back to the novice girls as I want to see Beau Callaghan.

In the meantime : Boulet, jumps didn't work but she has spins and flow. Good overall skating.

not Beau's night.. she has changed a lot... good to see her attempting 3s and 3t... popped the axel...

i don't know if she wants to go back to pairs or not... but if she does, she will have trained her jumps a lot more this way...

Wong/Conforti had a well-deserved win in Novice Pairs. Connaught and KMT are getting a good pairs program going.
Connaught has plenty of good boys.. so that's good.. but where will she find the girls ? that's going to be interesting.

I just finished watching the Novice Girls SP.
1) Camila V - Taking after her sister. She is the favourite tmrw for the title. She was solid
2) Emily Liao - Shocked with how well she did here
3) 4) Marianne and Chantal - The triple triple girls… I thought Marianne was underscored.

Camila’s biggest threats are:
5) Uxia - Winner of AB Sectionals. She fell on the 3Lo. I expect her to move up and podium
9) Hannah Quinn - Winner of ONT Sectionals. She didn’t have a good SP. But, you can tell she is a quality skater. She should move up with the free skate.

My faves were:
11) Quinn Startek - I love her skating skills
22) Tea Herbert - So fast across the ice. Speed demon

Beau was horrible. She finished 39/42 skaters. She is in the first flight tmrw with girls from SK, NL and NS. What happened with her pairs career?

OK. Time to watch Novice Pairs free skate. I know the winners cause I decided to check out this forum first. But, still interested in the other teams

Are there any boys the correct age range in the right area of Canada for her?

I think she may not want to move. So it limits the opportunities. Quebec, as you can see at these early levels : not many boys. The sport has still not evolved a lot here in the sense that most guys play hockey or do speed skating, especially short track...

The entry lists are very revealing in that sense. Then, with the few boys taking part, most seem to end up doing dance. There are some pairs guys too, but they seem to appear later on. Considering the level she was at with Christophe Roch, she may need a little while to find the right match.

At this point, there are two "advanced" pair boys in Quebec without partners. Bryan Pierro (too old for Beau as he just turned 25, beau just turned 15). Bryan trains in Sainte-Julie, (Julie Marcotte's school... and no, it's not Marcotte who is the saint here... the town existed before she moved there LOL)

Etienne may be a good option for her, though I am not sure it may work. They seem to be extremely different in demeanour. Etienne is the same age as her former partner Christophe. So with new rules, they'd be OKay for a couple years as juniors. Etienne was born 01.07.2005. How does that work when you are born on July first ? Good or bad?

However, the biggest kicker is that I doubt Etienne would move away from Yvan Desjardins.

Of course, there may be some others. Vladimir Furman was seen practicing SBS jumps with her but that could be just for fun. Vladimir is tall and strong. I'd see him in pairs. He was born in June 2007 which is good age wise. He is also located on the South Shore of Montreal.

Now, while looking at all that.... I just found out that Beau has a younger sister Lennox who is two years younger and apparently is also doing figure skating... They are coming from Newfoundland...

Having the July 1 birthdate helped him this year for Singles. He was able to compete Junior Men this season with it, but he'll have to go Senior next season if he wants to continue in it. The age has to not be reached before July 1, but on July 1 is fine.

so for him, it's good ;) it gives him a year more eligibility as a junior pair skater

when watching novice women yesterday... i was like why did Rachel martins do a 2lz 1A sequence in the short ? that's illegal.

I saw that too!!
I thought to myself… wow!! novice rules must be different.
If you could do that, most of the girls with no triple triple (all but two), would do triple 2A.
I thinks she thought she was skating her free skate….

I’m going to watch the first hour (Beau) and then I’m off to dim sum 🥟 with some friends. Will come back to watch Novice Boys (LIVE) and then will watch the Novice Girls and PreNovice pairs free skates from dailymotion.

have fun.
i am not sure if i want to watch skating all day... :) i'd like to watch some... but not all day LOL and if i start... who knows what I will do :)

I started watching at the second last flight of Novice Women after watching the last flight of baby pairs (adorable when they realize they medal!) It looks like the title will come down to Camila or Hannah Quinn.

I just finished watching!
I loved baby pairs. But, there was a big guy that won with his petite partner

Novice Boys was boring to me. The top two were far ahead from the rest of the field. But, I found their skating skills 🥱
The winner did break the Canadian record. So, records broken for both PreNovice and Novice. I just think the two boys that won basically just had more triples, but, nothing exciting with their programs or connection to the music.

As for Novice Girls, the three favourites were on the podium. Camila did enough to win? Where is Aleksa, her sister? Is she injured?

Haley Quinn won the free skate and Uxia had a bad performance going for too many triples, but, did enough for bronze.

Shout out to Maellie (sp?) for having two gorgeous 3Lz’s

And of course my poor Quinn Startek who is always robbed with PCS score. She deserves 40+. She is my fave and I will root for her next season.

The top three novice girls all scored over 125. Last year’s 4th place finisher Natalie scored 125 and was selected to NextGen. I expect those three to be selected for NextGen for next season.

Also, maybe, they can send the winner Camila to Triglav, like last season, to join Lia and Ksenia for one Novice competition.

Also, I think they should send the top two Novice boys, to give them some international exposure.

With NextGen, it's also a matter of having the necessary elements for Junior that Skate Canada is looking for. If they don't have a 3Lo, they may not be selected for it.
