2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

Just went through the Tallin Picks and a lot of people have Sarah-Maude in the medals. A few even have her in 2nd. Do not want to jinx her but if she does medal here will her International profile go up a bit. Really believe if she had a better profile she would have scored about 5 points or even more, higher in the 4CC free skates the last 2 years. Other better known skaters did not skate as well but scored higher.
Hopefully she will do well.

The women's field isn't very strong at Tallinn. Nina Pinzarrone and Sofia Samodelkina 'should' be ahead, but Sara-Maude has a chance of bronze if she skates clean. Lea Serna is inconsistent and Josefin Taljegard hasn't competed yet this season. They could both place above Sara-Maude with clean skates. Below that, the likely standard starts to drop off.

But going to a weaker event works out well for USA ladies who score and place well then end up moving up in rankings.
Exactly. And I genuinely do think Sara-Maude has a chance of a medal here - just like Fee-Ann achieved one at Nice.

I would love to see a genuine 4-way fight between Maddie, Uliana, Sara-Maude and Fee-Ann for the national title and 4CC and Worlds spots. (I've not forgotten Breken, I just think she may have peaked too early in the season).

Kurt Browning’s thoughts regarding the state of Canadian men. Thoughts??

Asher's cleavage is showing he was a great ice dancer.

Thoughts : I am not sure I agree with everything Kurt said but he has some very good points about "knowing where you stand"

when he says fight : i hear focus...

he mentions Adam as the one who is well-rounded... i agree.

I am not sure why they didn't talk at all about what happened also that created that gap : injuries and retirements... but I am happy that they all mentioned that skaters will compete more.. that's about time... don't just send the top 2-3 but the top 5-6.

And yet she didn't get top notch GOE on either. Other better known ladies do lesser jumps and get 3s and 4s. Just another example of having to get out there and get better known.
Her PCS was a bit better this time, even with the fall, which is a big improvement. She left a lot of points with steps and spins level. This, she can fix herself. If she gets a medal here, it will help her for future competitions....

Adam? I can't place an Adam. Is he one of the skaters coming up from Novice for you?

No Canadian entries for Golden Spin of Zagreb. I thought they'd send Aleksa since he is the only skater with one initial GP assignment who doesn't have a second Challenger.

I guess they thought he didn't well enough at Skate Canada ???
I guess they didn't listen to Kurt ;)

They have to learn that our skaters will only improve if they get sent out more. It is funny how some skaters in the past that they kept sending out no matter how they did ie Justine.
If they hadn't sent Osmond when she came back from injury, she would not have recuperated as fast... I remember the first event post-injury where she fell on every single jump... they kept sending her no matter what. And bang... Olympic medal, World champion.

Now, of course, Kaetlyn was always a complete talent... i don't see our skaters yet on that level.... the one who reminds me the most of Kaetlyn is Fée Ann... big jumps and some very good flair... but unlike Kaetlyn, she's missing the 3-3 combo.. so I guess they may use this against her.

For the men, unless Roman has a late surge and Wesley fixes his consistency issues (he has been sent out quite a lot) I don't see anyone in the seniors with the tools for top ten at worlds. So... it will come from the juniors. John Kim, David Bondar, perhaps Paradis ( yes, he is competing seniors but until i see a 3axel, he is a junior for me) and when Eddy Vasii is back in full form... etc... but we will have to be waiting patiently.
