2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Also wonder if he stays in the top 10 will that change some CAN men's plans (esp Roman) for next year knowing 2 men will get to go to worlds.
I don't think so. Until this year, there was one men's spot but Stephen was not really in contention. If all goes well in the free, we will have one spot up for grabs and one spot for Stephen. Stephen will add one spot to those available, but probably take one spot as well, leaving the other men just where they were last year!

At work. Cannot wait to watch the Pairs.

Like James Radford, Lia and Trennt medal at WC Post og
But unlike James and radford, they skated well and earned the bronze. I think this is the Accolade that this team needed in order to be able to have a bit more credential behind their names to give them a bit more star attraction and staying power should be wish to try to make a go of it in the post amateur world. I mean, show skating isn't what it used to be so that might not be a ton of options, but they are a hugely likable and fan friendly team, so whatever they decide to do, a world bronze can only help.

It will be interesting to see if Trent, who has seemed to be a little hoham about his post Olympics career. On one hand I could absolutely see this lighting of Fire and giving them a bit more confidence to continue; however, I could equally be them acknowledging that this is the dream scenario to close out a career with, knowing that lightning doesn't strike twice, and that considering how tight pairs is right now, without a true superstar, but multiple pairs who could be on the podium on any given day, this might be the perfect time to capitalize on their success and call it a day

I've been a fan of the Pereira/Michaud team since their debut, but being honest, I never thought this would happen for them. What a great way to close out the season, and you'd have to think this motivates them to continue on (though if Trennt in particular is ready to pack it in, this is obviously a great note to end things on).

Canada has been relying on the Vancouver generation for its medals for the past 16 years. Lia & Trennt are our first Worlds medalists from Generation Z, and if you had asked me a year ago, I would have bet anything that Marjorie & Zach would have that distinction.
Same, she landed all the throws! That was huge for them. I haven’t seen Kelly Ann and Lucas yet, surprised they finished19th. Does this mean Canada gets 2 or 3 spots? Assuming that you know this!

You know, I was looking at the starting lists earlier today and realized that besides Piper and paul, Lia and Trennt were clearly our best chance for a medal. With Go-go, you look at the competition nsync, well, his best-selling feature is his consistency compared to a lot of the other contenders. But when you look through the names, you realize that if all of them skate lights out to their potential, they would likely score and play higher than him. Whereas with Trentt and Lia, looking through the list, it was clear that they were at least on par with just about all of the pairs there other than the top two.

But let's hope that Stephen's Newfound consistency and on the rise components scores combine for another great showing!

Canada gets 2 spots for next season. Kelly Ann/Loucas would have needed to finish at least 10th for Canada to get 3.

I think the poster may be referring to the fact that Roman gave all impressions that this was his last year, but perhaps if there is a second opening, he might stay. I still think that he is the best of the rest - particularly given the added consistency and improvements he made this year.

Good point about Roman potentially staying. Depends on his body’s ability and willingness to keep going, his drive to achieve unrealized goals, and other opportunities that may be knocking. But with only one semi-reliable quad, he is increasingly becoming less competitive.

Confirmation that Lia/Trennt will continue competing next season 🥳

A Divine Sport published an interview with Lajoie/Lagha:

And Robert Brodie has the recap for today:

Edit: The original tweet about Lia/Trennt continuing was deleted, replaced by a tweet from Jackie Wong about their plans for next season.

Congrats to the Canadians. I cried at Lia and Trennt's skate, it was so good. So happy for them, and now they have three medals: a small bronze, a small silver and a big bronze. Hurrah, hurrah. After the disappointment of Daria and Michel being the only ones who missed the cut, this is just such a big bonus for me. I mean, I was also happy with the champions, but that Lia and Trennt skated so well...that really moved me. Yay!

I had seen the results obviously but not the skates.
Lia and Trennt had the performance of the night for me. Storytelling. Musicality. Good elements. Only one minor mistake. Bravo.
Such a comeback from them compared to last year's worlds. Bravo !

I don't know... he has so much more speed, flow, ice coverage and expression then steven. Yes, Stephen's choreography and transitions might be superior in places, but Alexander's presentation is early at a different level than Stephen's at the moment, and I would argue the same about his skating skills as well. He definitely has the "it factor" that Stephen lacks thus far.

HOWEVER, I think Goglolev is more likely to skate a solid free then alexander, so it's really going to be all about how the Japanese skaters perform. A lot of the practice reports that I've been reading have suggested that Sato is having a pretty up and down experience here in Prague...

I agree, Gogo is still pretty rough around the edges. But he’s improved massively even just the last three months as his confidence continues to build. I think it will come. He spent so long trying to get his jumps consistent, I think the rest of his skating didn’t develop as much as you’d like for a senior… but it’s coming together now, and fast

I don’t know whether Lia and Trennt just suddenly found those missing levels the last couple months, or the judges just finally started to give them up… probably a bit of both!

Look forward to what they can do with a full quad as Canada #1… and the battle between the rest for those #2 and #3 spots will be fantastic. It’s nice having multiple teams all pushing each other!

I am so impressed and happy that LIa and Trennt won bronze. It reminds me ironically of 2022 and James and Radford. I know there wasn't a lot of pressure but they still had to skate it and after the olympics I was so cared. They did it. It's unfortunate about the second Canadian team but you don't always have your best skate. Goo is really impressive. Don't want ot jinx him but all of a sudden he is consistent and with it pcs going up. Alot of skaters are not "true" artists. Gogo maybe just needs a little packaging and character programs where he can put a lot of energy into the character/personality. Ilia use a lot of energy and he sells the program. Gogo can do the same. HE is in the final group which is amazing. I am so nervous about Piper and Paul and Wuthering heights. I don't know how it works biring back an old program that they have only practiced two or three weeks Oy. I guess they just reused their old costumes? FIngers crossed for Gog he gets top ten but better yet on the podium. Doubtful perhaps but you never know - ice is slippery. Giood luck to Maddie. TOp ten I don't think is possible. And this could be her last competitive skate.

Had a feeling that the USA teams would finish ahead of LaLa when I saw the panel, and so far one has surpassed them. Will not be surprised if G/P do too. So they will be down around 9 or 10th. Now worried for Piper and Paul. Can see the Brits and the top USA team going 2nd and 3rd with Piper and Paul in fourth.

I don't have these worries. I think Piper and Paul and LaLa have good FDs.

Well Maddie must be glad the season is over. She really has not had a good season at all. Some of her lowest scores in both the short and free. Her best skate unfortunately came at Nationals. Although she did need to have a good skate there to be assured of being our lone women skater at the Olympics and Worlds.

She peaked when it mattered the most
