Man, we have had some brief conversations with a few judges this week. They want to see what they want to see. There is a level of execution that the top skaters have that everyone else is judged by. They seek a level of physicality that is top-tier. Even a rotational spin that you think is in enough of a split position may not be enough for top levels. It was really eye-opening.

How did you happen to do that?

I’m a fan of this team but to be honest I felt the length of that program. It feels like a transitional FD, not a world championship winning one. I’m assuming (and hoping) they stick around for at least one season and that next year they take us to the club or give us, idk, a Garbage medley or something

I consider roughly 5'5" as the limit for a man for the small but mighty club. (In real life, not what the ISU bio says. ) Do Jimmy and/or Javi qualify?

New members are always welcome. This club started in a euro dance thread wondering if these amazing guys were perceived as being at a disadvantage compared to taller guys like Katsalapov and Bukin because of their lack of height. We decided they needed to be recognized for their skills hence the name small and mighty club. In fact it is Mighty Marco and the Marvelous Charlene who prompted it.

I see big negative GOEs for choreographic movements or slides from early skaters. What makes a choreographic move negative GOE? Or a slide? Even when they go board to board?
