2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Looks like Skate Canada is looking to get Sara-Maude out more this season. Wonder if it has anything to do with her going for a 3A? Or is it more about not having complete faith in Maddie this season.

It's about the same amount of assignments she had in the first half of last season, she had Nebelhorn and Tallinn Trophy. Most of the singles skaters on the Grand Prix have gotten two Challengers this season, so it fits that pattern.

It should be Uliana and Katherine for Zagreb. They're higher than Sara-Maude on the alternates list and they're getting close to being called up for second assignments.

Kind of weird... Deanna and Max already have a silver and would most likely have another silver... It's hard not to make the final with two silvers though it's of course possible. I guess they just want to make sure they have that November competition. I am a bit puzzled by this but yeah... Okay.

I'm assuming as well that they will make the final. We will see after this weekend I guess if they stay on that list or not. It's just really a bit weird because I asked Deanna if there was a reason why they didn't pick Finlandia and she said one of the reasons was that it's too close to the final with travelling and jetlag and everything. And Warsaw is the same weekend as Finlandia.

At the same time, you can always drop out of a challenger and in this case a not challenger for pairs event... without any repercussions but you cannot from a GP if you want to qualify and earn very important points.

So I can see why they wouldn't want to commit to Finlandia but are okay registering for Warsaw. It also depends on the level of fatigue and the need to compete. If they feel super strong and healthy but find they need to fine tune their programs, they could even go to Warsaw before the finals... BUT I doubt that.

To be fair I asked that a while back when the GP assignments had just come out.

I guess for now it's just an option in case they don't make the final. And if they qualify they have time to think about it and discuss it and then make the decision that they feel is the right one for them. I assume they have a plan for the season related to pacing themselves and being able to peak at the right point in time, so I hope they can stick to that.

With new programs, sometimes, competing a bit more often is better. It will be interesting to see how they do at Skate Canada because the LP looked a bit awkward (not just because of the mistakes) in their first two competitions. I am looking forward to seeing it when it's smooth and flowing.

I hope they can put together two great programs this weekend with focus on the free of course. I can see where it's going and hope they can show everyone what a great program it is.

That being said, I'll probably need a bit of alcohol to calm my nerves before they're on 😅

I stopped drinking for Movember so no alcohol for me :)

I learned that I am more anxious when I'm watching at home. When I'm at the rink I am taking photos and can keep myself busy so the nerves are not that bad, but at home I don't have that option. So drinking it is 😂

Robert Brodie interviews Gilles/Poirier:
“We were just thinking, the ’90s, what was happening during that time and for us, right away we knew how iconic that the ’90s supermodels were. They made such a big impact,” said Gilles, who’s also 33. “And ironically, last year they had all of those documentary series that came out about the the ’90s supermodels and this and that. And I know that was kind of our inspiration from the get go.

“But it was like, how do we find music that works with this? What is the music on the runway, on the catwalk? What’s that feeling that we want to create? And I think RuPaul’s ‘Supermodel’ was, right away, the piece of music that we loved. We grew up with this Lizzie McGuire movie, it’s so iconic, and she had this runway walk in Milan.”

Why put all your eggs in one basket? We should be getting several skaters reps
