Looking at the last few years, cutoff for top ten is usually around 190… so Maddie would need a 120+. Certainly within her range with a good skate

I get that there's disagreement with the scoring at Worlds regarding certain countries, but this is the Canadian skating thread. How Isabeau does shouldn't matter here since she's American.Good grief the overscoring of Levito
This judging of Americans this week has been egregious.
Actually they got saved by the first disaster. The second disaster saved the victims of the first disaster. The victims of the second disaster will probably go to China and easily get their spot there.Alicia & Paul got saved from having to go to China (or Marie-Jade and Romain doing it) by two unexpected RD disasters in the penultimate group.
Yes. She needed to place at least 10th for the chance to send someone to qualify a second spot in Beijing.Question: There is zero chance of having a second spot for Women's at the Olympics for Canada because Maddie placed 11th?
Her free programme is also under-developed at the moment compared to those of the others. She has only been doing that programme since nationals and they have been doing theirs since the summer. It shows in the smaller choreographic nuances which hers doesn't have at the moment. I haven't looked, but I suspect she would come out quite favourably if you compared her score yesterday with those others were achieving in Sept/Oct.I just watched Maddie... OMG... sure.. she missed that lutz but the rest... was pretty good and i loved the program.
So proud of her. Bravo... Sure, it's not the top 10 we wanted but I thought that 11 was where she would most likely end up... I thought the Ninas, Amber and the Koreans would pass her... so not too surprised.
She's worked on the levels which is awesome too... of course, with a lutz in, she would be top ten.. but this is promising.
Yes, LaLa have a chance - but I don't think it's a particularly good chance. I expect the ice dance bronze to go to either the Italians or to Carreira/Ponomarenko. The latter wouldn't normally be in the running, but some of the US skaters are being given very favourable GOE and PCS marks this week (in some events, and for some skaters - Efimova/Mitrofanov were, I think, actually underscored in the pairs short where the other US pair were overscored).I’m sad Canada lost a spot in Pairs. But, they didn’t execute well at Worlds.
I was really hoping Maddie would be the one to surprise to earn us back the lost spot and she just missed.
As for dance, it is clear Piper and Paul will win silver. I’m intrigued with the battle for bronze. Does LaLa actually have a chance? I think they will ultimately give it to the Italians. I just hope LaLa stays at #5. I will scream with joy if they surpass the British team and hold off the Americans and teams behind them.
As for Roman. I’m happy with him earning a spot already. It is not like we have any depth with our Senior Men. I know there is an outside chance for a top ten finish. He will have to be clean with a landed 4S in the second half just to have a chance. I don’t see him ever landing that quad in the second half considering he struggles with fully rotating the 4S, as his first element. I hope he goes for a 3S instead. Also, his 3Lz has looked off recently. I guess my goal for Roman is just to place higher than last season. Top 18 placement will make me happy.
I hope Piper and Paul can remain second but with the Tec and Judge panel I am not sure they may not drop to 4th. I can actually see the Brits and the 2nd USA team of C/P medaling. Even if Piper and Paul stay 2nd I think C/P will get 3rd. The USA skaters have all been getting home bonus levels, GOE and calls. As for dance, it is clear Piper and Paul will win silver.
