Skate Picks 2024-25 Japanese Nationals

Skate Picks
Darn, I had Oda on my original prediction list, but I changed it at the last minute. I should have trusted myself more and remembered that usual top men were under so much pressure to secure World and 4CC spots, or to fight to become the 2024 champion, that some top guys would likely combust, many did, while Oda was there for himself, simply to do his best and to perform for the love of his sport and his many fans and he killed it. He made me so very happy to see him do so well, I don't care that he messed up the status quo. I love that mature skaters like Oda, are still competitive. Kudos to any skater over 30, who is still showing the teens, how it's done, once a winner still a winner, LOL!

Congrats medalists!! :laugh3:
Kudos to @sworddance21 who just leveled up to the Intermediate level! Great job on a perfect score in the Women! :points:

And a big Welcome to @Arriba627 and @Royston who just entered the Hall of Fame! :love3:

After two National events, here are the current standings.

The season is flying by fast, but we have seven contests left:

Europeans
Canadian Nationals
US Nationals
Four Continents
Junior Worlds
Worlds
World Team Trophy

So it actually happened, no medal at all for me in Japanese Nats despite following Japanese skaters closely 🫠 On the other hand, 2 medals for Russian nationals which I have zero knowledge of 🤣

Congrats to everyone who medaled, it wasn't an easy prediction :clap:

I won a 🥉 Bronze Medal with a score of 25. 😲

Yep, that says everything about Men's skating. :laugh:

So glad that for once going with my heart paid off. I was one of only 4 players to include Nobunari Oda in their Top 5:

@jorge2912 put him in 2nd
@Royston put him in 4th
@triplelutzzzzz put him in 5th
And I also put him in 5th

Oda was where most of my points came from! :biggrin:

Even though it would have meant me getting no points from him, I would have loved if Oda had actually finished where @jorge2912 put him. But, congratulations to @Royston for getting his position correct!

Disappointed with joint 6th in the Ladies. But, congratulations to @sworddance21 for achieving that elusive perfect score.

Thank you to the organiser and the scorers.

Hope you all have enjoyable festive season, and I look forward to us all reconvening in the New Year for Europeans. (Yipes, I forgot that it had been brought forward! :eek: )

Nothing for me. Maybe all this list keeping is just muddling the skaters in my head. I barely only saw parts of the event.
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the contest runners.
