It's Alberta and Manitoba next weekend. Ontario, Quebec, BC and Saskatchewan are the weekend after.

For New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, I think they held their sectionals in the beginning of October. The results are here - http://skatecanada.ns.ca/2024/10/2024-fallskate-results/
Nice!! Good to see who qualified to Challenger. Some okay skaters with some potential to even qualify for Nationals.

I guess there is not too much….
So, I can focus and enjoy GP France
I have marked AB on my calendar.
I will watch Senior Men/Ladies and Junior Girls, specifically. Of course the only time conflict I have, is when Lia skates her free skate 😫

Molly Lanaghan is joining Dancing On Ice:

Also Eric Radford and Vanessa James will be in it too. I like Molly's pink hair 🩷

Health issues aside, I'm really excited at how things are coming together for Marjorie & Zach.
The sheer number of concussions and injuries are worrisome — hopefully just bad luck rather than a result of something they're doing. I love this team and see them on the podium in years to come. Love their FD this year.

Maddie really made a statement at Skate Canada that she's the top Canadian woman. i thought she should have medalled. The best she's skated in years.

Gabrielle Daleman is not on the entry list for Ontario sectionals and isn't listed as having a bye.
Does she still have time to register?
I was optimistic seeing her at the Sectional Series…..

Registration closed on Thursday, they posted the start orders today. They list the byes in the start orders, so that's pretty much how I know she doesn't have one.

Maddie is listed on the Ontario sectionals senior women. I think her strategy to compete more often this year is a good one even if she has a bye. I guess if Kaiya still represents Alberta then she can’t compete at Ont sectionals?

Kaiya can compete there as a guest. Breken Brezden and Robinson/Portz are competing as guests in Ontario, and David Howes is competing as a guest in BC.

I think Anthony is the only other National Team member competing in sectionals, but there's other international competitions going on at the same time that they're participating in like Tallinn Trophy.

You're absolutely right, I did not carefully look at the list of other skaters and the clubs they are affiliated to. Maybe her team may reconsider seeing the great list of senior skaters that are participating.

Robert Brodie interviews Mike Slipchuk:

He's predicting another 4CC skate-off for the Men:
“This is a season … there’s a spot there for Worlds and it’s there for the taking. It’s up to someone to step up and grab it.. And it’s going to be an ongoing battle all season with Stephen (Gogolev), Wesley (Chiu), Aleksa (Rakic) and Roman (Sadovsky),” he said. “It could come down to as far as Four Continents before we sort this out (it actually did last season). I have a lot of faith in our men. We haven’t yet seen them come out with those two performances. I think you saw it with Wesley at Four Continents last year where he came seventh. We have a lot of faith, we just need to see that in competition, those two performances that show what they can do.

The Pairs TBD spot at SCI:
“We have an international criteria that we set and we didn’t have a third team this summer that met any standard that we set to come to an international event. We have teams that were training, but we’re not going to bring a team that has not met (the standard) in any discipline,” he said. “We have to make the decision at the end of August and at that point, no one had shown us they were close to that. Some have met it now, but it was too late at that time.”

This leaves me a bit cold. I don't like when skaters don't know until the last minute if they are going to worlds.. it also diminishes the value of winning Nationals. if there is one spot, send our champion. In any case, at this point, none of these guys are top ten bound so we ain't getting a 2nd spot anytime soon.

Regarding the pairs... There are different ways to view this too, without disrespecting the standards. There could be better internal monitoring. The simple fact that we have a team now that is definitely worthy of that spot, just a couple weeks too late shows that monitoring was NOT efficient.

Other countries leave their host spots open until the last minute sometimes, why not Canada.

For the men’s spot, it should be the highest total scores achieved the season for their three best competition.

So whoever has the most consistent score should be sent

I wouldn't mind that either. At least, it's clear. But the try your best at Nationals and then let's see how you still manage at 4CC is not doing it for me.

The only problem with the best total is that some men get more chances to score better then others. And also it is hard to compare the scores at a B event compared with a GP event.

they would have to send the skaters out... so it's not going to happen

Nadiia Bashynska posted a vlog for Nice:

She twisted her ankle right before the free dance :( She does show pictures of her ankle, in case anyone is uncomfortable with images of injuries.
