2024-25 Russian Local Events – Discussion

Within the battle of the schools I see there is a separate segment of I believe they call it "open test skates" for five smaller girls (age around 2nd sport or 1st youth?).

Anna Dokukina fell from 4T but the rest was great

Korchazhnikova delivered 4S+3T but her TES dropped, she finished behind Dokukina.

SPB Northern Walz. Junior pair Kasins/Bregei (Moskvina school) look very good in pair elements but unfortunately still have jumping issues.

Maria Zakharova delivered quite solid SP.

Good to see her again after a long time BTW.

Artem Kovalev skated very well.

Arina Marinicheva was very good at Northern Walz today, 67.94 TES in the free skate, TSS 125.47. At the very start she made a random fall but then she delivered.

Yana Astashenkova also did solid technically, 68.57 TES, although she received lower components.

Alena Boldyreva gives Alina Zagitova's Carmen vibes.

Arina Orekhovskaya (Orenburg) tried 4S but fell. The rest of her skate is solid though, she looks good.

Ekaterina Koltsova also solid performance. 194 total score.

Maria Mazur 4S fall, but the rest was nice.

And she won.

Very good skate by Chernikova. She probably deserved the gold.

Though good fight from Fursova by changing the combos after the fall.

Maria Zakharova didn't survive the second half unfortunately. But it's obvious she can skate clean.

I remind that from Thursday to Monday there will be Zhuk's memorial aka Russian Championships younger age. I won't put it into the link collection yet as so far only the schedule is available.

Konstantin Safonov of Tula has landed an easy-looking 3A. Very happy for him. Even his "easy" triples looked horrible before.

Landed two more 3As (though not as clean as in the SP) to become second in the free and win a medal.

Congrats, very decent result. Looking forward to see him at the stages next season. This season his debut was a disaster.

And unexpected winner in Women's, Maria Pulina who managed to land her big jumps. I like her unusual programs so let this competition give her some confidence.

Big congrats to Roman Khamzin on winning a medal at SPb Champ.

A lot of problems this season for him: growth spurt and injury.

Skates here weren't perfect but he did well. He had popped his opening 3A but decided to repeat it in the second half and landed it. And it decided the silver. Fantastic character.
