2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

So in the end, Fée Ann just had a turn after her lutz.. only mistake but she doesn't have a 3-3. She still scored 56 and dust and her score held up for her to be top 6 and final flight.
I haven't seen her performance but seeing the standings after seeing her draw, I was very impressed that Fée Ann finished as well as she did. Good for her! Does she not have a triple-triple at all, or did she just not do it here?

I have never seen her attempt one. I am sure she is working on one... Her jumps are very big and I bet it's harder to get the right landing edge flow to tag the triple after a big jump. Gabby, for instance, does a "long" rather than "high" triple toe as the first jump to set up for the high second triple toe... That may be the solution for Fée Ann... I don't know.

So in the end, Fée Ann just had a turn after her lutz.. only mistake but she doesn't have a 3-3. She still scored 56 and dust and her score held up for her to be top 6 and final flight. Breken, however, doubled her lutz and try to scramble a 3-3 combo without success and is buried in the standings... but really, a pop and a fall in the SP would have done that anyways. I hope Fée Ann gets closer to the podium (the top 2 are way ahead but the others are quite close) and that Breken makes a huge come back tomorrow.
Breken’s intended layout was to backload the 3T 3T. I could tell she was nervous. She finished 20th out of 27 skaters. I hope she does better in the free skate and moves up some positions.

Fee Ann did so well. She did the best she can do. Now, I hope she nails her jumps in the free skate. Would love to see her win a bronze medal with a 110+ free skate score. I hope she is okay with skating first again. But, this time, in the final flight.

Parker is good. Steady jumps. I was curious about his spins... since well.. some of us have mentioned about Kaiya's... well... seems like Scott Davis hasn't been able to pass on his huge talent onto Parker either.... oh well ;)
I know. It seems like he can’t teach spins.
Kaiya might have performed badly in Denis Ten, but, her spins improved a lot and her improvements were noticeable in terms of higher scores and level spins
Lia seems to have the same problem too.
But, Parker really impressed me with this result.

OK about the 3t-3t for Breken but she should not have tried to scrambled the second 3t... it was never going to happen with how the first jump went... Indeed, she was nervous, first senior international event for her right ? She would need another one.

Reese Rose and Aleksa Volkova are now listed on the Events page for Tallinn Trophy. The entry list doesn't have them on it yet.
I guess this is good news that they get another event. I’m just a bit sad as Rose had the skate of her life in the SP and could have scored really well at the French event. I hope they get their minimums as the battle for the second junior worlds spot will be interesting.

She has no triple triple.
After this SP, I can tell this will be a limiting factor for her, moving forward. However, she has all the triple jumps and the jumps are so high and fully rotated. Her 3Lo is so amazing!! I’m going to be nervous for her tmrw.

Skate Canada seems to have money now to send skaters internationally. I’m happy with all their selections so far, this season. The selections have made sense and have been fair so far.

Next in line…

Fiona/Benjamin (Pairs)
Katherine Medland Spence (Ladies)
😤

I wonder whether Fiona and Benjamin skated their free as well as their short?

For the 4CC CTES, they will need in the free:

Breken - 55.24 TES
Fee Ann - 44.44 TES

Fee Ann could get the Worlds CTES if she can get 59.44 TES, but she should be able to at least get 4CC. Breken would need 70.24 to get Worlds CTES, so I don't think it will happen here. But she could get 4CC

I am very curious what Skate Canada is thinking? Are they deep down panicking that they still don't lookk good in the team even and are down to a lone skater in both men and women. Thhey seem to be t rapped in the ladies with the Jennifer Robinson syndrome The best of the worst. Bugt Jenniifer could still be top ten. Even without three Russians Canada is still not in the top ten. Surely they really want to win a team medal/ If Piper and Paul don't continue to the olympics and Deanna doesn't get her citizenship issue sorted Canada will fall deeper into the abyss and may not qualify.. It would almost be worth it to get Keegan to come back. and Skate for the team event if they qualify. I appreciate Canada is in such a panic they need to look at next year's ollympics and that means maybe not just the future. Deanna and Max, Piper and Paul with Lala (adittedly even without Laurence and Nik Canada with P squared and LaLa are still strong. But themen and ladies are just a hot mess. Honestly a resurgent Gabby might be the way to go as sad as that sounds for the ladies. Ruiter is not developing as fast or as hoped. Madi I am not sure if she is complacent or what. It is like no one cares or wants the men or women's titles. Trennt and Lia look like they are at best a bottomm top ten team. Stephen and Roman have had such potential but it is amazing how many years have passed. Wesley is getting consistent but is unspectacular Iknow they wouldn't but I would get Keegan back. Get him to do the backflip for his choreographic moment and try the quad lutz on top of the toe.. But Mr. Slipchuk needs to do something because wha he is doing right now is not working. Canada's highlights are a pairs team with a lady over 40 who may not be olympic eligible, a dance team that for somme reason does not have the international judges on their side and a mishmash of singles skaters unable to crack the top ten. I had such hope and prommise for Roman,, Gogo and Madi but it has been sevefallll years now..

Gabby is never coming back, I don’t know what you can possibly be thinking, the girl is never getting back to top form. She can still compete for the joy of it but let’s be real.

Perfect!! I was just going to ask you about this. This gives Breken something to strive for in the free skate. 4CC has three spots and if she does enough to attain the minimums here, she can make 4CC a goal for this season.

Fee Ann should have no issues with the 4CC standard. The Worlds standard will be much tougher. Something to strive for. I can’t wait for the free skate.

What's going on with the scoring for the Canadian dance team? The GBR judge had Fabbri-Ayer in last place with a score of 59.95. Lowest score of the competition was 65. I get scores can vary a bit but that score makes no sense, seems almost cruel or vindictive?

That judge has never been kind on Canadian skaters.

Any one know what is going on with Daleman? She has been showing up on entry lists for a while now but then she ends up withdrawing. Is she really making a come back, does she have another injury, or is she just playing at skating for the fun of it.?

Breken made it! 58.18

Fee Ann easily got the 4CC and was about 1pt off from worlds, she would have made it if not for the pop on the flip.

Has Maddie done any interviews lately? I don't know why she's having so much trouble skating clean, and all I can think is that I want her to switch strategies or coaching team or something. With skate canada coming up, I think if she skated semi clean she'd be gifted a medal, but I don't believe her to skate even halfway decently. She wasn't always inconsistent like this, was she? I like her skating a lot, but I'm always concerned she's gonna fall or pop.
