The 2024 Lake Placid Ice Dance International will take place July 27-31, 2024, in Lake Placid, NY, at the Olympic Center. The event will feature the Junior and Senior categories in ice dance and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the Technical Rules for Ice Dance and relevant ISU Communications. This will be an ISU Minimum Technical Score event.

The event has never been televised or streamed, right? Last year, someone kindly uploaded programs on Twitter X, but that's unlikely to happen this year, right, due to music restrictions cited by U.S. fed?

What determines which teams do the domestic and which ones do the international? Doesn't it make sense for all of them to do the international so they can get points, world minimums, etc?

Seemingly, newly formed teams or teams who are coming up the ranks but not high on the Nationals totem pole will compete the NQS domestic portion of the event. For e g., Flores/Desyatov competed the NQS at Lake Placid last summer. Ivan was still getting his release from Belarus worked out. F/D also competed at Dallas Classic last season, but not this season. They skated in two later internationals last season and medaled at both, and then moved up 3 spots at Nationals from the previous year. So, this year at Lake Placid, F/D are competing in the international division.

Leah & Artem will probably compete in the international, too. They do not need to compete NQS since they are JGPF and World Junior champions. I heard the Browns are expected to compete again in the international competition. They came in second last year at LPIDI.

Amy Cui & Jonathan Rogers are going to compete in the NQS. I am not sure about Jeffrey Chen & Annabelle Morozov. They could do the international, but as a new team, they should probably compete in the NQS, because they are pointing toward Nationals qualification as a new team. The same for Pham/ Spirodonov, a new team with one partner having substantial senior experience, and the other only junior experience.

BTW, Isabella Flores has revealed both of their program music with some clips to her subscribers. Since she hasn't publicly announced anything, I won't say what their programs are. But both look very good, very cool, very interesting and entertaining. Both RD and FD are choreographed by Kaitlyn Weaver! 😍

There likely will not be an official public announcement before the reveal in competition at Lake Placid.

I am so tired of the way this sport is run. The event starts tomorrow, and they still haven't told us who is entered! 🙄 Why is that? And why can't they evolve and get it through their thick skulls the amount of interest and anticipation there is in viewing the event?! 😡

Both of the non-US teams could have competed in the international part of the competition and profited more - Though both are new teams, so maybe there still are outstanding releases? Both skated for Japan in their last partnerships (Shiloh Judd with former partner Nicole Takahashi) / were planning to skate for Japan (Seiji Urano with Utana Yoshida).

Also, some other teams have announced they'll be there who aren't entered in the domestic part of the event and logically concluded are likely to be entered in the international event. In Juniors, that includes the Mullens and Peals - And surprise: Aboian/Veselukhin.
In Seniors, Flores/Desyatov (obviously 😁) and Katarina DelCamp + hubby (for Turkey).

If they're in Lake Placid and not on the entry list for NQS Lake Placid Ice Dance Championships, then they are likely going to be entered in the Lake Placid Ice Dance International - Which is interesting, as for example Pham/Spiridonov have not competed at all so far and are not part of the ISP (International Selection Pool).

Unless the entry lists got messed up and some entries are missing/in the wrong category.
