Then I read the sentence again out loud, and the penny dropped.

i don't know where you are but there was a major sun storm just recently and it should hit tomorrow nightl. i saw my first ones in may and this storm should be similar... so northern USA may see it...

you need to leave the city and go where there is not much light pollution and use your phone at night mode... you will see them with your eyes but the phone will see them better

and the avril amaretto is the best thing ever.. so amazing in a good way...

That's a point. Have alternative phrases developed for sayings like this since you changed your currency?

It hasn't happened here in the British Isles. We still use phrases that refer to the pre-decimal money, such as somebody "is not the full shilling", or something "could turn on a sixpence". Even though it is now over 50 years since those coins went out of circulation.

Hey, I use phrases like that, and I wasn't even born when the coins being referred to were in use!
