder post. But, because it is 3 hours until the boys are on, I will do a separate post for them.

Livestream for the Cubs A Ladies FS is now on air.

I thought the wee Lithuanian girl's coach was rather hard on her when they were sitting waiting on her scores. Yes, I know she had a nightmare skate, but he could have been a bit more supportive rather than being so critical.

It's amazing the insights you get when there is a microphone that picks up what is being said. Provided they are speaking English, which these two were.

I wonder why there was a long break after she got her scores. There wasn't a late withdrawal - the girl that was supposed to skate after her did. But, she had to wait a very long time to do it!

The Finnish girl that was due to finish Group 2 has withdrawn. And the Estonian girl that did end up finishing the group, Skater #12, was crying her eyes out!

As well as her coach, one of her team-mates was with her, and she was trying to comfort her. But, it wasn't working.

Not the note you want to go into the resurfacing on.

:ghug:

Anyway, I'm away to start my breakfast.
