2024-25 Russian Grand Prix Final

Shame for Alina.
Mura out of the podium and doesn’t seem concerned; it’s like she gave it.
Before, she would cry but now she seems resigned. I’m afraid it’s the end of her career
Sofia MURAVYOVA's skaing is so beautiful but her jumps are so instable, sometime good, somettimes not. It is sad for her career but she deserved not to be on the podium.

It's actually fascinating how different Mura has been in the K&C recently. Best believe that she's still going to cry once the cameras are off her, but she's been doing a good job of no longer bursting into tears on camera.
She was talking pretty nonchalant but maybe she was just super stunned. Before you could kind of hear her voice cracking or see that shes just putting on a happy face but this time it seemed different. Maybe she is just over it.

2) It looks like clear Petrosian/Gorbacheva. Though if they called Alina's UR, she would drop a place and it would be less obvious.
If they only consider raw standings yes it would be Alina, but if they are going to really consider future probabilities and stability I can really see Frolova. Do you think the FED would look at the quality of Alina's jumps despite the established scoring? Frolova seems like a way smarter play long term, way higher probability of success. I think most of us would agree, just depends how the FED actually considers these things. Of course international PCS and no ultra-c buffer is another big issue...

It shouldn't even come down to this-these hunger games. My sister lost her Olympic dream in swimmng thanks to Jimmy Carter's politics, and it is unfair and unjust. Three should be going to the Olympics in men, women, pairs and maybe dance.

All these decisions were made long ago, and Plushenko was probably told along with Mishin (that's why he's been so sour all event). They probably told Muraviova if you skate well with a 3A we will consider you as reserve. Alina in the SP was close to Mura and then has the 4S combo in the free skate.

Kaori barely gets 75 in the SP despite getting a World Champion boost, and Amber with her 3A also barely gets 75. Mone hasn't even broken 72 at a home GP.
Even biased judging isn't as generous now as it once was, unbiased one even less so.
Yes I suppose it has to be Alina. They need an ultra-c buffer the judges will be giving these girls zero favours. No matter how good she is its unlikely Frolova would take a gold while Alina could.

And Alina is sooooo fast. Maybe the speediest woman in the world right now.

Next season will be strange. No matter if someone else performs better, the same skater will be sent to the qualifying event and olys.

At the Russian championships she missed bronze by 0.02 and it had been a terrible season for her. I think she realised that only the skates of her career with a 3A would give her the reserve spot. Plus the SP went really well for her so she takes a lot of positives from the weekend.
I find it interesting these internet kids have been dragging 18 y/o Muravieva as a finished and hopeless career this whole season despite Akateva delivering maybe half the quality but people are still glazing her like crazy

But we won't know what the others will cook up during the whole pre-season before Olympics. The Japanese girls are probably working on 3As 24/7. The Koreans too. And the Americans might have Thorngren doing 4Lzs like it's nothing.;);) And then we have the Europeans that might jump through the roof!

Ah? What happened this season?
I looked up last season and the season before Samakoto was easily getting 75-80, Hendrickx was around 75 most of the time.
Olympic season will do its magic anyway. The inflation is always sky high.
