The battle for silver here is intense and extremely high stakes. If Alina is silver with Dasha bronze I think Dasha takes it based off Nats. Mura in silver with Dasha bronze definitely gives it to Dasha. Mura silver and Gorba bronze would be the most uncertain result. Either of those on the podium without the other should mean they take it. I don't know if they would give it to Frolova in any case even if she took silver. Akateva is also sort of interesting I doubt she would get it, but maybe if all 3 of the other girls bomb out and Akateva takes silver with someone like Frolova in bronze then she could get it?

If anyone wins over Adeliia somehow they of course take the spot.

Some folks are saying they won’t pick another eteri girl as substitute to play it “safe”. (In case there is a problem because eteri is related to kamila). And I honestly think that’s a good idea.
That would put aside dasha…

They probably will pick Alina, she’s younger and shaper than Mura (and plushenko is kind of related to Putin).
Frolova would be a great choice too

Gumenik was good today. Who knows if he’s still skating in September . He probably is but aliev could be the best in September and gumenik where aliev is

I just finished watching the men and what a pleasure it was.

They are so great. So many multiple landed quads. Avg was about four and they land them. Five of these skaters could have been European Champions. Honestly, the Russian Men are the best in the World. If it wasn’t for Ilia and maybe, Yuma, they would be the best. I think easily five of the top ten in the world are from Russia.

Special applause to Samsonov. To me, he should have placed 2nd in the free skate.

As for who Russia should pick, it needs to be Vlad or Petr (my fave). I felt so bad for Vlad…. He has been the most consistent. Had he placed on the podium, he would have for sure been selected. Mark and Zhenya gutsy skates now put him 50/50.

1) Petr - I think he did enough. If he skates like this, he can score 300+ and podium at Olympics. He has the artistry and technical skills. Only weakened is under rotations and inconsistency
1) Vlad - He has been the most consistent. The issue with him, is that I see him scoring 280+ consistently. So, lock for top five at Olympics. But, most likely not enough for podium potential like Petr. I put them tied. Because they can toss a coin to decide this. This is how close they are. He is so handsome too and has the talent to improve next season and even introduce the 4A. Why does a decision have to be made now?

3) Zhenya - So consistent. Would have been sent to Worlds and Olympics, had they been given three spots. I’m so sad for him.

4) Mark - Skated with guts. But, just narrowly beat Zhenya
5) Gleb - So much talent. But, clearly their #5 at this moment.

As for the ladies, again, they are the best in the world, but, that 3A really is their achilles heal. No ultra-c jumps landed in the SP, as a result of this. I was more impressed with the men.

Adeliya should be the lock to be sent to the Olympics regardless of the result here. The second reserve spot is interesting. I really wish they had three spots.

Sofia M is my fave. I love her so much. I’m hoping she podiums. I want her to go clean. But, she may have to pull that 3A to show the fed something. The good thing, is she can wait to see how the others skate before her, before deciding what to do.

To me, my dream Olympic team would have been Adeliya, Sofia M, Alina

My dream Worlds team for this season would have been: Adeliya, Sofia, Anna (Alina is ineligible this season)

As for Pairs, it is clear who should be selected to go to the Olympics. M/G are the best and have been this entire quad cycle. Honestly, with the calibre seen internationally, this team is the only team worthy of gold.

D/B might not even be the #2 team. The team currently in second place has been impressive. Clearly these two teams would have gone to Worlds this season and potentially sweeped the podium. Osokina is my fave pairs lady. I hope for redemption tmrw.

Such an exciting event. I love Russian figure skating. Half of the worlds best are from this one country. We are missing so many rivalries without Russia at Worlds.

Yes. Sorry. I worded it wrong. Obviously Adeliya will go to Olympics and not to Wolrds and two other ladies will never get the chance to go to either Worlds or Olympics. That is what I meant.

Great skating from the women. I prefer Gorbacheva's program to Murav'eva's, but Murav'eva skated with confidence and literally was impossible to flaw.

Among men, honestly, I want Popov and Ugozhaev to become the next big thing next year. I am happy Gumennik won, he absolutely deserved it, but i really wished those two got more for what they had shown vs Mishin's skaters. I mean, I understand the romance of RusFed with Dikidzhi, but he never delivered PCSs. Also, super happy for Kondratyuk and Ignatov for staying in the game.

Dance was actually pretty nice. I am happy to see that Pasechnik was keeping up better with Cirizano, but I am still rooting for L/G to podium, though the likelihood is nil.

I don't give two figs about Olympics, but top 6-8 from each discipline in international GP series would have re-energized the sport.

Yes I already noticed Russia focuses on quads rather than 3A (contrary to the rest of the world which prioritizes 3A). It’s a shame because you can’t jump quads in SP.

I would have the exact same Olympic team. Love Mura too, and I’m pretty sure she can make it to the podium tomorrow. She seems shaper and probably more confident and happy.

To be satisfied I would love to see Mura and Alina on the podium (and honestly someone else than adelia for the win)

Lvl 3 spin and StSq unfortunately, close to a legitimately perfect skate otherwise. Not big errors for sure thats Frolova.

I hope she is happy for the combo it easily could've ended her whole tournament, incredible save and show of mentality she can still silver nothing to be super upset about.

Gushchina could've gotten 34 easily we all expect this already though. TBH I dont think Frolova was overscored this time even though she usually is. She skated absolutely lights out artistically it was perfect. Akateva's PR being 8.8 while Sakova only 8.55 is egregious it should be reversed, I think Sadkova was equal to Gorbacheva in PCS TBH but I am not upset with Gorba's high score she was extremely sharp and accurate, didnt miss a beat and amazing CO. Sadkova is the best mover in skating right now IMO but we'll see in the FS. Her flow in the SP made everyone else look coarse though only Gorba really matched her but she is more sharp and precise than flowy. Sadkova's kicks are unbelievable she is so strong and flexible, if we are talking leg work specifically I dont think theres any contest that Sadkova is #1 (so I am bias for her since I love legwork and fankicks). Objectively Gorba's PCS should be higher than Mura, Mura is much more coarse musically at least yesterday she was (not that she was bad, just more average while Gorba was flawless), granted Mura's music is way harder so maybe its justified. Maybe higher CO for Mura but higher PR for Gorba. Kulikova's SS could've been higher maybe but I am not an expert in that. Yametova only 7.9 PR is quite low she hit every beat in the StSq.

Historically yes but this season Petrosian landed like 7 in a row this is her first fall. Mura said she might jump it in the FS so we'll see.
