If I had to pick between Kelly Ann/Loucas and Ben/Fiona, I'd go with Ben/Fiona... unfortunately I just don't think Kelly Ann/Loucas have a ceiling much higher than where they already are.Well curve ball for you.
Who knows if Lia doesn't fix the throws... If Trennt who is an excellent jumper, doesn't fix that part too... Kelly Ann and Loucas, but even more so Ben and Fiona may get 2nd.
Trennt missed out in 2022 when James and Radford returned... I wish he will not this time around but sometimes, Olympics are just not meant for you...
(I sincerely hope that Trennt and Lia will go....but I wouldn't be surprised if they are passed by one of the other couples )
If they want to make it a winner takes all competition between the three teams (other than DSD) next year at Nationals, I'm ok with that too.Lia didn't miss out though last time.. It was Trennt and Evelyn but I agree.. I think Canadian pairs (other than DSD) worked really hard for Nationals. They knew what was at stake here... and probably peaked a bit too early this season.
Kelly Ann is only 19. The thing is that she is still a "real" junior.. but managed to do so well already going to worlds and even winning a medal at a GP stop. Loucas is 24 now.. In other words, they would have been able to stay junior much longer under the current rules and develop in a different manner... They had to rush doing things to be relevant as senior and i think that cost them a bit in terms of PCS.... I believe that this set back will help them improve... now that their goal is further away (Olympics) I hope they continue to fight and develop... Can you imagine they would be only 24 and 29 in five years from now... with a TON of experience. If I had to pick between Kelly Ann/Loucas and Ben/Fiona, I'd go with Ben/Fiona... unfortunately I just don't think Kelly Ann/Loucas have a ceiling much higher than where they already are.
I have a hard time deciding what I think about Ben and Fiona. That said, next year I can't see anyone but Trennt/Lia going in the second spot. They seem to have stalled out too, but at least a fair bit higher... and Ben/Fiona still need a lot of seasoning.
I agree. I loved their programs and thought they really found their style, which made them unique. Disappointing showing here, obviously, but I thought they took a big step forward this season with their performances at nationals and 4CC.I have to say that my favourite programs of the entire world pairs scene this year were Trennt and Lia's. I hope they will keep one of them and are super ready for Nationals next year.
Too soon to tell Ben Fiona. Hopefully it works outKelly Ann is only 19. I think Fiona is a star... much brighter than Brooke was... but I think Ben and Brooke were special with their long lines and distinctive style.
However, the way Fiona is landing throws already is impressive their throw triple lutz was amazing at Nationals... So I think that if they manage to gel better, they could create a surprise.

Ps I liked Trent Lia programs as well. I hope they can get consistency next year.Too soon to tell Ben Fiona. Hopefully it works out
I guess not surprising... but I'll be honest, when they're on top I prefer them to a lot of the other pairs- there's just something about them. If they can get more consistency, I think they have lots of potentialTo no one’s surprise.
Yeah but the scores are not particularly high. I will be honest, I have never liked the Americans that are breathing down their neck, but I do believe that they perform the heck out of that program, and it's the first time I didn't think that they were super over marked for what they did. But yeah, Marjorie and Zack certainly didn't get any favors with the scoreLast group, here we go!
L\L had a very good outing and lead with five remaining
Yes they had errors, but it's not like any of the pairs behind them skated like they wanted it. It's one of those years and competitions where the least mistakes wins I guessI just watched Conti macchi as didn’t see yesterday . Wow they got bronze with missing a jumping pass and hand down on throw. Hmmm. Water under the bridge. That’s accurate right?
Think I need to watch the last group again. What bothers me is some teams do the same errors and get sunk down to the point of no return while others held up. Jam and O’Shea missed both throws. Got good placement. At this point I could care less about their transitions. He just carries her around the ice lolYes they had errors, but it's not like any of the pairs behind them skated like they wanted it. They were blatantly overscored. It was jarringThink I need to watch the last group again. Pp should have got gold last year. That was the biggest injustice. Unfair Canada doesn’t get the home soil advantage it seems.Well, I should have known after the blatant injustice of last year, but I still manage to be disappointed and enraged that they crowned Chock/Bates with the rhythm dance, with some of the most egregious scoring I've seen in a long time. Clearly Piper and Paul were better and had a better program, so for them to not even be in the ballpark....yeah, I'm furious. They should be ashamed by this bald-faced fix.
I do know what you mean. Deanna and max did better though in the l/p and got decent marks but should have been more? There is no way to rationalize this sport thoughI guess not surprising... but I'll be honest, when they're on top I prefer them to a lot of the other pairs- there's just something about them.
