2024-25 Canadian Figure Skating

Wait!! I recall….. Didn’t Julia just edge out Etienne and his partner for bronze at Junior Nationals?

What happened to Simon, her partner? Did Simon retire? Did she end her partnership with Simon and pick Etienne?

Sorry if this was already answered. What the hell happened??
simon retired.

Entries for Skate BC/YT's Victoria Day competition are up.

Cheung/Lee, Wong/Conforti and Menard/Dunn (they withdrew from Skate Canada Trophy) are all moving up to Juniors. So that could mean no Kirsten Moore-Towers commentary at Nationals since she coaches those teams.

Christopher Manis is also entered for Novice Pairs (I'm assuming with Ginevra Bellentani since she's the other entry for Novice Pairs from Champs).

Also David Howes Senior debut (y)

It might still be all right to have KM-T. Carol Lane does CBC commentating although her own pupils are competing.

Were there commentators for the Juniors at Nationals? If so, was it the same as for the Seniors (one specialist + one "generalist") or was it JGP-style (no commentary during the skates, one commentator during the replays).

Kirsten could still commentate on the Seniors while coaching her Juniors.

I can't remember how it was handled for Juniors, so you may be right.

[Edit: Carol Lane does Seniors, but when it's her pupils up, she keeps quiet and says very little. Just describes what they're doing but not commenting on how they do it.]

Interesting...does this mean Canadian athletes will be sent out more to get that wished for experience in competing, or does it just apply to domestic competition in the summer (not a bad thing in itself)?
I think it means continuing what was being emphasized this season. Use the summer competitions to work out the rough edges and get ready to compete in the fall. Take advantage of any opportunities that come up for international competition, and they did give out more opportunities for second Challengers this season.

Emmy Bronsard won bronze at the Helsinki Solo Ice Dance International. Leane Landripet finished in 10th, I think this was her first solo ice dance competition.
Observing : many falls in solo dance... the skaters may be pushing themselves to the max.

Also Emmy had the highest BV. That's awesome.

You would think with being High Performance Director of Skate Canada since 2006 that Slipchuk would have realized that getting skaters out earlier and with more competitions under their belts that this would be beneficial and make them better in the long run and that it shouldn't have taken this long for him to come to this conclusion. It's like dude you've been doing this for nearly 2 decades now.

Considering the language in the Challenger selection documents has the requirement of competing in a full summer competition (both the short and free programs) prior to this season, they knew. It was getting the skaters to do the full competitions that started happening this season.

Julia Quattrocchi/Etienne Lacasse and Beau Callahan/Vladimir Furman are on the Patinage Quebec 2025-26 Equipe B list for Pairs - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Equipes-B-RC-25-26-V2.pdf

Also they have Edrian Paul Celestino on Equipe B?

Equipe Excellence-A-NextGen is here - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/EXC-A-NG-25-26-V2.pdf
Good things ;)

Edrian was retiring... so this is strange... I don't expect to see him next year but if it happens, then glad for it ;) Nationals in Gatineau woot !
