2024-25 Spanish Nationals

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to miss the Paiss skaters, as I am still eating, and I haven't seen their Short Programmes yet.

We now have a combined group containing all of the Pairs partnerships. 1 Advanced Novice partnership; 4 Junior partnerships; and 1 Senior partnership.

Livestream for the Pairs FS competitions is now on air.

Here is the link for the archived livestream (starts at 2h 18m 37s):

Thank you so much for all the links @CaroLiza_fan - they enabled me to finish this rewatch and actually watch some of the event. It's been crazy doing this many Nationals at a time for rewatches. Last year I did many after the event. Doing them live has me watching multiple screen and start orders and sites. I hope to get to see the dance later today. I see my new junior babies Sara MARCILLY VÁZQUEZ / Jolan ENGEL did very well in the RD.

The novice pair team is incredibly cute skating to Willie Wonka. Love her double bun hairdo and he has a bit of a Sergei Grinkov look to him.

Oof, I wanted to say that Brooke and Marco looked better here and then the double fall on the pairs combination spin 🫣
The Axel lift, which didn't get credit at either of their previous competitions, looked actually quite good, the other two lifts were sticky but should get credit (he managed to lock his arms in both). Clearly, being out of training for two-ish years and then having an upper body injury soon after picking up high-level training again has made it very difficult for them, but they are improving now - Even if it's going slower than they want.

You're welcome. Glad to be of help.

But, I'm afraid that you've not quite caught all the links.

Each day there was one stream broadcasting, and they all appeared on the same address (i.e. the address in the OP of this thread). But when each day's coverage gets archived, it gets split into two videos on different addresses, so that there is not 3 hours of replays in the middle.

So, here are the links for the past two days:

Friday Part 1 - https://www.coe.tv/videos/197248-viernes-parte-1-campeonato-de-espana-de-patinaje-2024-2025
Friday Part 2 - https://www.coe.tv/videos/197254-viernes-parte-2-campeonato-de-espana-de-patinaje-2024-2025
Saturday Part 1 - https://www.coe.tv/videos/197370-sabado-parte-1-campeonato-de-espana-de-patinaje-2024-2025
Saturday Part 2 - https://www.coe.tv/videos/197374-sabado-parte-2-campeonato-de-espana-de-patinaje-2024-2025

Sunday's stream is still broadcasting, so we don't know what the address(es) to the archived video(s) will be yet.

That is why I decided to do the reminder posts for this event. Because I remembered how complicated it became last season.

Hope this helps

Okay I fixed and made space for two possible Sunday links

I'm back. And after I finished eating, I watched what I had missed of the Junior Ladies SP while I was eating on Friday. So, I can now watch them doing their Free Skates LIVE.

I just realised. The first to skate, Ksenia ISAIIEVA (VAL) from the Fun on ICE club (what a name for a skating club!), is the only skater at this event representing a club from Valencia.

Ksenia is doing a "Cruella de Vil" programme. But, she is wearing a beautiful black dress. Where are the furs? Where are the dalmatian references?

Nevertheless, I enjoyed that programme.

If this is the standard of the skater in last position after the SP, we are in for a good competition!

CaroLiza_fan

The rest of this group are all from clubs in Madrid. Starting with Maria ESCRICHS LAVIAGA (MAD) from the Valdemoro club. She is wearing a lovely red dress, and skating to rock music.

But, my goodness, how many times did she fall? I think it was 3, which when you add in the 2 falls she had in the SP, brings it to a total of 5 falls across two programmes.

Admittedly, with the first fall in the FS, she was probably worrying about the proximity of the boards.

But, I got the impression that Maria's problem is that she was trying too hard with everything. If she drew it back a bit, I think she would get more of the elements, and hence score better.

She goes into the lead of the FS and overall.

The next skater, Marta LAVIÑA PÉREZ (MAD) was from the Madrid Dreams club (another club with a great name!) She was wearing a grey dress, with what looked like a forked lightning design on the back.

I did like the music. Dramatic.

There was a couple of jumps where she had dodgy landings. But, on the whole, she was good.

She goes into 2nd in both the FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD), the first of the three skaters from La Nevera club, was skating to music from "Cats".

But not a cats ear in sight. She was wearing a very shor dress which was mainly black, but which had grey sides. It had a very Art Deco feel about it. And she was wearing grey gloves.

She is very fast in her jumping and spinning, but it worked against her a couple of times. She had a fall on one jump, and just about saved another.

And she did the cat pose on the ice at the end.

You know, I don't know anything about Carlota or her coaches, but the way she skates reminds me a lot of the Russian girls.

She goes into a massive lead in both the FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

We finish the group with two skaters from the Valdemoro club. The first of them is Estela RUÍZ GARROTE (MAD), who is wearing a grey dress with a black belt.

I like the instrumental music she skated to.

I enjoyed that. But, I don't think it is going to be enough to take the lead. She was only 0.07 ahead of Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) after the SP.

Yep. She geos into 2nd in the FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

The second Valdemoro club skater, Sofía PASTOR MOLINA (MAD), was wearing a gorgeous deep red dress.

She was skating to "Adios Nonino" by Astor Piazzolla.

She really messed up one of her jumps, but I think it'll just be classed as a hand down rather than a fall.

And a pop on the second part of a combination jump.

When it is done clean, this will be a beautiful programme. But, there were too many mistakes today.

With being only 0.28 points ahead of Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) after the SP, I am afraid Sofía has no hope of taking the lead after that skate.

Awww, Estela RUÍZ GARROTE (MAD) stayed on for her team-mate getting her scores, and gave Sofía a big hug when she arrived.

Sofía goes into 3rd position in both the FS and overall, about 4 points behind Estela in both.

So at the end of Group 1, the three Valdemoro skaters are 2-3-4 in both the FS and overall. But Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) from La Nevera club still has a massive lead.

CaroLiza_fan

Kicking off Group 2 is the first of two skaters representing clubs from the Basque Country (albeit different clubs). First up is Nora SÁEZ de MATURANA SALAZAR (EUS) from the Bipolo club.

She is wearing a beautiful blue dress.

Fell on a jump early on, and then had a really dodgy landing on the next jump she did shortly after.

The rest of the programme was good.

The audience were really getting behind her in the second half. They could see the quality of what she was doing.

But, with only a 1.64 point lead over Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD), those couple of mistakes will be costly.

She goes into 3rd position in both the FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Now it is the turn of Adriana SEGUÍ JIMÉNEZ (MAD) to try to take the lead away from her La Nevera team-mate.

She is actually wearing a dress of a similar shade of blue to the previous skater. But this one has a silver pattern on it.

Such a contrast between the two songs that she was skating to. The first was really meek and gentle. The second was heavy metal!

I didn't spot any issues.

In other circumstances, I would say that Adriana might have a chance of taking the lead here. But, she was only 2.50 points ahead of Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) in the SP, and Carlota was so good!

Adriana should definitely go into 2nd, though.

Yep, she goes into 2nd position in both FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Two FC Barcelona skaters now. First of them is Elsa BONET SATSUKI (CAT), who is wearing a beautiful black dress and balck gloves.

She messed up the landing on one of her jumps early on. Not sure if it will be classed as a double hands down or a fall.

Elsa had a 3.00 point advantage over current leader Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) in the SP.

I think she'll go into 3rd position, behind the previous skater, Adriana SEGUÍ JIMÉNEZ (MAD).

I was half right. Elsa goes into 3rd in the FS, only 0.14 points behind Adriana. But she geos into 2nd overall, 0.37 points ahead of Adriana.

CaroLiza_fan

The second FC Barcelona skater, Ariadna GUPTA ESPADA (CAT), was wearing a peach dress and skating to "Romeo And Juliette".

She had a few landing issues. And a falling issue.

Sorry, but Ariadna isn't going to win a medal.

She goes into 2nd in both the FS and overall.

But, she is only 2.33 points behind Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) in the overall standings.

So, if the last two skaters go clean, they might have a chance of going ahead of Carlota.

CaroLiza_fan

The penultimate skater is one I am more familiar with, because she is the team-mate of one of my kids.

Nahia OLAIZOLA MUGURUZA (EUS) from CH Txuri Berri was wearing a gorgeous black dress.

Things didn't go great for her. Messed up the landing on her first jump. Fell on her second. Messed up the landing on another in the middle of the programme.

She looked so disappointed coming off the ice.

Nahia may have had a 4.46 point lead over current leader Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) from the SP, but she will not be going ahead of her.

Aritz Mestu sitting with her.

Yep, she went into 3rd in both the FS and overall.

CaroLiza_fan

Right, now for the moment of truth. Can Carlota GARCÍA BARRANCO (MAD) come back from 9th in the SP and actually win the title?

Standing in her way is her La Nevera team-mate Noa SEGUÍ JIMÉNEZ (MAD).

She is wearing a black dress with silver pattern, and skating to "Winter"

This is a different league of skating to what we have seen so far. And the audience know it. They are really appreciating this.

Mind you, she did have one iffy landing in the first half. And another towards the end.

But, they are not going to matter. Noa is going to be the champion ahead of her younger team-mate.

What a climax to the competition.

Everybody in the results area knows she has won. They are just waiting for the confirmation.

What?! 2nd in the FS?! :jaw:

But she does win overall.

Well, she was only 0.78 points behind Carlota in the FS.

So the three La Nevera skaters finish 1-2-5, with the two FC Barcelona skaters 3-6, and the CH Txuri Berri skater in 4th.

:cheer: WELL DONE!!! :cheer:

CaroLiza_fan

So, how do we recover after the drama and excitement of the Junior Ladies? Oh, I know. Let's have a double-bill of chaos! :dbana:

A group of 7 Junior boys; followed by a group of 6 Senior boys.

Livestream for the Junior Men's Free Skate is now on air.
